I kinda hope a female player just blasts through the qualifiers to ruin the title of the tournament.

Let it be known I was the one who freakin' CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA cuz Rifkin didn't even know what art piece I was talking about.

this tourney has already been won by its title. gg

I forgot to include this in the OP, I'll edit it in later, but we'll accept any community casters that want to cover the qualifiers on two conditions:
- you don't lag to disrupt games, and if players ask you to leave you leave without hesitation - 3 minute delay on stream mandatory

I'm torn - in some ways I'd like BaseTradeTV to take itself more seriously and thus get bigger/better sponsorship and tournaments as a result, but in other ways I love that it stays true to its roots as a true community stream.

First EU qualifier seems to be at the same time as german EPS )= maybe Showtime should get an invite as we all like macro games =P?! btw. Thanks for so many great tournaments (with weird names) and great casts @BasetradeTv <3
|
3rd invited player + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/mqqILOH.png) Major has impressed us almost every time we see him, and especially during back to back season 1st place finishes in Copa America
**IMPORTANT UPDATE** One of the two following things are going to happen with our qualifiers:
- Option 1 - If European sign ups don't meet the expected amount of at least 32 players by October 12th Sunday, the second European Qualifier will be given to NA players instead (moved to October 18th) Effectively giving all 4 extra spots to NA players.
- Option 2 - If European sign ups do meet the expected amount of at least 32 players by October 12th Sunday, the North American qualifier will be split into 2 parts (Top 2 finish to qualify in each qualifier, instead of top 4) with the second one taking place October 18th.
Reasoning? + Show Spoiler + Well I could answer with, "because reasons" since it's our tournament but to explain the thought process - BaseTradeTV has a pretty strict schedule we have to stick to for this tournament, there's already going to be clashes with other events, and double days casting to squeeze in everything before November (avoiding MSI/Blizzcon). This being said, the same level of stress applying to a schedule also effects several NA players who want to compete but cannot due to real life restrictions and being unable to play the qualifier on the 14th.
That explains why were looking to shift focus more for NA, but further more, in the past when casting GO4SC2's, ZOTAC's and even IEM Qualifiers, there's always significantly more players competing in the European brackets, which is why we allowed for more slots in the European region. The sign ups for this qualifier do not reflect this
Edit: to any players waiting to see if they will be invited - we already have all our invites sorted and selected. If you were not contacted, you are not invited and must qualify to play, thank you.
|
Hey, major is actually playing in a thing! Nice to see him back

Today's a double reveal to relieve certain fans! + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/J9UXTPy.png) 4th invite is of course mYi Kane, he recently FLOORED Kas with a 4-0 in a showmatch, is a really chill dude, and an excellent zerg player, he'll also be playing for NA since he's travelling home soon 5th invite is SHOWTIME - Constantly recommended by other fans and players that I invite him to something. Underestimated, under appreciated, we'll see if he's the underdog in this tournament or not!
|
+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/a0wwYfE.png) Continuing with the 2-a-days we have both CHECK and MC to reveal as our Korean invites *Please note that as of 10/10/2014 MC may have to forfeit, as he was having impossible-to-play conditions during TakeTV's against the odds tournament. According to OP, there is now 2 KR Groups, 2 EU Groups and 4 NA Groups Originally, you had 8 players from NA (4 qual, 4 inv), 16 from EU (8 qual, 8 inv) and 8 from KR (4 qual, 4 inv). If 1 EU qual is replaced by 1 NA group, it should then be 12 players from NA (8 qual, 4 inv), 12 from EU (4 qual, 8 inv) and nothing changed for KR. but that would mean 2 KR Group, 3 NA and 3 EU. was the invites players changed too? (now 8 for NA and only 4 for EU?)

Since the OP image only has 12 silhouettes for the invites, I'm assuming that the last 4 "after" invites are being moved from EU to NA as well to accommodate the qualifier region changes. I'm even guessing that the last 4 "after" invites can be pros that don't win through the qualifiers and can play on NA servers without horrible lag...?

you don't keep throwing money into prize pools and investing time into getting korean players to play at all just so that one time, a non-korean comes out on top

Tomorrow is going to be sick. I can watch the KR qualifier and the Leifeng cup. Multitwitch FTW.

Is there a list of people participating in the KR qualifier right now?
|
|
|
You're not listed on TL.
Edit, you're now. :D
GOGO LIFE!
|
Cool little tournament. The KR qualifier looks more stacked than the main tournament, but I guess that isn't unusual.
Go Rain!
|
I hope fantasy has a good run. Looking forward to seeing more of him now he's left SKT
|
Slayers_Ryung and TSL_Symbol! <3 Bracket looks nice for True on the bottom side, top side is really close, but i think whoever wins in Rain-Hydra will make it.
|
And that's how you shut down a 2-rax. :D

Losira playing greedier than any other zerg and yet exactly like I would expect Losira to play. Hard to excuse DRG for dying to something as simple as being outdroned the whole game, two times in a row. It's not like you can't see their saturation \= Bad engagements, too. Losira just wanted to chill and run straight macro and DRG didn't respond with anything special. Poop.

GUMIHO HYPE!
He won a long mech game vs Life on Deadwing a month or so ago, will be interesting to see if he chooses that style again. If so, it's 4 base mass SCV (like 80) into cattlebruisers!
edit: Seems like it's not that style, he used double armory that time. maybe just going for standard ~150 supply push?

Gumiho's mech is interesting :D "We are bored, Gumiho, we kill a thor every 3 minutes unless something starts!" :D :D I don't deal with terrorists having demands! Boys, kill the thor! OH, NO! OK, OK, I will start the action!... hell, sir, zerg is coming! :D :D
|
Life got an amazing engagement there, still not enough. That first attack really was an all-in, 0/0 roach-hydra vs 2/1 mech isn't really doable.
|
The initial Hellion attack did to much dmg. =/

Anyone know why gumiho is meching so much vs zerg recently? Please don't tell me wrist issues.

Why do tournament organizers insist on linking brackets from sites other than liquipedia? This is an honest question as I don't see the benefit and I feel like Liquipedia is superior to other options

Just seems dumb im sure if someone from basetrade saw your post they would go ahead and add the link to the liqui page? as for the brackets, liquipedia isn't a tournament bracket site, you don't really arrange a tournament on liquipedia, rather liquipedia mirrors the official brackets of other sites, whether it's binarybeast or ESL official or anything else. it's like asking why a site would use sources instead of just linking wikipedia; they don't have absolute control over the information on sites where they aren't admins of anything

Unless you need some kind of automated win/loss reporting system, check in system, or something that generally doesn't need someone on hand immediately to make changes and which is immune to being changed by random people for the lulz.
But yeah.

It's actually bad to have a bracket on Liquipedia only, because then it has no source to rely on. If anybody enters a result, we're just trusting them that it's true. That would be like if a fact was added on Wikipedia only, and that there would be no source elsewhere.

Liquipedia is awesome, and even casters and staff at official events will refer to it (possibly out of habit) but yeah, official brackets are and should be the final word. Plus, it can be a question of interest - if people aren't interested in updating liquipedia brackets (because of massive hype overdose coma, of course, never lack of interest in an event) they're just not going to be accurate.
|
I came to ask about Liquipedia :/ There should be an official link and Liquipedia link because official links are often messy and there are times when you have them on other language than english (mostly korean, but I saw german, chinese and french too).

This sucks and I hate to kill the hype, but I'd much rather players be able to play the best games, instead of finding a computer 2 hours after landing in China/Korea ;(
Edit: Dates TBA something in November

Edit: Dates TBA something in November Best possible decision IMO

Yeah it's a pity but too many tournaments sabotage potential viewership by sticking rigidly to pre-arranged schedules and this seems like an eminently sensible move.
Will definitely be tuning in for the Ro8 onwards that's for sure, not every day you get to see the glories of Gumiho

Just an update: The final two days with the Ro8 and onwards will take place on November 22 / 23rd. Schedule will be announced after our return from blizzcon once I can work it out with the players !

that's unfortunate. nice of you to cater to the players - technically anyone can put anything on liquipedia and it's not exactly your fault, so you didn't have to. but good of you guys anyway
