Zergs presence is more and more predominant as the round goes. Let's look at every zerg win. Nerchio vs ShoWTimE : Very tight set, both players play very well, extremely tense until the last second. Lilbow vs SortOf : Lilbow gets advantages, throws it by going all-in with blink stalkers time and time again. MajOr vs Snute : Snute outplayed MajOr by holding him off, Snute was the favorite, no big deal. Hydra vs Happy : Hydra heavy favorite, wins in a close set. FireCake vs Has : FireCake is the definite favorite, plays smart and tactically against a cheesy player. MarineLorD vs viOLet : Tense, tight set, MarineLorD loses based on his own mistakes and his own choices, not imba. MaSa vs Snute : Snute is the heavy favorite. So, really, the only 'upsets' were MarineLorD vs viOLet and Lilbow vs SortOf, both of which involved the non-zerg making a few key mistakes while the zerg played well and largely out-performed the other race. I don't think zerg is necessarily imba, I just think the zergs have proven to be the best players in this tournament. Problem with that logic is that if zerg were to be the strongest race it would be easier to be considered "favorite" only time Nerchio lost a set vs Showtime was in LotV (they peaked at different times though) SortOf vs Lilbow - SortOf was terrible in late HotS, I'll give you that, but Lilbow also sucks now so it's pretty sketchy MajOr vs Snute isn't close in any metagame where Snute gets to play lategame (Snute is 2:1 in sets in HotS, lost only in an online cup) Hydra vs Happy - they never met offline and have been trading sets online in cups on EU in both LotV and HotS FireCaek vs Has - just lol MarineLorD vs viOlet - probably 50:50 in HotS? viOlet and MLord peaked at different times (MLord 2-1 viOlet in series in HotS, viOlet won 2-0 last time they met) MaSa vs Snute - 50:50 at best in HotS (MaSa won a bo1 online and then Snute beat him 2:0 at IEM)
so I hope that settles it

I don't think zerg is necessarily imba, I just think the zergs have proven to be the best players in this tournament. Problem with that logic is that if zerg were to be the strongest race it would be easier to be considered "favorite" Except all the players he named as favorites would still have been considered favorites in HotS. EDIT: Darn, Soularion sniped me. When Behind, Dark Shrine. So what? By that HotS logic Lilbow would never lose to SortOf unless zerg super strong or something. But it's not HotS so favorite on HotS doesn't translate well to favorite on LotV. The only thing that would help with the ZvZ would be to have a korean protoss. Yeah, but then you look at the actual games- MaSa and MajOr vs Snute are Snute consistently out-playing, Has vs FireCake is FireCake outplaying, and presumably Happy vs Hydra is Hydra outplaying (although I didn't watch the matches).
SortOf vs Lilbow is Lilbow outplaying, only to end up going far too aggressive by going into blink all-in time after time. Does this make sense with his playstyle? Yes. Does this make sense with the meta? Yes. What about this screams 'zerg OP' to you, and how could Blizz nerf zerg without it tilting in the other direction?

Soulkey was supposed to be one of the best Zergs but he played terribly. soO and Dark are the Zerg players you expect to advance but that still only makes it 4/16.
