I'd rather just have group selections. At least the players have some control over it, and makes some interesting callouts, and if there's a group of death it's at least some of their own making.

If that's actually the schedule, I'll do the best I can to head back. I got hooked after showing up for Observer Weekend.

I believe Rotti said that group of Terrans was September 10th... and judging by how they went last season (Tues/Wed) I think it's safe to assume those will be the dates for the Ro16

Agreed. A lot of interesting stuff was potentially lost here. But they would have to make all the players fly in early or they would not let the players have enough practice time.

Well, we have much better chances than last season with twice as many nonkoreans at this stage in the tournament. I think we have pretty good chances of getting at least one foreigner.

They are entertaining, but they don't really work for WCS America since everyone is all over the world.

Probably could of just Skyped or IM or something. The GSL has no excuse though, bring back the group selections. Why were they replaced with random draws anyways.

I guess it's because the players don't want to bother with that anymore
Maybe something to do with Kespa having the vast majority of players in Code S, compared to before?
I don't even remember the last time it was done...

The GSL cancelled group selections because Mr. Chae thought that letting PartinG cause all the fan favourites to commit mutual suicide was a bad idea. I agree with you that from a viewer perspective tey are overwhelmingly superior. As to WCS America, I just don't think its feasible. With all the different time zones and the difficulty in arranging so many connections without technological problems. I honestly don't think the banter and the fun would be there through Skype. You really need everyone in one room, which WCS America cannot do.

But that doesn't make sense really, group selections existed since BW and has been a staple.

That's kind of a ridiculous reason for no group selections in the GSL if true lol

I don't know how he does it but huk always has amazing group luck drawing the easiest group again. The guy is blessed somehow. His nickname of Luk is well deserved.
