It was just a matter of how to implement it given how much they seem to be on a crusade against point-and-click disables right now (even though Shackleshot is conditional anyway). well even shackles failure stun is a long stun to Riot. so i can understand a direct 1:1 being considered bad.

That's just not the direction they wanted to take the skill, though, seeing as this one's clearly a nuke.

Then again, the comparison I'm working with is Naga's ulti lasting 7 seconds, lol. In that vein, I wonder if Bard has the option to end the ult early.

I'm saying having "states" or a "United set of States" instead of one singular country or isolated countries seem like a dumb idea. Creates far too many redundancies and issues within your "united" network. In the same vain creating a "Union" of singular countries makes more sense than creating on "United States" of those entities.

Riot does recognize that no-damage disables do need to have extra power to compensate. That's just not the direction they wanted to take the skill, though, seeing as this one's clearly a nuke. its not like there are many of them that exist in the game anyway, its what, Terrify, Cocoon, Event Horizon, Puncturing taunt, whimsy, and the two ultis, Hyper Kinetic position reverser, and Fate's Call. Even then the fail stun is still almost as long as most of those at rank 1. A successful stun would have been waaay too long. To mee it just looks like they wanted to make ohmwrecker work, so they said, lets make it AOE and be forced zhonyas as well. and kept the duration the same. The good news is they are taking more risks, even if most of the thought process has been tested in other games before.

Cuz if it's the latter, that basically takes out the only self-synergistic component of his kit (Stasis->free Shackle followup while they're Stasised). In fact, that's probably the biggest gripe you could make about his kit--it's a bunch of cool abilities strung together, but there's not really any underlying theme or synergy that really gives him a defined role--which is going to make it hard to balance because he could be either powerful enough that he's always good, or weak enough that he's always useless, rather than having his strength dictated by the usefulness of the role he plays to a particular teamcomp.

Is that a gripe or what they should have been doing in the first place? Cool kits that people can then figure out what they want to do with it instead of forcing synergies? It's not league design though.

Even League's "coolest" designs like Lee Sin still have some fundamental positive interaction within their skillset that makes the kit come together. I mean, his "theme" is very much roam, get between lanes quick, drop support places. Return of roam meta!
