Didn't bother with turning off the youtube playlist after I grabbed a link that had it at the end for the "video game remixes" post. Feels pretty nostalgic when the sky's all grey and moody and it rains cats and dogs by the window at your desk, and the playlist gives you this or that out of nowhere. Wtf and then there's the next with its Valkyrie Profile vibes intro (it's gorgeous though, you should listen to that one, even Soniv). No cheeriness for me this afternoon.
As for packing I'm in Coma's camp: you've got a deadline and usually tons of other stuff to prepare for when you're packing, while things are much more relaxed when unpacking.

I know about it but don't actively search it. I'm subscribed to Smooth McGroove's channel if it counts as remixes.
I know between 6-10 touhou remixes uploaders, several of them simply tagged as "not my style" or "that annoying guy who just uses an adjective and a number as video titles so you can't know which music it is". Apart from that it's mostly clicking related videos. I avoid about everything with video title mentioning vocals (as what interests me is the melody and the take on it mainly), techno, dance, nightcore, metal, etc. because either I'm not a fan of the genre, or its Touhou remixes are usually jumbled notes with little relation to the original ("metal" mostly being a overexcited distorted electric guitar doing its own thing and mixing a few notes of the original melody every 45s or so to pretend it's tied), I also avoid themes I don't know the original of (come across some when the video is a medley/full album, tends to slant me toward not liking the original as much when I listen to it but in exchange I get some gems like that one of True Administrator). Even then I could easily get 2+ hours of stuff to listen to with mostly new arranges just jumping around. There's simply that many touhou arranges of about every music genre floatng around.
I ended up knowing some circles I enjoy particularly (WAVE and especially Morrigan's stuff, Pizuy's Cell, higuma, some of the sisimai brothers, Marasy8's piano playing of course, Tokyo NEETs' live jazzy arranges, some of =Neutral=), which I can't say of other games/series' remixes, either because there are far less, or because I don't listen to them enough to know remixers.
That is not to say I only listen to touhou stuff, though. But you asked about video game remixes and I'm mostly content with originals. I also found a fair number of enjoyable remixes of all genres on the playlist. Or just games with good soundtrack like Rochard or Super Stardust.
I agree, I tend to avoid remixes for games I'm not familiar with, so I don't normally do Touhou. Most of the remixes I keep are from games from the N64 era or older since more modern games don't benefit the same way from remixing that older ones do (I mean, I like chiptunes, but it's nice to have your favorite tunes lengthened from one minute to two or three minutes). I'll have to check all that out, thanks for sharing.
I'm interested in Monte's perspective on packing since he did a big move fairly recently. I mean, packing to move house is a lot different from packing for a week's vacation. I've mostly done the latter kind of thing so I don't mind unpacking.
When I was staying in university housing I had to pack all my stuff each semester then unpack it the following. Trust me the packing is the easy part. Unpacking is an absolute mission as your sense of purpose is just not there. Packing you have a clear goal in mind, an end in sight if you will. Unpacking is just the beginning step, there's no end afterwards. You still have to sort everything out but all you want to do is just relax after moving.

Oh god I've moved houses like 9 times in my life, every 2 years pretty much. I think that packing is more difficult, getting all the dishes in newspapers, getting all the banana boxes and all that shit sorted out is more effort than unpacking, but you just don't want to unpack. It just makes you go all existential. What would happen if I just left all this shit in these boxes until I needed it? Meh, I'm tired. Let's go sleep and play videogames. What's the point of unpacking things and, by extension, living? If I stopped living I wouldn't have to unpack
Alaric's post got me to listen to the vanilla WoW ost. Man. As a commenter said, "The first time you see the login screen... the music... you create your first character, then click 'Enter World'..."
I have all the WoW OSTs from before Mists. They're incredibly good and, IMO, each different piece of login music is a great and fresh take on the theme, which is difficult to do. This was good because I was often indecisive and could spend 2 hours picking what my characters looked like.
gahlo your reddit post has sparked some sort of jungle circlejerk free karma whore fest, there's like 4 top posts all about the jungle and this bad patch
When I say I'm interested in what the take on the melody can be, the sheer variety of Touhou-lovers is a boon (although they're mostly Japanese people, you get all kinds of stuff from chiptunes to orchestral to traditional Andean instrument). Take Solar Sect of Mystic Widsom+ Show Spoiler +
fun fact: the complete name is 霊知の太陽信仰 ~ Nuclear Fusion, this video is the second result for "Nuclear Fusion" in youtube
, the sound quality is rather low, as usual, and by itself it doesn't necessarily evoke much apart from something frantic, but not stressful, with a bit of grandiloquent to it (it's a dumb, but awesome boss fight with a larger-than-life character ringing an alarm when she switches attack patterns and throwing suns at you). Now compare its arrange Gnosis the Heliolatry (title is apparently a functional alternate translation of the kanji) and this piano take.
It's not just the instruments: while the melody is clearly the same, they're not made to evoke the same thing at all in the listener.

Good, this circlejerk exists because it is needed.

Nooo, not you too. Come on man you're supposed to realize that show is silly.
? Mirai Nikki is fucking awesome and Yuno Gasai is my waifu
Mirai Nikki is a show entirely centered around Yuno Gasai and people best summed up as cardboard cutout of a character archetype. I don't.. hate the show, I just don't really like ol crazy eyes so the show doesn't have an appeal to me.
I was going to mock your waifu but I decided against it for the sake of civility.
if you don't like yandere in general i don't think yuno would appeal to you. she's supposed to be the extreme of the concept. she's not my favorite but i certainly don't dislike her.
