guys there are so many myths around this pillow story so allow me to set things straight this was the first time ever I was using mail. This post office of mine doesn't deliver parcels and they don't even bother to leave anything in your mailbox notifying you you got a parcel (that post office got like 40 1/5 ratings online because they do this) I checked my mailbox every 2nd day or so thinking that's all I needed to do Then LT tells me I done fucked, so I phone into the post office and they say one of the parcels is there (the other got sent back already because I didn't pick it up for too long because I didn't know it was there) I ask what do because it was addressed to Scipaeus and the dude on the phone tells me to pretend that Scipaeus is a company So I went to post office and pretended it's a company. I tried to be real smooth and nothing went wrong. The best moment was when the woman was confused about 1. it being from china and 2. apparently some info was missing in the database about the parcel (idk what that was about), but she said she'd bring the parcel and check it out. After like 2 minutes she comes back and I see a young guy walking next to her and all I hear him say as he's pointing at the huge writing SCIPAEUS on the top "... yeah, that's the company" and he looks at me and smiles and I smile back at him FUCKIN REKT in short my post office sucks it's not my fault at all that I don't have the cover yet LT is a boss and there is 1 really cool guy working at the post office

That must be the longest post I've seen Scip ever make that wasn't intended to stroke his ELO-dick.

This thread really has been on overdrive the past few days. Is work for y'all really that boring this week?

You guys are my only source of entertainment while at work and I'm in between projects until may.

Yea, there's so many different conversations going on here.
But I heard Badminton, so whoever plays/talks about that are my favorite posters now.
edit: BRM is pretty fun. Have 2100 gold stockpiled, but the cards I really want are in Week 4/5 (The Shaman and Nefarian).

It's been a surprisingly quiet week at work. Positive - I get to catch up on some things. Negative - I have this feeling that it's the calm before some unforeseen storm.

Pickle Ball is a game we played in High School gym. It was one of the most hyped up things throughout the year aside from Floor Hockey and Handball.
ps I went to High School in New York, not New England. double ps Badminton was A tier gym class, so certainly worth going to gym for, but not nearly as hype as the afore mentioned sporting events.

You guys sleep or are busy getting up when I'm at work. Need more East coasters. Got 1600 gold stockpiled, with 140 in quests currently sitting. I should have farmed to 2100 by the time the 3rd week is out, I'll get the 4th one a bit late though, and the last probably one week delayed unless I get lucky with my quests.

Pity no one was watching, except for afklaric. I ended up watching for almost an hour (you say "an" when it starts with h?) before going to bed with the stream open, more than I expected considering the tme (almost 4 AM). Time flies too quickly—plus "just watch that mission" takes longer with you because contrary to Ghandi you don't just bumrush in. RIP Kong though.

Which is why I used a loophole in curriculum updates to take Badminton twice! #livingthehighschooldream
Now that you say that we may have played some version of pickle ball in the racket and nets class... it's a little fuzzy cuz I'm an old man now.

Although you change y to e in Spanish when the next word is an "y" sound though so there's that.

Yes because the "h" is silent.
In the opposite way, if the word starts with a long "u" like "unicorn", it's phrased "a unicorn".
English is a fucking stupid language.

Eh it's not that dumb, you can basically wing it by "what sounds better". Spanish was much more annoying (it's probably more English being super simple though, French and Spanish are bitches, especially with all the conjugations and tenses they use, and the amount of irregular forms; they also much more pronouns).

I can't afford to bumrush anything, because that's how you get fucked badly by a random flank.
I can play a little more liberally now since I have advanced lasors, and will soon have lasors online for my interceptors, so I have a little reprieve before I start hitting cyberdicks and mutons (hopefully I can get rocketeers and some HEAT ammo gunners up; I do have snipers with disabling so I shouldn't struggle too hard).
Need to get Xenobio up and my scientist supply going, and get some usable armor immediately after, and consider an expansion to Europe or Africa or Asia by ~month 4ish (I originally planned on a quick month 3 expansion into SA, but they're both going to the aliens probably by mid month 3 so that's a wash).
I was really, REALLY close to a fatigue spiral though, so I need to recruit moar bodies, or just suck it up and accept that my psi will lose 8% chance and take fatigue reduction on my officers.
hoping 15c won't cause too many save game probs, since I hear they're introducing a slew of buffs to shit like Deadeye

It makes perfect sense in that writing and language, at least in the western world, was traditionally treated as a derivative of spoken word and meaning. Therefore, writing merely reflects how we verbally say things.
But of course you could disagree with the positioning of writing as secondary if you want to go down the path of deconstruction and Derridean grammatology do ho ho~

You specify the Western world so does that mean the East's languages are constructed differently? I know local languages here are such a fking mess in the written form which is largely because they had no written form until European settlers came.

I'm not a linguist so forgive errors and generalizations.
Western writing systems (by which I mean Western Europe as descended from ancient Greece and Rome, which is the only important culture in the world obviously) are based on phonemes, or basic sounds, that are strung together to make words. The Latin alphabet, which we use to this day, is an example of this - each letter corresponds to a phoneme, or basic unit of sound, and by putting them together you get an indication of how a word is said.
Eastern writing systems (by which I mean China cause that's the only important Eastern country) like Chinese is variously said to be logographic or ideographic, which means every single character represents not a sound but a meaning. It's a morpheme as opposed to a phoneme. The representation of meaning in writing is divorced from how to pronounce the word. Now it's actually a bit more complex since some Chinese characters, depending on origin, could be composed of both a semantic (meaning) and a phonetic (sound) element, which gives guidance on how the character sounds as well as a hint to the meaning. However, it is still not an exact representation of sound, which makes it different from an alphabetic system.
One of the points Derrida made in Of Grammatology was that in Western language, writing is subservient to speech since writing is merely a transcription/representation of what is said, and is (unfairly) robbed of an independent existence.
