I think I know what he's trying to say, but I think gimmicky is word with a negative connotation. sOs is an incredibly smart player who is unorthodox and wins not by pure flawless execution (altho his execution is pretty damn good) but by getting into his opponents' heads, throwing them off, faking out and crafting builds to specific players, playstyles and maps. He also has incredible decision making and game sense like with what he said in that interview with the faux attack in the early game.

sOs is a master of psychology. The more vulnerable a player is to tunnel vision, emotions, or some sort of style, the more tools sOs has to wield against them. He's not mechanically a great player, and he may look "gimmicky", but he knows how to adapt to his opponent better than almost anyone from what I've seen. He also understands the game at a very fundamental level.

hmm? I think sOs has superb mechanics. That's why I always think of sOs as the best protoss when he's in peak form (which he doesn't maintain for long). He has all the bullshit builds and carefully crafted reactions to follow it up combined with solid standard play underneath it all. He's like the Protoss equivalent of Life.
That's what separates him from real gimmicky players like Tails.

sOs has definitely better mechanics than Tails but from a pure mechanics point of view he isn't even top5 in that regard

Yeah that should be why he can not make it to SSL and GSL. When you throw random opponents at him, he shows his weakness, that is unprepared matches.

I'm a Jin air fan and even I can't stand the hate on KT. They did win last season (beating Jin air) and while I think the boys in green do have the superior squad, let's see how this season plays out.

Seeing as i was not talking about "hate boners" earlier its weird to see it thrown into the discussion. However i dislike sOs as his playstyle imo brings the worst of sc2 up. I dont really like Zest as well, but the fact that someone actually called him a patchtoss is just wrong.
