PartinG was rank #1 ladder at one point, so I think it's 50-50 for that match

Simply because in gsl s3 he was knocked out by losing to sos and life, and took a game from sos.
I don't see the logic in this. Stork got eliminated in the Ro32 by sOs and Life months before Blizzcon so he's better than Solar who made it further in the tournament and actually beat sOs at Dreamhack a month before Blizzcon?
Announcing the Sandisk Extreme Pro Community Bonus Pool:
We are letting the community decide who gets bonus prize-money every day during the SHOUTcraft Invitational 2.
LR threads will feature a poll at the end of each day and $1000 per day will be up for grabs and split amongst the players based on their votes. Did a player get knocked out yet put up a brave fight that you feel deserves a reward? Was there an amazing play that we've never seen before that you think deserves to be highlighted? Your votes will determine where that extra $1000 per day, for a total of $3000, is awarded.

We will not be releasing replays, the players dont like it and there are several big off-season tournaments coming up very soon they're participating in and would prefer not to have their builds so easily studied.
Honestly it's been a long time since we released replays for anything. We see very little benefit, almost nobody downloads them, yet it upsets our invited players so it makes little sense to do so.

While i like it in theory, i think in the end it will be a popularity contest just like with every poll ever.

We are entirely ok with it being a popularity contest.
It's also worth noting the last time we did something like this Darkforce was the one who walked away with the bulk of the money.
Hah that is interesting, that was a while ago hehe. I hope the "pimpest play" actually gets the money though, time to have faith in the community i guess :D It would be cool if you would choose some worthy actions and show them at the end of the day and let people vote based on that (i guess that might be hard to do though, so probably not worth the effort for tomorrow, but just an idea which would be interesting for the future )
Well whatever, i am pretty hyped to see some LOTV action , TY, Rogue and Zest GOOOOO

TY has been using liberators and tanks.
Bomber used liberators. Zest used adepts and disruptors but was really bad. Solar uses ravagers. Stork used adepts (he never got much further in the tech tree). Rogue used the new corruptor (and tried going for the new ultra and died). And ravagers.

What are you on? We have seen Adept, Liberators, Ravagers and Disruptors. They are basically just doing what is viable. Unfortuantely, the diversity seems to be really bad in LOTV with certain compositions dominating specific matchups.

Really? Because out of ~50 TvZ's I've seen, every Terran was going for a lot of Liberators, and Zergs were going for mass Roaches and Ravagers with Corruptors, or Lings and Banes with Lurkers...
I've seen plenty of new units and different compositions from both sides(less from Terrans though) so I don't really agree that old strategies are still the best.

Imagine if timing attack/all-ins were heavily nerfed so players wouldn't try this stupid shit. And instead developers could focus on promoting aggressive macrogames. Would be so much more fun to play than this one-battle-into-gg.

LotV tries to do that. Its just these games aren't very representative of LotV I feel. I've seen much better Legacy games elsewhere.
Disruptors are fun but Medivac healing rate is just frustarting. Literraly means low burst/no AOE-units cannot kill bio units, which can make the game quite snowbally.

Maybe as an upgrade. The way Parting had his Disruptors postured made them more zoning and defensive. If he put them more forward he could get the ball into Byun's army better but would also put them in danger -- which I feel is a good design.

The thing is that this also gives the enemy more time to split/whatever. I feel like a manual explode option wouldn't be really broken either?

Longer time basically means more range, not sure if that is needed. I feel like the main problem is that you have to focus on the shot till it explodes, i think that might be the only micro in the game which works like that (fill focus on one thing only otherwise it's useless)

I don't think that's really the same though. Splitting is really fast and every additional second you invest in the micro you just get a potentially better result. With the disruptor you HAVE TO focus on it till it explodes otherwise it doesn't do anything really. Pretty different concept imo

I'm sorry, I was just being pedantic. I know what you mean, and I agree. But to be honest, if you're "only" gonna split you 30 marines blob into 3 blobs of 10 marines, you might as well not split at all :p That's what I wanted to say: you have to "commit" to the split as well, otherwise you're still not being cost-efficient. But I agree, it doesn't feel similar to the disruptor thingy. Anyway, sorry for the thread-derailing.

Haha i see Well yes you have to commit to splitting too soemwhat, i still think it is faster and what is more important, you have it in your hand entirely for that commitment. Good splits will always be good, so you don't waste your time doing it. A well microed disruptor shot still can do absolutely nothing if the enemy is on top of his micro. When i think about the disruptor concept, i really dislike it now. (i also hope it is ok to somewhat argue about LOTV in this thread )

Ah nice. I really like Swann so far (I haven't tried the Zergs yet because Zerg is my worst). There was an angle there that he could've fought without going into the 7+ liberator zone
edit: Not that im nowhere near close to partings skill or understanding of the game, it's just that i think liberators will be much weaker once people grind some lotv and learn how to deal with it better

SC2 is deathbally, it would take a complete overhaul of how the game handles unit collision and pathing to change that.

I think Immos are about the same in the scenario. If Parting controlled their shield manually and activated it when the marines were focusing on the Immortal it would have been better. But when he actually engaged with the Immos their shields were on cooldown because they got pot-shot by a tank previously.
Guys. Guys I figured it out. How to defend 111 on that map. You just make a pylon at the choke which creates a wall-off. When the 111 comes you Overcharge it. It forces the Terran to kill the Pylon only with the tank which will take a while buying you more time to prepare your defense.

Yeah, disruptors and liberators surely have their own problems and I can kinda understand people complaining but even then it is way more interesting than bio vs colossus/stalker ball ever was imo
On November 14 2015 02:48 KtJ wrote: So how were the other games today?
Much worse than this. Much, much worse.
What happened in TY/Rogue?
They played 1 nice macro game where Rogue died during a hive transition and other 2 were really bad all-ins
To be more precise:
Game 1 - Rogue loses 2 drones to a reaper, goes for a 2-base bane bust, doesn't kill, follow-up roach/ravager attack gets shut down even worse, he rolls over and dies.
Game 2 - macro game.
Game 3 - roach stuff into nydus shenanigans, but banshees killed 22 workers while liberators and stimmed bio held the front.

yeah this reminds me of a non deathball style game and that's always more fun to watch and play.
I was about to comment the same thing. Only saw one of the games but was really fun to watch Protoss not turtling and colossi. Hopefully stays this way . I really like the disruptor as well.

I think you can deal with them in low numbers with blink but once they get to that 8+ mass you simply have to have tempests on the field

Tempest. Am I the only one who has been watching lotv tournaments? We've seen this before.

Beating brutal campaign is largely based on choosing the right strategy that takes the least execution to win. I wasn't watching but I have a feeling Parting wasn't doing that. Also if you're actually using that to judge his skill at this game LOL
I love Zest and I love Stork, but heck none of the guys that lost today have earned to win the extra money anywhere close to partinG heck, looking at some of the games some of the winners haven't even earned (as in they didn't have to do anything, their opponents just killed themselfs basically) it as much as PartinG!

Everyone was mad at the beginning of hots because zerg was super weak (particularly against terran due to nobody knowing how to beat mines/hellbats). Give it time

Indeed, we Protoss shall rise again, amidst yet again more and more balance whining constructive critizism towards the design of the race that is not at all balance whining in any way shape or form!

Yeah man totally comparable situations I mean hell Legacy has been out for 4 days now you'd think one of these protosses would've figured some big stuff out. Also btw Life vs terran at the beginning of HotS was just as sick as anything Mvp did during BL/infestor. (inb4 "but he didn't have a broken back")

I wouldn't say no to that, the games were glorious

Terran actually could win with good viking controll iirc, protoss was pretty fucked though for the most part

Life vs terran in early hots is during that MLG run is overrated. The game was never broken at that point. In hindsight terran was not imba at all during that period. Terran at the end of hots was stronger than terran at that mlg.

Nope. Teraan was completely fucked. Unless you were significantly ahead ie. your 2/2 bio-tank push all but kills zerg you'd lose no matter your viking control. Protoss had much more a chance albeit in an extraordinarily stupid way. Toss would hit vortex and win or miss and lose, or soul train. However, it allowed win rates to be closer to 50/50 in pvz compared to tvz in the dumbest way possible.

Whereas the perception of Mvp vs zerg during Bl/infestor is not overrated at all . Whether or not terran was broken (and I agree they weren't) zergs still hadn't figured out how to beat them (specifically widow mines) yet. Except Life.

Mvp won one tournament during broodlord infestor and that was mostly against foreign zergs.

it was the first tournament in HotS, how do you know zergs didn't know how to beat terran?

Not to mention, Zest was really bad yesterday and played like it was HotS, TY barely used liberators against Rogue, and ByuN who's probably the best LotV Terran in the tournament only barely won against the best LotV Protoss in the tournament.
I'd give it some time before going IMBA IMBA IMBA.
