I mean, it would be 5 GSL Ro8s in a row. I believe last time that happened was Soulkey's 2012-2013 run, right? Actually nvm, Soulkey had 4 GSLs and 1 OSL, TY is basically a group stage away from a record or something.

The groups were somewhat reasonable before the swap if Bunny is as good as the players seem to rate him, but putting Hurricane and Patience in the same group basically gives Stats and TY a free pass to the Ro8 while everyone else gets a murder's row.
My predictions:
Group A
1st: INnoVation
2nd: Solar
Group B
1st: sOs
2nd: herO
Group C
1st: Rogue
2nd: Classic
Group D
1st: Stats
2nd: TY

Holy shit groups A and C are insane. Everyone in them aside from Dark and Classic have been in, or won, a finals this year.
If Inno/ Gumiho, herO/Byun, soO/Rogue, and Stats/TY make it out. Would give us an almost identical ro8 to last season

i think soO's spree in reaching finals will end this season. Even if he makes trough, if i'm correct he will get a terran from gumiho's group. Unless Solar or Alive pulls a miracle i don't see him past ro8.

If soO would face someone from group D in ro8 (if he gets 1st in his group he meats 2nd from group D, if he gets 2nd he faces 1st from group D). He could beat Stats maybe, but no way he beats TY in his current ZvT form.
Then again don't underestimate soO's clutchability in playoffs. And don't underestimate TY's chokeability in playoffs either

You are right, he'll get opponent from D if he qualifies. But his current vT is looking terrible. No matter how i make my predictions he sooner or later meets a terran where i don't see him advance.

INnoVation just beat the shit out of TY, arguably the best TvT player in the world. 4-0, and though the games were somewhat close Inno played like a god the entire series.
Before that he beat ByuN 3-1 and Maru twice, 2-1 both times. While Gumiho's TvT is also excellent INnoVation has been crushing top Terrans left and right and is unquestionably the best Terran around right now, and arguably the best player in the world.
Gumiho has some massive balls though, gotta admire that.

Why would he regret it though? He said during group selection that he doesn't really care too much about winning this GSL since he's already qualified for Blizzcon, and that his ultimate goal is to make it easier for people who have helped him train. Taking Inno off of the market for the other groups goes a long way in accomplishing that.

Last season Classic said he didn't care about the group as long as he avoided terrans. He got a group with Inno, TY, and aLive

Classic and Dark definitely got the worst of this Ro16. Rogue and soO are basically playing for first vs second at this point.
Dark in particular, that Ro16 curse is real. At least Classic made the semis last season.
INnoVation on the other hand is probably fine, he's shown that he can play TvT like a god by going 4-0 against TY. He might lose to Gumiho but second place is basically the worst case for him.

idk man, i think he's okay against solar but he's got a tough task in alive. this year, inno beat alive in ssl s1 and s2, but alive beat inno in gsl s2, iem world championships, and super tournament.

Which was why Inno explicitly said he took some time and fixed his TvT. Right before he beat ByuN, Maru (twice), and TY in a single week. Inno's TvT form right now is insane, and as long as he keeps showing the same form that he did against TY, he will roflstomp aLive.
To put things into perspective, before Inno made that announcement his winrate was 53% (8-7) in offline TvT series for 2017. Since then, it is 100% (7-0).
