He killed a ton of reinforcments with a small pack of lings in mid map during the attack, that helped a lot. But the attack came so slow I don't think it was going to work anyway.

Getting the infestation pit only isn't so bad. Getting the pit + glands + 3 infestors is much worst. Soulkey didn't make the same mistake this time.
Wowwww.. Sleep played that pretty well aside from that one bad engagement. Sleep surprised me last round, surprised me again this round beating Soulkey.

You really need to establish your hydras before making those infestors, or it seems there is a large window for your opponent if he's aiming for any sort of timing.

The crowd is pretty good, I don't think there are many online viewers tonight because of the weird day thing and because ther was no GSL for a week. I wouldn't be here if I didn't see it on the upcoming calender on TL, I expected it to start Wednesday.
not sure why he went infestors, especially on a map so open like that. if it was a map where he can force engagements in tighter spots it would been fine but fungals against spread units is laughable. he didn't even try to fungal before sleep spread out o_o;
With infestors only doing 30 damage per fungal and not doing extra to roaches now, it just seems that infestors don't really work well against roaches any more (5 fungals to kill one roach). No idea why SK teched fast infestors.

I don't think that was as bad an engagement as Artosis made it out to be. Sleep was saturated on three bases well before Soulkey, and he wanted to extend that advantage by forcing Soulkey to defend while he teched to hydras. The supply count differential remained the same at the end of the fight, so Sleep didn't really sacrifice anything. Sleep did play pretty well
I think sleep gets underrated for his play in the Ro32
sure his creep spread and injects weren't as good as they coulda been, but he was good at other important things like vs. widow mine micro and just getting good engagements

Yeah, and he wanted to throw away some supply before getting hydras, it seemed a perfectly equal trade which was good for Sleep.

He did the most standard thing in the book. I don't know what's so clever about that. Step 1: scout and go for roach tech Step 2: build up a roach count if no mutas Step 3: force combats with your roaches, because if your opponent has done anything that is not mass roaches you just win (g1) Step 4: repeat step 3 with roach/hydra (g3) Step 5: repeat step 3 with roach/hydra/infestor
Edit: well, it's actually clever to play standard.

I guess Sleep hit a big timing window there, but aren't the Infestors supposed to throw their fungals before the entire army engages to break up the concaves, catch odd units that can then be picked off and hinder advancement of the enemy army?

The way he played must have been geared for defence somehow, using Blink defensively until he could tech. Or do you think he was looking for an opening before he was that high up in supply?
Oh, I forgot, though. Dear totally took a super greedy third there when speedling potential was out on the map to keep that down - DRG just didn't scout it! I couldn't believe he missed that
I just think it's not a case of Dear being world class or anything mega special, it's just he has learnt how to play Protoss. I personally think KESPA protoss right now play the way you should play protoss. Dear is ESF! ^^
LOL, yeah now he is ;_; but he wasn't. He is still KESPA to me ;_;
I would of preferred Dear to attack instead of take the third then to be honest, forcing early Hydra is good due to his Phoenix pressure, they would of been pretty naked from colli lasers
DRG got to play his A game and Executed nearly perfectly
Nothing beats seeing that engagement develop with the lings and you realize ... the stalkers are dying to lings and phoenix to muta/corruptor and there's nothing Dear can do.
I agree with the tosis, I don't like how he engaged at his third. With Dear supply blocked, DongRaeGu is the only one getting a bigger army at that moment.
Maybe it was because he didn't have the rocks down, so he couldn't bring his units/drones back from his third to his natural.
i think drg wanted to avoid a adirect engagement at his third because honestly the terrain around there for 2 base all ins in pvz is just bullshit to deal with - every zerg knows about it by now. i could see drg holding by not countering, but probably not on this map - dear was going to exploit that third terrain
I think Dear advancing in a group full of zergs is not surprising. Sleep winning another zvz doesn't seem unlikely either. Getting more and more convinced that those two will advance.

Well, that has always been one of the most annoying things about the Elder Scrolls series... Anytime you don't go for a Fighter/Combat Mage character, the game becomes unplayable later on because being the greates thief/crafter/alchemist/archer in the game doesn't kill monsters that are made for fighting people who have 100 on heavy armor/swordmanship/destruction spell at level 10.

It was by far the most irritating and stupid thing in Oblivion...there's a reason Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul was popular.
Skyrim doesn't do it anywhere near as bad as Oblivion did. Oblivion was basically unplayable if you levelled up and went anything other than straight up warrior.

The Throw was stronger on the Sleep's side. ;D Still really awesome game for watching, reminds me on BW with both players being all over the map. Great play by Sleep from the start although he did throw way too many Brood Lords.
I don't actually understand the lack of mothership core. I don't even see how you can lose games as protoss if you can always commit to killing any base and still defend.

What's better is that some DRG fans immediately jumped on Mvp, MMA, MKP, Leenock etc saying they will never regain their code S level (i.e. class is forever only applies to DRG). Now DRG is out and we just saw MMA with top class TvT and TvP in DH.

Pretty easy group to predict. Looks like esf has stronger terrans but their protosses and zergs look weak, except for Super.
considering Dear advanced in first place and Sleep almost made it out and the other two players in this group were Kespa players, esF ain't doing too badly imo.
Didn't know DRG was kespa
well, now you know. team MVP joined Kespa a few weeks ago.
i just made that post to point out how ridiculous the whole esF vs Kespa thing is when nobody even knows who's what and what difference it really makes at this point.
in the past 3 months, who have been their practice partners (especilly applicable if in a team house) and coaches
unless soul signs new players they'd still effectively be a kespa trained, kespa coached team. same with esF in kespa.
same standard would have applied to ogs-tl house type of thing (eg jinro pretty much 100% just a korean-trained terran). or eg-tl in kespa pretty much not being kespa.
edit: if a professional sports team moved cities but had the same players, coaching staff, but shifted conferences/divisions to play different opponents, they're very obviously the same team.

this kespa vs esf thing becomes truly pointless if we're considering current affiliations. either original kespa players vs original esf players, or drop it altogether

He was teasing DRG's fans, nothing wrong with that.

Many have dropped it already, but the "anti 'kespa fanboys'" are still enjoying making fun of it.

he does it quite often, plus it's not cool to take down fans after their favourites lose anyway

which kinda proves it was all about bw elitism anyway and not the organisations themselves

That is not remotely confirmed.
wait it's not? whenever i see an sc2 rumor that doesn't sound completely ridiculous i automatically assume it's true because it almost always is...

it's the entire deal, the whole scene. people who followed broodwar unconditionally naturally have a strong attachment to former broodwar players and would root for them, especially against former broodwar players who didn't have much success in that scene. in my eyes, it's more favoritism than elitism.

If you're talking about WCS Korea Code S, when they're having matches it should be in their new Gangnam studio. You can Google for GomTV and Gangnam studio or see if it's listed somewhere on GomTV.net. You can also try tweeting @GomTV or @Khaldor or @Proxywolf (two of the GomTV English casters) and maybe they'll respond to any questions, too :p

Pretty much, the organisations were just a convenient label at the time. I can't believe opterown's still going on about elitists when their fandom is just as legitimate as his own.
Also enjoyed the result.

He needs to go for WCS EU soon (so is DRG, Leenock ... players that has lots of fans). The level of the region currently is way too low.

Favoritism = "I want these players to win because I'm really attached to them due to following them for so long!"
Elitism = "I want these players to win because they're superior players. They are more talented and/or practice harder."
Don't pretend that certain BW fans haven't been saying things very similar to the latter.
Fandoms are all equally "legitimate" (whatever that's supposed to mean). However, every fandom has its annoying minority that sullies that fandom's reputation, and for the BW community, that minority are BW elitists. It would have helped the claim that it's favoritism rather than elitism if it the SC2 community didn't have to watch the whole stupid "Wow Kespa is just too far ahead of everyone else now" discussion whenever Kespa players performed well against non-Kespa. Fortunately, that's died down a ton since Bomber and Maru's WCS wins.
