It's damn impressive for sure. I just wish people would just discount you know, other tournaments when they refer to soO's consistency.

Zest has won a GSL, won a stacked tournament in the Kespa Cup, been fielded much more in a Championship winning Proleague side...

He won the GSL global championship too.

Ah thanks for the addition. That was in my period of #deadpassion

To me Zest's achievements are equally impressive if not more than soO's. I have the feeling he's not getting the same recognition tho because he plays Protoss

...Or maybe it's just me that thinks he is that great but in reality he is not #fangirl

Most right-thinking people have to concede Zest's quality, not just his Argentinean fan girls

I still prefer Rain and think he had a bad day at the office in the Ro8 but definitely respect Zest's chops at the game

soO's 4 consecutive GSL finals are an amazing feat no doubt, but the reason he may not be as hyped as Zest is not because people seem to ignore his achievements, it's because he hasn't been performing that well outside of GSL. He has lost to San and later on to Zest in the semis of Global tourney, he lost 3:1 to Super in the Ro16 of KSC and his SPL season was pretty meh, I mean 13-11 with 54% win record. Unlike Zest who has had an amazing year in any type of competition he has participated in.

Looking at todays result and soO's 4:3 victory, you cannot possibly say that he is better player than Zest, looking at their GSL finals match likewise. IMO 2 of the best and most consistent players in the world ATM and have been during the entire year.
S4 Arrows, never forget. RIP Woongjin Stars.

Zest's Proleague season was completely mediocre, only thing why people are thrilled about it is SKT T1 all-kill in R1 playoffs finals.
Not taking anything from Zest, but meh.

But without doubt, Zest is best Protoss in whole HotS, soO might secure best Zerg if he wins GSL/Blizzcon/both. Dreamhack won't work though :D
And arguably, best Terran of all HotS is going be in the final as well, considering amount of TvT information he got from Battlegrounds.

What's the relationship between CatZ and soO?

Apparently CatZ frequently talks to him/coaches him on builds and gives him strats to try, and soO uses them in GSL! It's kind of cool.

Too bad CatZ doesn't know if he's actually playing with soO or Soulkey

Lost in all the SoO = Yellow talk is how amazing it is that SoO beat Zest. Zest, the best Protoss in the world right now.

Zest, who annhilated Rain, and was known as the Kingslayer for his ability to beat champion class players.

Zest, who had been the bane to SKT players for an entire year now, all-killing them in Proleague, eliminating SKT people left and right.

And SoO did it with high risk, high variance strategies that allowed David to beat Goliath.

Ah, I'm going to savor this one.

lol If soO wins this finals, he could fall out of the first round of blizzcon and still be the best zerg. In my opinion he is the best of this year, if not the best player.

Can someone please sum up the last game for me? Couldn't watch (work...) and Im not a subscriber so I can't watch VODs =(

Soo opened hatch first, pool, third. Zest opened 1 gateway into nexus. They both macroed. Zest went sentry into 3rd & blink.

Zest tried a bit of a half assed attack before his 3rd was saturated with a few sentries on a ledge above the mineral line and did virtually no damage. Soo countered his brand new third and Zest recalled back to his third.

Soo's 4th finished before Zest's 3rd got saturated. Zest's 3rd was wide open and difficult to defend without immortals or colossi so Soo was able to get good harass and kill gateways and pylons.

Soo teched into muta but kept a lot of roach ling and both players went back and forth on the map attacking each other and falling back and Soo eventually had more units.

IMO Zest lost because of his build and half assed attack. Maybe if he would have done the full on 2 base blink attack to take out the 3rd like he did in game 4 he could have won again. Or if he would have defended with immortals or colossi instead of blink.
