That's perfectly fine and I often do the same thing. I just don't get the "wrong player part". I've never felt that the wrong player won when SoS beat JD at Blizzcon, even though I was greatly disappointed, and I never blamed his fans for being happy. I congratulated him and moved on.


Every player is the wrong player when winning against Life. Is that unfair and rude to the player and his/her fans? Probably. Do I care? Life lost so no, screw everything

That an invitational denies other players (American and otherwise) the chance to make a name for themselves.

It means they can invite the "Americans and otherwise." Basically invite the people that will get the most views at MLG. They can still have qualifiers to fill spots if they want. MLG is just catching a lot of crap so I think they should just simplify it. If they didn't screw up production so much with weird schedules and being unprepared, we wouldn't have so much to laugh at them for.

Just keep it simple.


It doesn't matter who you invite, it still takes away the possibility for uninvited players to actually play in the tournament and make it far. One can debate if MLG should have an open bracket at every tournament, but it's a valid criticism and several MLGs have been won by Open Bracket players in the past. You shouldn't adopt an arguably worse format to make sure you'll be able to slack off with production.
