I'd love to give Elsa Cancer a try, but I know not having that card leaves a big hole. In Giants Mage? Ragnaros is a decent enough replacement, though you're in a dangerous position since Alex also serves as a self-heal after proccing ice block, which can be dangerous if you get rushed down. Nonetheless, Ragnaros works since it can be duplicated against Control decks. In Freeze Mage, you don't technically need to have Alex, though it does weaken the deck pretty significantly (as it's one of your primary combo starters, and sometimes the self-heal buys you time to kill). Instead, try the Ancient Mage OTK Freeze Mage deck. ![]() Again, not having Alex weakens this significantly too, but it works. Goal is to stall out long enough to get the combo pieces in hand, the OTK. 2 OTK combos: 32 damage with Thalnos, x2 sorcs, x2 frost bolts, x2 ice lances, x2 fireballs (9 cards), or 30 damage with x2 sorc, ancient mage, x2 frost bolt, x2 ice lance, x1 fireball (8 cards).

You can try an Antonidas Freeze mage with x2 mirror image (replace Ancient Mage Cone of Cold and x1 Coldlight), but that's pretty bleh (you won't get the room vs Aggro like Hunter). If you do get Alex, the deck gets significantly better. Current reasons why Freeze mage is good: No more Loatheb. Use to be auto-include for every deck, now currently a somewhat rare-ish tech card. If people want tech, they generally pick Harrison ATM, since most of the popular decks in meta are spell-lite, and have weapons. Hunters no longer run flare as auto-include. Face hunters don't run it, and midrange hunters only do sometimes. That, plus with hunter popularity sharply declined from pre-GvG nerfs, makes Freeze Mage actually viable on ladder. There are more Warriors (and the Warrior matchup for Freeze mage is now literally auto-concede the moment you see a Shield Maiden played), but Warriors use to be pretty damned rare in ranked.

Yeah, well, this is part of the reason why I said I wasn't concerned about my druid deck being super good the other night - I just want to play a bunch of games cuz I'm still missing so many core cards for other decks I'd want to play.

Very few Rogues though. I've played a fair bit of Mech Rogue myself, don't think it's that good. Rogue just has no way to sustain aggro past ~turn 6.

The only reason I'd use Gazlowe Rogue over Gazlowe Druid is because of Sensai. I'd instantly replace Junkbot for Sensai, but I reeaaaaaallllllly love Mech Bear Car and Robo Cub, so idk.

What I really hate is when I run into these ridiculously top-heavy Control Warriors (in the mirror). They're still running Sylvanas, Cairne, Geddon, Gorehowl and Big Game Hunter, meanwhile I've cut all of those cards for better vs aggro and I still get killed t5-6 sometimes by Mech.
