Hellion are really good to focus (drones or ling banelings) and exploit micro (and that's why so many times in TvZ even post patch we see pros keeping their hellions as hellions during their 1/1 move out) but if you have more than 8 of them you do overkill.
Plus hellbat have a really good dps against slowroaches.
I really think it's a mistake, but knowing Innovation there must be a specific reason, maybe he didn't want to lose the 2 seconds of morphing time
