Pardon my ignorance. But who is Arthur?
EDIT: Who is this guy? He's destroying State at PvP.

i am curious how arthur makes it through the days without having a team for 2 months now and if he makes it to the ro16, will he be able to come to the US or will he forfeit and so another spot gets lost.

Christ gretorp. Go host a number show, one where you would really be informed. Not the constant "what is.. - no actually, ben, hehe, no ben, hehe its like 43.23, thats point 23 ben. Hehe, yeah. Oh wait no its, maybe you are right"
Better yet, just do some analysis, and quit the math. Or use math to help the analysis, not the other way around.

I normally dont comment on casters, but getorp is seriously killing this cast. :-/ Stop trying so hard to call out your co-caster. I feel bad for Mr.Bitter, you can tell he is getting really annoyed with it. Especially with the math.
Its cool to hear him say things like how long it takes to get 75 energy, but dont make your co-caster look like a dumbass. These two buttheads too much and i feel like getorp starts it 90% of the time, with my.bitter defending.
Stop talking shit about each other. SC2 your casting, cast it pleease.

He just went on a 5 minute spiel about how bad Mr. Bitter's ZvT is. I mean, it's more entertaining than watching SC2 openings, but I found it incredibly cringe-y because Mr. Bitter really wasn't into it.

State hell of an effort keep it up. probably the most impressive ROOT player I've seen recently.

Can't wait for those replays to be released, this is how I want to play PvZ. Great show from State.
What is the answer to that BL transition? Scout it and get a few Tempests out? Do more damage around the 16 - 17 minute mark?

State obviously the better player today, pity luck of the draw forces him out. GL to Hyun.

That was a really good last series, I went in thinking hyun would get out but i was impressed by state. Fun games ^_^
|
Lol, Hyun advances with negative 2-3 score from that day. Usually at least in such case one has beaten the other loser in the loser's match, but here even this was just forfeit so it doesn't count.
|
Enjoyable series, it was nice to see both Hyun and State mixing it up with play styles; and well played by both.

That's one way of wording what happened lol. Or you can say that State lost 2 bo3's and had a negative map score and HyuN only lost one, which is the case...If HyuN lost his two bo3's he would've been out. Why does map score matter? Amusingly you are pretty much saying that we should go by extended series format again..but oh wait, back when fan favorites lost in that format it was considered the worst thing to ever befall esports.
|
On state, he really lacked the killer instinct. Instead of either teching into an invincible army later (with air and colossi) or staying on 3 bases and going for a killing move with a very strong 200 supply, he did a bit of pressure and a bit of teching, but just ended up in some weird middle position where he lacked the courage to take a deciding engagement while he had the advantage.
|
lol so many angry foreigners in this thread taking map score but ignoring series win/loss. Probably first time seeing the result of a player dropping out of a 4-player group. Watched so many Starcraft all these years and still don't understand the rule and surprised by this. haha.
|
On September 03 2013 09:49 NoGasfOu wrote: lol so many angry foreigners in this thread taking map score but ignoring series win/loss.
I think the main issue for the "foreigners" in this case is that one of the series "wins" for Hyun was a W.O. where he did not actually have to do anything (actually just time for him to study State's reps) whereas State was required to play an actual human opponent in all of the three series he played back to back today.

it's impossible to advance from one of these groups when all 4 players are there without getting an at least 50:50 overall map score. with 3 players it's obviously different. I've always never liked these walk-overs in 3-man groups. would be ideal if they had a couple wildcard games or something of that ilk to fill in these spots.

Why don't they use reserves for those kind of situations? Like, BB. He was top4 in 3 qualies.

Blame the player that forfeited or the organization for not finding a solution. Don't blame the format (some people have) or the players who played for taking advantage of the WO.

I agree, they should have a 'points' system for the players that don't qualify but do get far. Then if replacements are needed, they can just pick the player at the top.

The obvious solution is: have backups. Which is what I suggested and it has to be done by the organization, not by the players. Yet I get labeled as a whiner because ... well, I don't even get it.

Only one person with 33 posts called you anything like that lol I agree with you that WOs suck but some people are going overboard calling out the format or the players. NASL need to have backup plans for players that forfeit well in advance.
|
The other obvious solution would be to move to a different format since using GSL-style groups obviously makes no sense with only three people. Hell, they didn't even rearrange the group so the highest seed (State) was the person with the advantage. Why there hasn't been a fix implemented, or at least explored, especially with 3 man groups being a somewhat common occurrence in WCS NA is beyond me.

Map scores are irrelevant compared to Match scores.
Who wins: Lakers 88 - 90 Heat Lakers 120 - 66 Heat Lakers 90 - 100 Heat
Heat win 2 games, but Lakers outscored them 42 points total. Doesn't matter, since we are looking at games not scores. Same thing here. We look at matches, not maps.

Seems to me that the structure of the Group E was very unfair to State. Is there a link where I can voice my concerns to Blizzard? Thx

Was anyone else having a hard time watching the casting between gretorp and mr bitters? Gretorp was acting like a nut job the whole cast, very passive aggressive and combative with mr bitters, followed by Mr Bitters trying to hide the fact that Gretorp was annoying the sht out of him with his observing mistakes and constant stupid questions. in addition to questioning all of mr bitters strategy related comments, gretorp seemed to pick a bone with pretty much everything bitters said...
mr bitters: "it would be nice to be in korea, it is a tropical paradise" gretorp "no it's not. have you even been to korea?" mr bitters "no, that's just what i heard" gretorp "who told you that?" mr bitters: "Violet. He used to live there...."
or this one
Mr Bitters: that is no bueno for hyun! Gretorp: oh man, no bueno for hyun. Gretorp: wait, did you just say no bueno too? Mr Bitters: yes.... Gretorp: you copied me! that is my line Mr Bitters: maybe you copied me... Gretorp: no, because i speak spanish with my gf
Then Gretorp goes on to quiz Mr Bitters on Spanish, distracting them from the actual cast. After failing to stump mr bitters, gretorp goes on to say that he has been speaking Spanish longer than Mr Bitters and had been speaking it before he met his (Spanish speaking) girlfriend. Mr Bitters, visibly frustrated, says "You just lied to me."
And on it went for the whole cast.
Doesn't sound that bad in text but I thought it was absolutely brutal to watch. How does Gretorp get paid to cast? Unprofessional, poor caster, has weird complex where he is constantly trying to prove that he is more knowledgeable than his fellow caster, not funny yet rambles non stop. the guy needs to get the axe.
