For one thing he was a Scottish comedian with his "laddie" (not to mention the other stereotypical mannerisms). He was a comedic character in the movies. Someone you laughed at. Gimli is not an object of humour in the books. Nor should he be.
Anyway, it really is bed time, now.

Only the first one was bearable. What the actual fuck?! The Lord of the Ring's movies where absolutely fantastic, I've seen each of them like 10 times + and then when they came out extended edition I watched them another 5 times. The acting, the special effects, the fidelity to the books (disregarding some of the love scenes), the humor, the battles, the music, the general pace of it was just fantastic. Anyway, WTF PartinG, when that initial attack hit his 3rd base I thought he was dead for sure, I can't believe he held on. If something beats Duel of the Fates, it might be The Battle of the Pelennor Fields Personally I loved the battle of the Black Gates more, the sense of desperation and urgency in the fight, the felling that evil might just prevail, and then that beautiful moment the ring was finally destroyed and everything came crashing down. That still brings a tear to my eye each time I think of it. Oh I was talking about the music But one thing I loved about the extended editions was the scene with the Mouth of Sauron. Why they didn't include that in the originals is beyond me, that was one creepy/evil character.
Well in regards to the music, I think The Battle of the Black Gates and The Return of the King do the best job of opening up my tear ducts. It feels like the ultimate happy ending the ultimate triumph of good over evil.

So true. Prime for the victory.

Indeed! Almost 1am. It's also been an intense work week (if a short one). It's time for some zzz and a sleep in.

I thought Legolas was the comedian - the stair slide, the fred-flinstone-esque trunk slide

The actor of Gimli was fine, PJ's portrayal of Gimli was horrible

I still think that small Anakin is much more horrible than Sam & Frodo in all 3 movies. So IMO SW ep -2 < LotR 1-3 < SW ep -1 < ep 0 < ep3 < ep1 < ep2
At least they hit the gayness of elves with the shieldboarding shooting elf-whatever-was-his-name-i-cannot-remember-right now :D Also I think that this shieldboarding elf is too short for an elf.
Kill me
On topic - go Parting, go Parting, go Parting(Terran "the future winner" Maru is playing on a different day, I think)

GG - fun game. Sick unit design.

I feel like PartinG's opening was slightly better than MMA's.

Anyone watching this group? Because maybe we should all agree to do a Lotr marathon, start exactly at the same time and do a LR about it

am I the only one who still remembers when the oracles was "the first harassing units that doesn't kill workers but harasses in cool, different, new ways"?

I thought Legolas was the comedian - the stair slide, the fred-flinstone-esque trunk slide Merry and Pippin were essentially comic relief too. They needed a lot of it because Sam and Frodo were just a pain to watch.
