Late in WoL, esp 2012 there was a shift towards occassional (perhaps even frequent) mass hellion attacks. As a response, zergs started getting ~5 early roaches to simply shut that down and prevent drone/ling/larva losses early at fairly low cost. Since HotS they pretty much stopped doing that... Now there's been a shift back to mech play, and generally this means a large number of hellions early on. But the vast majority of zergs are still trying to hold on with just lings and queens, and being punished for it (like in this game). Wouldn't it make sense to just get the early roach warren for 125 minerals if you need it, and pop a few roaches to counteract the hellions? Otherwise so much larva and minerals goes into lings anyway. Seems kinda silly to me. It was pretty much the sole reason hydra lost this game; got behind early and snowballed. | ||
