It's ridiculous, but like Kaiji it revels in it, only instead of gambling you've got vampires, characters named after famous bands, robotic Nazis, and other silliness. And it's only the beginning, the silliness will in part go away (I mean Stroheim is hard to top, and it's even more hilarious when you remember that he's the inspiration for Guile of Street Fighter fame) but it'll become more and more fabulous. It strikes a nice balance between ingenious fights, ridiculous characters and silly situations. Also the characters and stands named after artists and bands gives flavour to the arcs. I could talk more seriously about SnM, but I really liked the angle taken on the story, how the few fights are here to serve it (I'd pretty much seen only shonens and stuff Yuki Kajiura composed for by the time I watched SnM) rather than just buy time/look cool, and are still way better animated than most animes, and the different characters. The interactions between Balsa and Tanda especially. | ||
