Not sure, but I think DeMusliM didn't make any turrets in game 1 or 2, so I wouldn't be surprised if Welmu decided to go dt's as a reaction to that.

his reaper died without scouting the main base, then you could argue he must go turrets to be safe against the possibility or assume its not coming because he didnt scout it.
theoretically you do not only need a turret in your natural - you also need a turret in your main base if its warp prism dt. investing 200 minerals plus scv mining time to block a possibility of a build is a very heavy investment that frankly just puts you behind if its not dt rush.
