first LR I ever created was ASUS ROG Northcon which started at 5 AM, had serious technical issues until 8 AM, lasted 11 hours after that with 4 groups of all Bo5 played in one day. Was a good time.

If you have the time just jump in there. Lorning generally does most of the Proleague ones and SinCitta has ATC on lock, but anything else is generally fair game

what Darkhorse said plus if you have a simpler tournament you want to cover that is coming up and you know that someone else usually host that tournament then send that guy a PM and ask him if you could host the event instead and that you would to contribute to the community.
EDIT: If you want to contribute and you spend time on it so people see that you put effort into it no one will go "you stupid shit, why did you do that?" just do it.
