Gfinity are proud to present the G3 live event taking place in London, UK this August 2nd/3rd
Formed by gamers and with the backing of successful investors, Gfinity was created to help push eSports within the UK to a professional level, to raise awareness and to provide an arena for gamers to showcase their talent.
Gfinity was launched as a company in early 2013 and plans were immediately set in motion to deliver events and user experiences unlike any that had been seen in European eSports before it. So far we've hosted 2 successful major events for League of Legends and Call of Duty, we've since replaced League with DOTA2 and added Starcraft 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Fifa.
In total the G3 event will have a minimum prizepool of $160,000 spread over all the games with Starcraft getting $30,000, that also includes the 3375 WCS points the event has been given.
The Starcraft tournament will boast 12 of Europe and the worlds best player's fighting it out over who gets the title of G3 winner. There will be 9 invites given out and 3 open qualifiers held on EU battle.net.
Prizepool
1st Place - $16,000 2nd Place - $8,000 3rd/4th Place - $3,000

So are the last three invited players a surprise or am I missing something? Says there will be 9 invites.

Yes they're soon to be announced, still waiting on 1/2 to confirm as well another caster and host =)

A bit harsh... but I will say that the site is very cluttered and difficult to navigate :/

Lack of Terran, please include INnoVation.

Jesus.. so bored seeing always the same players invited. I am really curious how the European scene even survives like that currently. The silliest thing is that you receive so many WCS points... it's simply distortion of competition if you give some players the chance to earn WCS while others not.

too much money, too many wcs points and too many invite for way too few players in total =/ at least it is offline... but it really help some players too much in the wcs ranking that's its becoming really unfair

really excite to see how this pans out
i understand why people want to see other players than the "typical" invites, but these guys are invited because they're some of the best the scene has to offer (both from Koreans and foreigners). i'd rather see top level ability being rewarded for their play, rather than getting some lesser players just for the sake of them being there.
and innovation pls, as said above =x

invitational?? 1 terran? nah not going to watch

Some events should not have WCS points. This is one of them. 3375 points and 9/12 invited players...so bad from Blizzard.

of the 9 invited players, 8 are 100% sure to receive 250 WCS point

3 invited players (2 terrans) aren't announced yet....
Innovation is attending another event so we couldn't get him, we did try though :p

WCS points for an invitational are pretty damn stupid. We're going to end up having a lot of popular guys with free WCS points from invitationals while the WCS Korea players can get about 1/2 spots for themselves, so we can crown a world champion and act like he is the best player of last year while in fact, he's probably nothing like that and just a skilled player with a ton of free WCS points?

Generally WCS Points for tournaments outside WCS is stupid, doesnt matter if HSC or MLG or DH or Shoutcraft or whatever else. WCS should do 3 weekend-tournaments (one on each region), which everyone can attend, I am sure DH/ESL/GSL or Proleague staff likes to do this for WCS/Blizzard.
I highly doubt that this tournament here is getting lesser recognition without wcs points.

Coming through qualifiers fill the requirement. At least that's how it's put in the 2014 GSL Global Championship page.
Edit: Speaking of WCS Global Event rules, they require 16 players minimum from which 25% has to be from qualifiers. If I understood correctly, in this tournament there are only 12 players, but at least the 25% requirement is fulfilled. However, the 16+ player requirement might have the qualifiers included, in which case there surely will be more.

ok my 100% was a bit wrong since it depends on how the groups are done. but still...
