It's safe to say that MMA is waaaay better now than he was in his prime. So no. He was a tad more dominant than taeja, but Taeja had some veeery dominant streaks as well. He also wasn't a big name in the scene when terran was pretty overpowered, while MMA and MVP rode the Terran train pretty hard.

This is so untrue its not even funny. Taeja this summer and last summer looked basically on another level than anyone else. He would just beat players without breaking a sweat. Look at his run through IPL TAC 3 in the first summer of taeja. Or Dreamhack winter this year. Hell look at his run in the last WoL GSL where he was the last terran despite the MASSIVE balance favoring zerg then.

In time yes...

But MMA won a GSL & Blizzcup, that immediately puts him above any other player

You cant be serious, Taeja would be more successful than MMA, and I love MMA.

Easily more accomplished? Idk, Taeja has not won a GSL/Blizzcup/WCS Kor yet. He won more tournaments than MMA and even though they are premiers, they are no GSL´s. Nerchio has won a lot more tournaments than Taeja as well (mostly Zotacs) and I guess we can all agree on Taeja being more accomplished than Nerchio. Add to that, that MMA has won MLG/Iron Squid/IEM/WCS as well and is ahead on the money rankings, I don´t really see Taeja ahead anymore.

compared to even a foreigner dense asus rog, gsl in 2011 just doesn't compare to how good players (specially koreans) are atm. i'd say that taeja's run through dreamhack winter was way harder than any tournament MMA has ever won.

People dumb down Taeja's accomplishments because he won them in other countries, but the reality is, he was smashing everyone, two years in a row - it just happened to not physically be in Korea when he was doing it.

Also not everyone is not able to travel to every tournament. Soulkey is a prime example for this.

He still beat world class players at said tournaments.

I mean, youre going to have someone winning this GSL with wins over the likes of Dark, True, Myungsik, Panic, Pet.

I'm not saying the foreign tournaments don't have their share of squash matches, but people pretend the GSL doesn't either.

It is. Standard of play always goes up.

You can't play everyone while in Korea though also. Plus he was still VERY successful his last year in Korea (by far the most consistent terran in the last year of WoL)

The Tournaments Taeja won since 2012 were some of the hardest in the world. Dreamhack Winter he beat: Innovation, sOs, ForGG, Patience, MMA, Life and Life again.

MMA in his Code S run beat: Keen, Nada, lost to Nestea, asd, Clide, Happy and MVP.

I wouldn't say his Code S run is worth more than Taejas run.

You can not simply compare tournaments in two different eras by listing the names in them. Fact is in 2011 GSL 2011 was the hardest tournament in thw wolrd and in 2013 the 2013 GSL was harder than DH Winter. If you look at who was´nt at DH, there is RorO, Soulkey, PartinG, Rain, Jjakji, Dear, Bomber, ..... When MMA won the GSL, the entire world calss was there and he emerged victorious.

Another example: Naniwa made top 8 in DH Winter 2013 and top 8 in GSL 2012. What do you think, he is more proud of?

The game is more difficult now than it was in 2011, and I think its safe to say Dreamhack Winter was one of the most stacked tournaments of 2013.

Also, I think if there were 9 GSL's in 2013, Taeja would definitely win at least one of them.

This is true and I think the argument Tajea has over MMA is consistency not quality of wins. Dreamhack winter was amazing and probably the hardest non WCS event that year but Code S is still code S. Taeja however has dominated two separate time spans which is something no other player has done. Plus the amount of premier tournament wins is pretty insane. This past spree by Taeja is surpassed by only MVP IIRC. Combine that with him actually being very succesful in Korea. (2 ro4s including last terran in WoL, barely was knocked out his last season in ro16 two more ro8s) he was incredibly consistent once he switched to Liquid and made a name for himself.

TaeJa won't win a GSL because he's more of a weekend player than he's a preparation one. Most of the tournaments he wins have only been a couple of days long. I think he said in his Grilled interview with Thoorin that he struggles when he has to prepare for an opponent and as a result loses.

After being on liquid these are his GSL results ro8 ro8 ro4 ro32 ro4 (last terran ever) ro16 (last season). He was stupidly consistent aside from one bad day.

TaeJa won't win a GSL because he's more of a weekend player than he's a preparation one. Most if the tournaments he's win have only been a couple of days long. I think he said in his Grilled interview with Thoorin that he struggles when he has to prepare for an opponent and as a result loses.

He's had 2 ro4 runs in GSL's, its not as though he's gate-keeping the Ro16

Yeah and notice how he got smashed in both of those RO4's
soOjwa has returned to smite all that stand in his way
