Do you think 2011 mvp had a more impressive run with 8 tournament wins including an almost flawless gsl or soo's 4 gsl finals in a row and a likely flawless dreamhack? If soO wins this gsl then soO 's run is more impressive. This is the year 2014 and the game has been figured out a lot more than the year 2011 I never understood that argument that it's more impressive because the game is more figured out, is figuring things out and innovating not impressive at all or something?

Oh yeah, at its core it was an article about how 4 players past their peak in BW would dominate SC2.

If soO had won instead of came second he would be the bonjwa that bonjd I think

Its pretty obvious that former bw players will be good at sc2 let alone good bw players. But i am tired of this kespa vs non kespa war, this is pointless after 2 years. Almost everyone atm in the scene was a bw player in the past so whats the freaking point of this argument

This has to be soO vs Solar grand finals right :o

Yeah, actually you could defend the opposite conclusion that dominating when the game is still mostly terra incognita is more impressive because it shows how ahead of your time you were.

I don't think the meta should even be relevant. The greats from previous "eras" should be compared to their peers.

Probably soO. I think 2012 Mvp's run was more impactful though, (not because of results) but because of what he was fighting.

This. There are still things being discovered every tournament, the game is still getting figured out. I'd say the general skill level is higher nowadays though, making soO's run definitely one of the most impressive feats ever (also, don't forget GSL happened more frequently when Mvp was at this peak. With up to 8 GSL titles a year, maybe soO would have already won 3).

Personally I think mvp was a bit like batman, he fought against injustice and succeeded. Compared to soo who lost 3 times in a row to protoss.
Not the role model I will be showing to my kids for sure.
