It is. You can die to zerg timings both as a mech and bio player (see Vortix vs. MMA) but once mech gets going later and later into the game, terran can get those super cost effective raven-viking-bc armies which is very hard for zerg to deal with.
Vortix won his games based on excelent mind games, like researching roach speed when going for 2 base muta at the same time which is something that is very hard to scout as terran. After the muta attack he was already very ahead.
That is basically what happened in all his TvZs today. But when there is no early damage dealt to terran, mech is better than bio right now in TvZ.
