In a Best of 1, Best of 3 and Best of 5 a map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player(seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

are you really using a double elimination bracket in stage 1 to determine 8 players for stage 2?
|
correct, else there would be like 1 round of games :D

Hopefully some cool AM players can qualify!

pHaRSiDE HI:
The people that created this tournament on the web put wrong the fallowing info: 1st)http://www.nationalesl.com/us/sc2/masters/season9/shenzhen_qualifier1/rankings
Errors: StarCraft II Extreme Masters Season 9 Shenzhen Qualifier 1 (Fri. 06/10), that day is TUESDAY The time stamp tells 23:00 when it will held or played. Now taking the minutes of the countdown, the tournament supposed to start on TUESDAY 18:00 EST
2nd)http://www.nationalesl.com/us/sc2/masters/season9/shenzhen_qualifier2/rankings
Errors: StarCraft II Extreme Masters Season 9 Shenzhen Qualifier 2 (Day. 06/11), that day is THURSDAY. The time stamp tells 23:00when it will held or played. Now taking the minutes of the countdown, the tournament supposed to start on THURSDAY 18:00 EST.
This created confusion on my players to register (saying that was on friday or tuesday or not....)
Can you please correct that info, thanks

The information in this thread is correct. I don't know who added it to the calendar.

desRow played well against Swarmhosts, and was very tenacious that game. Suppy's hybrid swarmhost composition was something I hadn't really seen before though. Seemed kinda weird.

Greetings, This is to let you know that scarlett has dropped from the tournament fairly surprsingly. Because of this Suppy was next invite in line and he moves up to Seed 8 to replace her. A new 16th player will be brought in from Stage 1 and seeds 9-16 will be randomized again. Sorry for this inconveniance.
|
Hope everything is ok.with scarlett,gl suppy
|
France7248 Posts
aww, any reason given? :<
edit: also, how will the 16th player be chosen?
|
Maybe didn't have the setup needed to play? You don't see her drop from hardly any tournys.
|
I believe scarlett is in europe right now so the tournament starts at midnight her time. So just unplayable.
Right now SwS and Days are playing a single best of 3 to be the replacement. Jonsnow and intense did not respond to the notice. Will have a replacement in about 15-30 minutes most likely.
|
I think she is in Europe right now. When the qualifier starts it will be midnight in Germany. Europe qualifier lasted for 10 hours (delayed by Nation Wars, important to mention but still), so imagine if she falls early in the loser bracket... That's my interpretation.
Edit: forestalled by pHaRSiDE
|
Ok so nothing like illness or anything just didn't want to overdue herself that makes sense. Thanks for the info

France7248 Posts
what was the score of Days vs sWs please?
|
|
|
I hope people aren't too upset that Scarlett withdrew from the qualifiers at the last second. She probably waited this long because she wanted to see at the last second if it would be possible for her to play (she did the same with Red Bull qualifiers, which she did end up playing). But she's soon going to have Dreamhack, Red Bull, and MLG in the span of just TEN DAYS, so it was very wise of her to skip these qualifiers and potentially doing damage to her health.
|
Not upset at all I was worried she might be sick she said she wasn't feeling well for the RB. If she thinks playing this qualifier would hurt her health then she made the right decision.
|
Yeah, Probably got something to do with the fact Scarlett playing her first Dreamhack this weekend then the MLG next weekend. Probably too many tournaments this month. Busy month already for Scarlett.
|

wait HuK is going to win this game? I tabbed away when he lost his 4th, all his colossi, and all his HTs when caught out of position by qxc's army. Figured he lost since he didnt have much of a bank and was down like 30 supply. come back and he's maxed out up 50 supply O.o
|
qxc spent around 5 minutes with only 2 or 3 medivacs, yet HuK let him get back into it, but it doesn't matter in the end.

Say what you like about the NA scene, no, they might not show the best technical games and they might not be able to challenge top Koreans, but damn, they can deliver some serious entertainment.
Huk vs qxc game 3 deserves attention for being nail biting, riveting, hour long PvT, I hope people will watch that game. Just a great reminder of why SC2 is fantastic to watch as a sport.

I suppose, I was thinking about the disparity between NA and say Korea because I had just read TB's Shoutcraft post mortem, so that was fresh on the mind. It truly is a wide gap between the two, and I really hope that something can be done to kind of bridge that or at least make it look closer like EU.

People never really think about the food options that are a bit between TGI Fridays and fast food, like Habit Burger. ToD would be alright with that.
|
On June 12 2014 13:35 stuchiu wrote: Just got back, how was Illusion vs Violet?
I missed game one and the start of game 2, but Illusion was down and out, with something like 20 workers against 4 base zerg. He succeeds in sniping one of Violet's key upgrades, and then goes out for a final push, while mutas dived into his main and starting killing what was left of his economy. He attacked the zerg third on overgrowth while Violet didn't have baneling speed and split well, while the marauders seemed to be baneling magnets. At the natural Illusion's remaining marines cleaned up most of the mutas which sat over them for a while at the third Illusion beat down streams of lings and roaches with excellent control. Violet tried to go for a final hold with his few remaining mutas and whatever troops he could muster between the natural and the downed third, but illusion now on only 11 SCVs kills Violet's forces with his remaining marines, and Violet taps out.
In game 3 after a fairly standard opening illusion pushes in really really deep on creep with marines marauder hellbat medivac, as Violet tries to get mutas, and denies the fourth. With prolonged reinforcements from illusion, and additionally fairly bad baneling connections on hellbats and marauders mainly due to illusion's great pulling back with his marines, illusion destroys Violet's forces and wins the series.
Game 2 is the game that really should be watched while game 3 was just fairly straightforward solid play and excellent control from illusion.

Yup, definitely throwing this series on purpose. Maybe he feels like he has no chance to beat Masa so he's choosing builds that will end quickly and / or he thinks Masa has a better chance in China.
