happens everywhere I just thinks its disgusting some prick who kicks a ball can be so arrogant, earn so much money and think he's gods gift when he has next to zero useful skills. Yet the people liable to save his / his families lives throughout his life are overworked, underpaid highly skilled professionals. I hold the same hatred for most people in the public eye, footballers, F1 Drivers, movie stars, most disgust me. Its mostly the way the world works that disgusts me though, unless they happen to be arrogant cockbags like ronaldo.
except it's much easier to become someone who can save lives than to become a professional footballer everyone plays football as a kid and very few develop the skill and dedication to get to that level people just label the ones who do as talented and say life is unfair and go on with their lives.
how much a skill is useful is very debateable, at the heart of things the only things that are truely useful are farmers and people who build houses and maybe nurses and doctors we only "need" food and shelter to stay alive but people really want entertainment and possessions. all value is decided by people in the economy it's a reasonably fair system. if a skill is in demand (take programming) it will pay well and employ so more people will flock to that skill unless its too difficult (footballers on ronaldos level are always going to be in demand since theres so few that are they good and are very entertaining to watch)

Maybe just too handsome.

also someone like ronaldo is very unlikely to need anyone to save his life considering that he's in peak health and condition and is unlikely to develop any major disease maybe cancer when he's old and going to die relatively soon anyway

I think it's a combo of hansomeness and smugness. Plenty of handsome bros out there that I don't want to punch in the face. But ronaldo's just looks so punchable.

I also think a lot of superstars act excedingly cocky in public, but don't forget the media role of sensationalizing everything, as well as that it might be a facade to keep som level of privacy, and most importantly of all - don't forget how many people look up to these superstars, and how much fun they give by doing what they do.

I forgot that Velvet Revolver was a thing

I just find it funny as hell everyone was all up in arms over Brasil's corruption and the allegations of fifa's unsavory nature but the moment the games start it's all about football and sports and to hell with the rest. I mean I guess you could make the argument that might as well enjoy it as you can't do anything but man is it silly when you really think about it.

I heard Vincent Price by Deep Purple yesterday. Really surprised by how it turned out (not that it was bad, mind you; just really, really surprised considering what I'd listened to from them).
^ People's opium, that's how it works! And once the cup is over most of them will have forgotten all about what they were discussing before.

The way he plays is also incredibly selfish to the point of actually being a negative influence on the team. This has happened plenty of times in the Portuguese team. Sure there's games where he puts the team on his back but if he wasn't so dam arrogant about it he wouldn't be nearly as hated.

Most life threatening diseases don't give a fuck what condition you're in, and an accident can happen to anyone at any time. I know you have a posting style but this is just some stupid shit.
I actually agree with your stance on 'value' and whatnot though, it's all about economics, and it literally cannot work both ways that people seem to want it to(doctors should make amazing money and not be overworked, but health care is free and available to all!).

hmm, what life threatening disease can you name that arent cancer (in fact even cancer because of youth) that aren't massively reduced based on youth//health
accidents can happen to everyone but overwhelmingly I would say reckless/careless/drunk people
|
There's plenty of freak accidents and you can also be surrounded by said reckless/careless/drunk people.
|
Soniv are you getting on tonight? I kind of want to try Esper for a bit.
|
"freak accident" implies extremely low probability. If you're not the person causing the accident it's really unlikely that you're going to be one of the people involved in it.
