Little war game was an RTS done well. Dawn of War 1 was also good despite no precise unit control.
The problem with most RTS is that developers don't seem to know why good RTS games are good and they have a lot of "cool ideas", but nearly 0 refinement in them and end up making shit like Grey Goo.

They talked about RTS games on The Bunker, it's not my fault you don't follow Starcraft as closely as me.

The real reason why protoss is so strong lategame is that they can get 3 extra armor upgrades bc of shields so they'll always be on 9 ugprades vs 6 which is pretty damn good

They did mention sOs fucked up his timing completly .
sOs: No one cared who I was until I started going mass oracle. Solar: If I hold it off, would you die? sOs: It would be extremely painful. Solar: You're a big guy! sOs: For you.
later...
Solar: Was getting caught part of your plan? Solar: Well, congratulations! You got yourself caught! Now what's the next step in your master plan? sOs: Crashing this game... with no survivors!

It was definitely a build a year ago, sOs used to do it and it infested a ladder for a while. It became popular again when people discovered stasis traps are actually a spell.
feel like solar is the korean TLO, super likeable creative micro guy who often appears to be really good and succeeds after patches but is somehow just overall a tier below the top players in his region

Can't agree with you, Solar has made it to the grand final of 8 Ptremier tournament and won half of them. A triple time Dreamhack champion and a SSL champion is nowhere near TLO's level...

It's hard to say really. Rogue is supposed to be in better form than Stats, but Stats is a far more successful player this year.
I think, Stats is an excellent player. But Rogue is the best player in Korea right now.
We are lagging too far behind as spectators imho: the best player in Korea changes almost daily but we don't get to see them ladder and stuff.
I mean, Rogue is unbeatable the last few months already. Of course, he loses from time to time in some online tournaments, but otherwise, he is stellar. Maybe, he is too long on the top (few months), so the time might come to lose that spot. I just hope, he wins GSL before he loses the first place.

So he isn't more unbeatable than any other player lol. He won 21k $ this year and afaik only one LAN tournament (IEM). I think people overestimate Rogue because he used to be super shit but became champion contender recently again, so now he is as much hyped as INno.

Zest is best.
Only when adepts were OP iirc, TY was better in that finals he lost.
Zest didn't do any adept allins in that series though. Out of the 4 won games, one was a DT bust, 2 were failed allins by TY, and one was TY forgetting a starport

He almost (should have) won the last GSL season and won all offline tournaments since then. Plus being no. 1 on ladder regularly for a few months.
RO8 is almost and should have won GSL? TIL.
Thats kinda true though, Rogue should have beaten soO and would have stomped Classic and Gumi
He didn't though. In the end he lost in the ro8 and that's all that counts
I never said otherwise. Hence "almost" GSL finalist

We are lagging too far behind as spectators imho: the best player in Korea changes almost daily but we don't get to see them ladder and stuff.

well im sure theres some guy in silver league that had a 5 hour game on daybreak but clearly nobody would be interested in that??????
In fact I had a 10 hour game where my opponent refused to leave and I long-distance mined with one scv to avoid the draw and went afk after 10 hours my opponent got bored and left (serious)

Zest is best.
Only when adepts were OP iirc, TY was better in that finals he lost.
Zest didn't do any adept allins in that series though. Out of the 4 won games, one was a DT bust, 2 were failed allins by TY, and one was TY forgetting a starport
So what? o_o Doesn't change the fact that Zest looked like a god when adepts were very strong, and had a slow downfall from there, kinda like PtitDrogo. Just because he didn't go like Seed vs Bomber doesn't mean he wasn't a bit carried by adepts. He is still a superb protoss, but Zest is best era was when adepts were strong. Stats has been better on LotV than Zest.

You're acting like Zest was carried by Adepts though, saying TY played better in their finals, despite the fact that most of the games were utter failures on TY's part (like making thors or forgetting starports).
Stats has been more consistent and Zest in LoTV ofc. But Zest at his peak was the better PvT and PvP for sure

Yea he was super fucking dominate, even during IEM.
The ideal scenario would be Inno and Stats splitting GSL/SSL. Definitely the two players in korean starcraft this year. Ofc Stats winning both would be hype as well.

No I'm tired of people defending him as some zerg god even after he just lost. The guy won 21k $ this year out of nowhere and he is praised as the Dark of 2017 or something?
I think people don't accept that sc2 is highly volatile at the top level, so whenever someone "new" wins a tournament, they think he is gonna do well in the next tournaments and if not, it's just bad luck or whatever. But the harsh truth is that they are all at the same level depending on days.
About sOs becoming better because Blizzcon is soon, I share this opinion too and that's why I gambled and betted on him: when he is expected to crush foreigners he plays like shit so we think he is bad, but when everybody starts to think he is bad he can make great upsets. His wins and losses are as hard to predict for us as his gameplay is for his opponents.

It's not really an out-of-nowhere win when he was crushing ladder at that time and was long overdue for a win. Rogue has been a GSL Ro8 level player for a large part of the last few years and can definitely win if he ups his game just a tiny bit more

Everybody and anybody "crushes" ladder. A lot of players are GSL ro8 level players (basically all the koreans left could be seen as ro8 level players depending on group stages luck), and all of them CAN definitely win if they up their game a tiny bit as well.
Basically your answer supports the point that all the KR players left (that were decent to begin with, not "bad" ones like Billowy or whatever) are very close in skill.

Nah a Ro8 player is one who can be reasonably favored to make top 8, not just one who maybe could. Not every single Korean player is that. Rogue is just a few holes in his mental game away from being GSL champ level, hence why today was a huge disappointment.

Rogue is by far the best Zerg of this year. If he is mentally prepared and does not feel that much pressure, he is the most solid Z player across all 3 matchups. And there we go... "if he is mentally prepared and does not feel that much pressure". That is what Rogue is all about. He was the better player last GSL against soO, he even had the last game won but crumbled under pressure. He was the favourite against State in his current form and ZvP being his best MU but again he made it easy for Stats and basically defeated himself by using stupid builds. He was top 3 Korea ladder for what, half a year? Maybe he still is? 7k+ MMR for 3 months? That is not an easy feat at all.
People are right to hype him up because he deserves it, at least for this year. Anyone who saw him play knows what a beast he is. If he ever sorts out the issues in his head in important matches he will be GSL champ level for sure

And I maintain you can find a lot of these players. Maru, TY, INno, ByuN, aLive for terrans. Dark, Rogue, soO, Solar for zergs. Stats, Classic, herO, sOs, Zest for protosses.
That's already 14 players that are Ro8 level players and I probably forgot some :x. Basically all the SSL players (premier+challenge) could be considered GSL ro8 because they are at roughly the same level.
So all those players are similar level, including Rogue, but his winning was also "out of nowhere"? Rogue had been more consistent than those other zergs in the last few weeks too, and had beaten Stats the last 3 times they played. Fine, of course in Starcraft its never a 100% bet but it was a better than most

Alive and sOs? :D Seriously?
Inno, Stats, TY. The rest are currently not on Rogues level. You may make a case for soO, but he is only better in ZvZ, so I would not put him there. I sincerely hope Rogue wins the super tournament to prove himself further, he definitely has what it takes just needs to come in with a clear head.
Yes, aLive made it to the finals of GSL Super Tournament, he has been a GSL ro8 level player this year. He made it further in a GSL than Rogue afaik? Even tho it's not "the" GSL, it's the same players and a similar format. I'm pretty sure he won more prize money than Rogue btw, but I was not comparing aLive to Rogue, but rather just listing GSL ro8 players (my point is that almost all SSL players can be considered GSL ro8 level)
sOs just made ro4 so I'm pretty sure he is a GSL ro8 level player LOL You should reread the conversation because you miss the point.

His IEM winning was out of nowhere since almost any active KR player (from the SSL premier+challenge) could have won it depending on form.
Remember guys, this conversation started because when I said I liquidbetted for Rogue against Stats, I thought I was taking a risk, but some guy then said "wtf, Rogue is the obvious pick" and I wasn't that sure of that. Two hours later Rogue is defeated. I'm just trying to say that we should not overhype players because then we don't find a good reason for their failure other than shit ones (happened with Rogue in GSL, and INno in SSL) And I definitely voted for Rogue because he was hyped currently and I didn't manage to see his games to judge it myself :x
edit: that's the post I'm talking about: Mine:
Fuck yeah!!! That paid off so well!! Now if only Rogue beats Stats :D.
Some guy: "Rogue beats Stats ez-pz. I just feel sorry that Rogue might stop sOs's BlizzCon dream ..."
Of course I am salty since I was doing great in LB but betting Rogue was actually a mistake :/. (it was more like 50-50 than one player winning for sure)

Okay, fair enough I went off topic a bit...
Nevertheless about the LBs, you should not take 1 fanboy opinion for granted. Hell I am a Rogue fanboy and I expected a close tough match. I did bet on Rogue because I felt it was a safer bet in his current form but well, I aint too surprised Stats won, just sad This was a tough one you should not feel bad really...

Well at least not me. I trust that Stats is the better player, but today I take the chance to choose Rogue (just the feeling of him will make me suprise). You actually not need for depressed, the games are close, it could happen another way.

Considering he was the first zerg to win a tournament with korean players since 10 months, you can call him a zerg god.
It may be volatile, but at the highest level the winner is often Protoss or Terran.
Fun fact, Zerg hasn't won a GSL since january 2015 on HOTS (and it was Life).

Lol people saying Rogue's overrated despite being the only Korean zerg to win a tournament this year
And reaching GSL playoffs twice in a row is impressive as hell. Its just a shame he peaked now and not earlier in the year. There's no shame in losing in GSL ro8, especially losing 3-2 someone with 12200 WCS points
On August 31 2017 05:51 pvsnp wrote: So Rogue has lost in the Ro8. Therefore, it is guaranteed that Stats will lose to sOs, who wins the whole thing.
Or has the Rogue curse been broken?
Last season it turned out soO curse is stronger than Rogue curse.
Ah, so the Rogue-killer-killer now loses in the finals? Gotcha. In other words, everybody on Rogue's side of the bracket is doomed.
Also worth noting that if Inno makes the finals, he's swept both sOs and Stats in big-stage finals before (WCS Season 1 and IEM Gyeonggi, respectively). On top of that, he's beaten the rest of the Splyce roster in the finals this year, but Stats wasn't on Splyce at Gyeonggi (and that was in 2016 anyhow).

Stats will help sOs to go to GSL final again, Rogue knows it.
if sOs manages to get to the final, he will get screwed by any of the lower bracket players. That's the truth that sOs cannot win tournaments where the opponents have plenty of time to prepare for each match.

Honestly, it looked like Rogue could have taken Stats if he'd had some different strategies in some of those games. Even though he lost, this is the series that made me believe in Rogue for real. Give him just a little more time and at some point, he might be one of the greats.

I was originally going to vote for Rogue before I watched him fall apart to Bunny a few days prior in Masters Coliseum.
Not the same match up sure, but it shows weakness in mentality in a best of 5 format if things aren't going as smoothly as he would like. And, that's exactly what happened.
