I think that was one of those moments where he woke up in the morning all enthusiastic. "Today I'm gonna make history. Tempests to siege the opponent and snipe his medivacs. Carriers to win the combat. It's gonna be legen..."

can only assume he thought Cure would mech and tried to blind counter... but he knew Cure was going bio and started carriers o_o had he gone storm after tempests his chances of winning would at least be above zero, but carriers is basically a free win for Cure

Still doesn't explain it. It is not like you can hide going mech as terran.
My best guess is this actually worked against someone in training but it actually sucks. Same as when Bomber went mech against Rain (I think it was rain in first WCS season).

Most of the time they just aren't worth it. If you are not just turtling and rushing carriers, then Zerg have the chance to get Vipers + Ton of Corruptors and snipe your Carriers one by one before you can do anything.
Of course, mass Tempests + mass Carriers + HTs + Archons can be deadly, but so can mass Swarm Hosts + thousand Spines and Spores + Vipers + Corruptors.
Maybe I am mistaken but it seems that he doesn't have a proper wall. 1 zealot on hold position is not enough, the wall looks like he should have 2 of them. He definitely messed something up with his wall.

Wow. That was an amazing game. The dance of Vipers + Mutas vs Archons + Templar + Stalkers. Very happy that we got such an exciting game despite Rain's early missteps.

No. He was dead the moment Rouge built the mutalisks. He could have probalby just magicboxed the Protoss army right away when it was only 3Archons as his whole antiair midmap. Just played it safe.
Hmm don't you think Rain should have continued when he was at the natural's door ? He had so many immortals he would have destroyed main + natural before losing his army, and many mutas would have died as they were poping in front of Rain.

No. He was dead the moment Rouge built the mutalisks. He could have probalby just magicboxed the Protoss army right away when it was only 3Archons as his whole antiair midmap. Just played it safe.
Rogue also continuously upgraded air attacks, even without building any units. The mutas had +3 when they spawned.

He tried to get up a fourth several times but it was constantly denied by lings. In the end his attack was more or less all-in.
