2 people are invited by fan vote every season. Liquipedia isn't updated to include the names yet, but it seems to be Scarlett and Trap this season.

he plays in weeklies as well.

He's been around a bit, has a high ceiling just inconsistent. He and Bunny both looked a bit off in their games today + Show Spoiler +so not a shock they didn't advance

First bracket games went pretty much as expected.
Pretty brutal for shin to have your first two games follow your script but still get shut down and lose.
herO's PvZ still not very convincing. Don't think superior mechanical skill is going to be enough to go the distance for the rest.
Wonder what dice roll patches and hotfixes we'll get between the next matches. Still feel bad for maru.

Well another day of pretty meh series, but on the plus side a week from now we get clem v serral and hero v rogue.
The TvT game 3 had the makings for potentially the best of the year but Byun decided to force almost entirely marines after the game got back to normalcy. I get not wanting to play heavy tank air superiority battles but not throwing down another starport for ravens to at least have some chance at getting through tanks seems a bit stubborn. A potentially epic game just ended up disappointing.
Not really much to take away from the ZvZ other than game 2 being decent. Rogue defended the early game pretty much as good as you could from that spot, then once the muta war was in full swing there was a brief moment where lambo had the army advantage with upgrades being even, but there is no way of telling so can't really fault him for not sending it. Knowing your behind on eco in a mirror is a tough spot.

Rogue still hasn't lost a map this tournament. So either he will continue that streak now and actually qualify for Blizzcon OR Serral will be the same old party-pooper and destroy him in the next match, right?

Great games, game2 Clem Serral was so close, did not expect Serral to claw his way back there

Yeah aside from the game1 eco cheese the series was easily the highest level sc2 to date. So easy to snowball an advantage and neither would make a mistake until the game got big enough. Any other player falls there at multiple points in each game. Pretty incredible to watch.
Thought herO would get 0-3'd but got my hopes up after seeing game 1 figuring he had been hiding and saving that style (Since they played shortly before and he looked like he was just messing around in that series). But.. he never added a bay, archives, or 4th and missed his chance to shove at ~9 minutes to take a very probable win. Then decided to abandon that for the rest of the series and the other two games played out how I thought they would. Though I didn't even mind the 1 base attempt on exarch, that map looks terrible to play.
Hopeful for Clem vs herO. I don't think Rogue beats Clem but I do think Rogue is the only one who has a solid chance at beating Serral this tournament.

Clem v Serral was absolutely nuts.
The last patches felt super close for them... this one favors Serral's playstyle lightly, the other favored Clem's. Now, Clem's aggro is delayed, which gives Serral more time to put up better defenses.
It will be interesting to see, if the French man is able to overcome this deficit, the same way Serral did last patch.
Other than that.. I can only see Serral being knocked out by a coinflippy Zerg match versus Rogue.
herO is able to take Serral down as well, as seen at MotG, but I think Serral will have already adjusted to the style herO threw at him in that tournament. My money is on Serral this time around, as all matches are Bo7 for him from now on. But Clem, herO and Rogue are also hot candidates.

Rogue is not even a top 3 Zerg at the moment, he could take one game but thats about it. His form also dipped since last month RSL, this was dissapointing but predictable. Wish we could see another Serral Maru in Blizzcon.

Seems like zergs figured out that Rogue was eco-cheesing or cutting corners a lot, so they started building a lot more aggression/timings into their play against him and checking his ability to defend

Using retired players for Showmatches its always a coinflip on how much they have been playing, like that Chinese one, I don't think Fantasy managed to even take 1 map, meanwhile Scarlett smoked everyone out.

Man, I started doing something else while they were still preparing Serral vs. Rogue and when I tuned back a few minutes later Serral already won 4-0, haha.
The Idra vs. MC showmatch was exactly as one-sided as I expected. Idra's ZvP was terrible even during his heyday, and he didn't play for 13 years while MC was vaguely active even during LotV. I had zero hope for Idra to be competitive in modern ZvP against MC, not with respect to the early game timings, much less in the lategame.

i liked the idea, but idra vs mc was really a big mismatch. idra was like 3700 mmr and mc more like 5000 mmr. they should have taken someone worse then mc if they wanted to american oldschool player on the stage.
the games of rogue vs serral were very timing based and not too much fun for me at least. zvz can be fun, but it was a little bit too one-sided.

I guess he hasn’t played the premier prep tournament, but his ability to adjust to someone who’s giving him trouble is pretty damn underrated, or indeed general stylistic traits more generally
It’s a shame SC2 rather contracted, Clem versus Serral as a rivalry with those higher stakes would have been fascinating.

It's actually rather ridiculous.
MC gets $20,000 for quickly beating up Idra. Serral gets less than 15% of that, some $2,200, for winning RSL S6.
As neat as this is for MC, Blizzard should have invested that money into something meaningful for the SC2 community, not a goofy mismatched legacy match. $20k would literally make for one of the biggest SC2 tourneys of the year in terms of prize pool.
By the way, Artosis (inadvertently?) roasted Blizzard on this point at BlizzCon during the Serral vs. Rogue match when he said: "There is no community like the SC community; they keep this game alive more than anybody."
