Let's talk about the important issues. Like what to replace my mega blaziken with in my doubles lineup. I just end up using mega sableye all the time anyway so I am not entirely sure why I bring blaziken in the first place. Speed boost or not he's so frail.

What is your team trying to do? You should be building around a specific threat (e.g. Zard-Y, M-Kang) or a specific strategy (e.g. Rain, Trick Room) and work from there.

If you're starting from a threat and then building around it, pick something that accomplishes a specific goal. For example, M-Gyarados has Mold Breaker, DD to set up, can provide Intimidate support before Mega-Evolving. Here is a team report by Sejun Park's blog, translated on Nugget Bridge explaining how he made his Championship winning team. And here is a report by the guy who came in 2nd place, on the Team Imouto blog.

You also want to think about threat lists and how you prepare against other teams. This stuff is basically the same as Singles 6v6, so I'm not going to bother explaining the concept. here is a 50 Pokemon threat list to consider. And here are the speed tiers you need to think about.

And here is an article about momentum. Because VGC is such an aggressive metagame due to its format, momentum is very important to understand.

My current strategy has been playing around with Prankster's using Swagger and Thunderwave.(Yes I know, I am a jerk for such hax usage but it's amusing to me)

My ideal situation is disabling/crippling a pokemon or two allowing me to set up calm minds on M-Sableye or dancing Dragonite to a point that unless they have an answer I can just smash over them with help from stuff like Rotom-W and Sylveon.
So far it's worked, for the most part but that's partly due to so many people bringing dragon answers and running into a bulky Dragonite with a weakness policy. Also I think people just not understanding how big a threat the new m-sableye can be if you don't deal with it in a timely manner.

I've also got a few ideas about swagger and Persim berry's. I figure something like that might just further cement what I'm trying to do easier. Doubles has so many options to play with I love it.

This seems like... a pretty terrible strategy?

Mega-Sableye
M-Sableye wastes the massive support presence Prankster Sableye provides while also eating up one of your Mega slots. Its stats are also underwhelming. It has less SpA than Rotom, and only a little but more bulk in return for losing all of its speed. Would you run Calm Mind on Rotom if it could learn Calm Mind? Probably not, because it has better things to be doing with its 4 moveslots. The same applies for M-Sableye.

Stall also doesn't work in Doubles - it's too aggressive a format, and hazards (Stealth Rocks, Spikes, etc.) aren't important. M-Sableye's speciality is stall and winning hazard control in games, neither of which you want to be doing. Your move coverage is also poor - Shadow Ball means you get walled by any Normal type Pokemon and Dark Pulse means there are a lot of bulky Fighting types who will take advantage of you.

Set-up moves
Against anyone competent you shouldn't be in a position to get in multiple turns to spam set-up moves, which is why there are only a few that are viable in Doubles. Things like Dragon Dance are good because you dance once, hit a good speed tier and then bulldoze over people (hi M-Gyarados). Things like Nasty Plot/Swords Dace are good because you use it once and immediately create a large threat in one turn (often hitting crucial break points). Sitting there spamming Dragon Dance is basically asking for someone to come in, Intimidate and/or Will-O-Wisp you, or smack you in the face with Foul Play and laugh (which regular Sableye can do btw). You also get hosed by Taunt too. These are all Very Bad Things ™.

In order to get away with it, you're running Swagger. That's like running Tracking in a Hunter Deck to search for Captain's Parrot in order to gain card advantage. Sure, I mean it can work, but there are far more important things you could be doing instead to win games.

There's a very good 1999 Magic the Gathering article called The Danger of Cool Thing. It's an old article and MtG focused, but it's still as true today as it was years ago.

.....wat?
And MB not only is that article extremely non-MTG-noob friendly, but I don't think it applies to why I'm bad at drafting. I don't even know how to create super lucky combos like that.

Fair, it was written like 15 year ago for an MtG audience. Here is a more recent article.

It makes all of its important points in the first half which contain no MtG references. You can understand the example it uses in the second half even if you don't know any MtG, since it's just saying that "lots of new things came out and this deck used almost none of them". And the evaluation of the cards in the new MtG set underneath can be ignored.

EDIT: The evaluation of the card "Sundial of the Infinite" (Ctf-F for it) is also useful since it goes over the main principles of what you want to be worrying about when evaluating stuff.

lol PX.

Yeah MB this article is a bit better but it's very clearly not referring to a drafting format. While I am sure I am equally terrible in determining what works/doesn't in constructed in both card games, I care less about it partially because I am nowhere near competitive in either, and partially because I don't enjoy it as much.

Edit: Hmm...I have to take some time to read more in depth. I take it back. There are some good lessons to be learned here actually.
