Its legit as a game strat, ok, but I don't like it. It gives lesser players a chance to compete, to suprprise, to upset. Which may be exciting for some.
To me its exciting when the better player overall wins. You can now argue that using the right build in the right time is also showing you are a "better" player, but you know, I mean it in a "clean", macro way of things

I wouldn't classify Losira as early 2012 though, he made his GSL final mid 2011, IIRC and MLG Columbus happened around the same time.

both will regain strength.
Flash has been playing terrible recently but he always had his lows and comes back stronger.
Dortmund will also rise again, but not to the strength they had 2-3 yrs ago.

Flash is Patchterran. Zest slumps. And a team with only 4 core player will not succed this year. You need the rotation to buffer slumps and weaknesses.

You are entitled to your own opinion and I can't say I enjoy "cheese" much myself but if you think the players you like are "better" player you are just fooling yourself. Your arguement is pretty much as saying that dunks in basketball isn't really fair, I don't like them I think only three pointers should count and strategize for dunks is just for poor players or poor teams. Its just your opinion nothing else, macro is just one part of sc2.
To be even more frank though cheese never succeeds (with proper defence) if the players play safe, you know what that means. That means that the "macro" players you like so much are pretty much being greedy (mild version macro cheese) to play macro so well.
If they really were macro gods, they would open safe knowing that they would be able to defend cheese and then play into the mid-late game without being overly risky greedy. They don't do that, they say "hey I'm not sure I can win against you in a total even macro game so I'm going to be overly greedy and then hopefully I can win a macro game".
Winning a macro game when going into the mid game in a very advantegous economical position is hardly being "the best macro player".
