yes white first and ~54-46 winratio for white theoretically. But it is balanced because they play bo12 (both play 6x white and black).

I think I remember the commentators during the World Chess Championship saying that bo12 was too variable.

statistically speaking i think any series length that doesn't last for days is probably too variable in any sport

If we truly wanted to know who was the best SC2 player, we'd have the top 10ish prepare for about six months, and then play Bo75 or something against each other. Luck, happenstance and daily form will always be huge factors when the fate of a player is decided in 2-4 games.

And bo75 should be separated to several days incase players have bad day
yea i think people forget sometimes that sports standings and playoffs are never meant to be "fair," its just entertainment/contest of endurance really with skill just giving you a generally higher chance of succeeding

And to adapt their builds.
That's what happens in chess matches, between rounds players try to find holes in the openings of their opponents. Becomes more and more difficult, because everybody is using chess engines that are stronger than the human WC.

The best formula would be a best of 30ish with each day 10 games being played. Would be in fact quite similar to old chess world championships matches like Karpov - Kasparov.

Yeah. Most sports' formats aren't in any way optimal to get a fair test of skill. They have an excessively long season to allow the home crowds to see their team play followed by a short playoff to crown a winner.

You have no idea.
The longest Karpov-Kasparov lasted over 5 months, from 10th September 1984 to 15th February 1985.
It was abandoned after 48 games, Karpov's health had deteriorated too much.

Like the Onion headline for the world cup where they said the pronunciation book for the Dutch team was 2000 pages long.

I actually had an idea being a fair amateur chess player, but I don't think such long matches would even be entertaining. So I preferred a best of 30 to something crazy like they did at the time. The analogue would probably be a BO500 and barely make any sense.
