This is an AfreecaTV exclusive, though you can always follow the stream here on tl.net as well. I hope we get tons of folks tuning in to the stream - Now more than ever, it's so important that we show our love and support for AfreecaTV!

Congratz on scoring that gig Creighton

Wow this is insane ! GG and thanks !

Awesome! I appreciate all the effort you put in to get this going - I remember from the last thread.
What finally worked to get Blizzard's attention to approve it, if you don't mind?

It was a pretty complex process! Had to get approvals from the players, from AfreecaTV, and from Blizzard too. I negotiated my butt off to ensure that everyone involved was happy with the method and structure of the stream. These companies all have different goals that don't always align, and it's SO IMPORTANT to find a solution that keeps all of them happy! It just took a little persistence and negotiating savvy.

Perhaps someone can help, I had a weird issue with Afreeca and the fix was something really odd, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was.
The mobile app works pretty well at least, get my Flash fix from there
|
The fix on PC/laptop -> go to "View on Afreeca" -> click "Go to Blog" (streamer portrait) -> once you are on the streamer profile page, click on the stream thumbnail to get back to the stream page. It should now be working fine.
I think it refreshes previously cached page that might have broken the player. And to get around the Chinese firewall, anyone may use a high speed overseas VPN in close proximity to your city.

So cool. Thanks for the effort, that's really well done!

Croots is a super cool dude, I played wow with him for years before finding out he even like starcraft lol. Congrats on the GSL gig, you deserve it!

Reminder to everyone that this will be casted from replays and not live.
Don't hit the Liquipedia link or you'll spoil the results for yourself like I just did

So this should be live in 1 hour and 45 minutes from the time of this post?
Oh, this is casted from replays too? Thats ok, I cannot wait to watch this :D

Oh it's from replays. Well, still nice to have these games casted

Yes! Cast starts at 2300 KST (about 45 minutes from *this* post!)
|
Cool. I saw this thread just in time to tune in when the stream starts.
|
First match is Stats vs. Super. Does that mean Super is back from military?
|
Are you the guy casting Olsen?
|
sOs! What a god; beautiful micro and execution.
|
your casting is really good, i enjoyed it. good job!
|
|
Pretty good viewership considering this is at 10 am. Anyone else slacking off at work?
|
Enjoying the cast so far! Would be cool to have non-Liquipedia and spoiler-free brackets. It is more exciting for me as a viewer if I know what is at stake for the players in a match: Is this the qualifying match? Are they out if they loose this game or do they get another chance in a lower bracket?

I think there's another qualifier they can go to tomorrow
|
ahhh wish i hadn't spoilt it for myself - looks like there are some sick games played today - such a missed opportunity in years gone by not casting those games!
|
Honestly despite the nervousness that would be expected anyway, I quite enjoy the casting. Love the energy too.

I don't understand why Protoss players dont scout, and why they leave edges of bases without vision.

Too bad it's from replays but I get it. The solo casting is excellent, would love to see you more!

Also it's much more organized. Back in the day when SPOTV streamed their qualifiers for every event, you'd still miss out on some qualification matches and have huge amounts of downtime from waiting for certain matches, since all the brackets move at completely different speeds. There were instances of players waiting for literal hours to play their matches but had to wait because the stream was not ready.

I would have expected a community update before season 3, I hope we don't have a repeat experience of Super Tournament and season 2.

or blizzard can just let the metagame settle instead of knee jerk reactions
the last community update is what led to the pvz mess in the first place (queen nerf, creep nerf, carrier nerf, tempest nerf, HT nerf, cheaper robo)

It's usually customary for people to fix things when they break them.

rather blizzard gives the meta some time, and thinks things through, instead of just frequent knee jerk reactions.
unless they want to just revert the last patch, which wont happen

For the players that didn't qualify day 1, the groups being roughly even on day 2 is infinitely more significant than balance.

Maybe instead of fixing it they ended up changing what the problem was, but it needed addressing even before that patch.
Although given not as much complaining happened on last patch it seems people's perception of a matchup being broken stems from how ugly the games look, not how favoured one race is. Just like the raven anti-armour missile.

I think Protoss is overall the weakest race of the three. Been arguing that since last year
At the highest level of play I think Protoss 2 base timings are too strong against Zerg. Basically Every other facet of the matchup is Zerg favored imo.

It's really great to be able to see these qualifiers for the first time, great job Creighton!
On the other hand, I'm not liking the casting at all... I think he is too overconfident: too much "rap" (it gets really annoying after 6 seconds), too many predictions ("he's got X units, so I think he is going to Y") that turn out to be wrong, absolutely no information about builds or strats, ... lots of passion but little knowledge imo.
I say this as a constructive criticism. Casting solo is really hard, and it's great to have this cast and see the games
|
Creighton does an amazing job at casting this. Maru vs. Scarlett is epic!

In the same way I don't need Tasteless to read the supplies and production tab for me. It's great to have him to entertain me and bring a bit more life to the game.
Miscalls happen to all casters anyway. There's so many players it's way too hard to be able to properly gauge their tendencies.

By the way what happened to the lower bracket finals of group E? No replays or just forgotten?

Exactly, and we are lucky to have Artosis next to Tasteless or the cast would be terrible. When you have no game knowledge (builds, strats, etc.) you need someone who does as a cocaster. If you are a solo caster you have to be something in between.
And miscalls happen ofc, but if you don't have that game knowledge, you shouldn't make those because odds are you are gonna be wrong in the vast majority of them, or keep them as low as possible, pointing out the obvious outcomes maybe.

You are correct- there have been several attempts to bring the GSL qualifiers to the masses. NoRegreT often streams his own qualifying matches, there's been an over-the-shoulder camera on site before, and of course, Code A used to be a thing!
That said, there's never been an officially-sanctioned cast of the qualifiers in the modern era, so I feel OK about saying this is the "first ever." Seasoned fans will know it's true in spirit!
