This is the first day of Code A/Challenger league for WCS KR S2 with 4 matches being played out.
(P)HS vs (Z)RagnaroK
This first match has been between 2 players who have been doing quite well for themselves in HotS not making giant tournament runs but winning vs some good/great players who otherwise they would not be expected to beat anytime. Even though Pigbaby has better results he has so little games on his record that I have to with Ragnarok to win this Prediction RagnaroK 2-1 Pigbaby/HS
(T)GuMiho vs (P)Terminator The story of Gumiho is not inconsistency but more so that he can play so weird and different sometimes it just works and others fails miseribly looking at the stats Terminator is outmatched with Gumiho's 70% winratio in TvP for HotS, the stats don't lie in this match. Prediction: GuMiHo 2-0 Terminator
(T)ByuN vs (P)Dear Byun along with Maru has been one of the stronger players on team Prime however much that may mean, although he has struggled a LOT in TvP in hots with a less than 40% winratio this doesn't look like a good match for him. Prediction; Dear 2-1 ByuN
(T)MarineKing vs (Z)Mamuri We have the infamous Marineking going up against a relatively unknown ex-tsl zerg now playing on SKT1, ever since the queen patch hit back in wol MKP has not had the same TvZ he once had, in fact at times it look pretty terrible. In HotS he sits admirably at an above 50% winratio, however considering we do not know much about Mamuri, this should be an easy match for MKP with the low but possible upset from the ex-tsl zerg. Prediction: MKP 2-0
It's both, and it's also WCS. hurray for everything being so complicated. I just copied the name from the sc2 resources thread/calendar entry, you can try pming opterown and see what he says about the naming scheme.

Since GOM is doing Challenger league, and everyone still calls that Code A, it makes sense to retain the Code A branding since it has far greater weight and is more consistent. A lot of people still consider OSL technically "Code S" (the players there are S-class), and everyone still calls the qualifiers Code B.
Unfortunately the title line is cannot fit "challenger league", though it'd make sense to put "WCS KR Challenger League". At this point we have to work with the acronyms that people are familiar with and try to fit all relevant information in the title. Maybe in 2014 we can start using "[Code A] Ro48 Day 1 WCS KR CL S2 2013" and people would be able to make sense of it lol
Standardization Committee Chairman has spoken.
Edit: needs "left side imba" vs "right side imba" poll >

Because the entire WCS system fucked over Korea and all it stands for.
It's not because of WCS, I would buy that excuse for the first season but not for the second one. It's either because other titles(dota,sf2,wot) are taking up sc2 broadcast time or gomtv is simply being lazy/greedy and aren't willing to play out all the matches on broadcast and pay the casters for each day.

How can you side with Mamuri who has yet to play a televised game in HotS or do you know something we don't?
Mamuri was a TSL zerg. TSL zergs always win vs MKP except for those few times that can be argued against my point like when he beat HyuN the season HyuN went to the finals
So do we know officially that they aren't showing all the matches?
*edit*
Rounds 1&2 of the Challenger League will be broadcasted in the afternoon on 2 different days for each round. 4 matches a day will be shown for each round. Round 3 will be broadcasted in its entirety with 4 matches a day, on 3 different days.
Every match not shown on broadcast will be played offline at our GOMTV Gangnam Studio with a referee present at the venue.

While it's true that Code S and Starleague have retained those unique brands (contrary to what Khaldor says), Code A has not. It's just challenger now.

They are doing 4 matches for the ro48 and ro32, and all 12 for the ro24. It was the same thing last season. It's really more to do with World of Tanks than WCS.

Finals is 1-1, I think San dropped one map to TOP in the semis but that was all for the whole tournament. The first two games of the final both went in late game and Sen beat a skytoss army with corrupters + queens transitioning into mutas (I don't know how much of the win was San screwing up, but it was still interesting that he could do that)

Gumiho hasn't been in shape for a while since HOTS. I am pretty disappointed at his performance so far. But boy, that game was one sided. Pray for Gumiho's return to Code S. After all, who else could perform the multi-nuclear-tasking?
I'm pretty mad at Byun for risking the entire game to kill some probes. He didn't need to take his marines out of the bunker to do that, it would've easily killed the gateway before Dear could stop it. All he needed to do was wait for Photon Overcharge to run out afterwards and push.

I hope Dear doesn't follow Trap's footsteps, that last game was insanely painful to watch, and so far Dear has shown much more "deserving" (yeah I know that doesn't mean much) play than Byun imo.
So, glad Dear and Gumiho won, but now MKP needs to win. If he makes it to Premier, he gets Nestea award next season. If he drops out... No. I believe in MKP, he will win.
why would MKP push out with his units after scouting 20 zerglings in a little group outside his base? that's not a normal amount of zerglings to scout with -_-
I'm not sure if its ok to say it here, but I think Khaldor needs to improve his casting. He only tells whats happening on the screen (obvious things), which bores me to death. It'd be ok, if he was somewhat entertaining with good jokes and stuff, but he is not. I tried muting everything, but I wanna hear in-game sounds. Mostly I just shut down the stream altogether. Sorry to his fans, but its the way it is

First round of Code A just typically cheesy or bad games. I always get my hopes up but I can't remember many first round games being epic. Things that come to mind are Happy and Maru doing 11-11x3 vs their opponents San and Losira, more games like the ones we saw today where someone just gets wrecked, that haruhi game where he loses in 4 minutes to Nestea. 2nd round is where it all gets good. :/

even Mvp could become irrelevant if he started losing everything.
Maybe irrelevant to you, hah! I shall forever cherish the monkey king zerg, even if he rolls on the floor wetting himself. It´s called love. Or was it delusional disorder? Baby, I don´t know.
Irrelevant champ is irrelevant as long as you are in Code B (or have no televised games) and not a staple of your team in team leagues. Is DRG even a surefire player in GSTL?
Being an irrelevant player simply means you're not relevant to the competitive scene, you're not competitive, you're losing all the time. That's what DRG is. He's not an irrelevant person since people still talk about him and he streams sometimes(I think?) with good numbers, but as a competitive player he hasn't been competitive since HotS came out, no top finishes(or anywhere near top) or good team league results.

Can you be relevant by having a ridiculous losing streak though? Kinda like Storku, who'd have a hard time competing versus a slice of baloney.

Jangbi went on an 11-game losing streak, recovered just a tiny bit, went on a 1-9 stretch, then won the first of his back to back OSLs a few months later.
Keep in mind guys. Skyhigh was not being sent out in SPL because he had a ailing illness for a while and finally practicing. Beating, the mightily struggling DRG is a doable job.

Also another factor to randomly consider is that for Samsung, T8, CJ, EG-TL are done for the SPL and WJS and KT players dont play a match for a while. They will be more prepared than ever for these up coming matches.

He's played in one premier HOTS tournament, he lost in the ro32. That's all he's done since March 12th, nearly 4 months ago.
other than WCS Korea (which he played in for season 1) the only other tournament he couldve gone to was MLG winter championships but he lost to jjakji 2-3 (before i forget what got nerfed but it was a pretty big nerf) because MVP doesnt have a sponsor to send players to overseas events. None of him not playing is his fault, other than him losing in season 1. He's going to one upcoming foreign event but thats because the coach his paying for his travel. So in conclusion, I'm blaming Blizzard and MVP's lack of sponsors (dont know how the best team so far in HotS and OGN LoL champs cant get sponsors but hey thats another story) for DRG not playing as much.
He also told me he is very confident in HotS and is consistently top16 on ladder.
I'll forgive the loss to jjakji because back then you could fit 4 hellbats in a medivac it was pretty bullshit, as for the other stuff it may not be DRG's fault that he can't go to tournaments and show his skills but that doesn't make it any less true that he hasn't been relevant in the competitive scene since hots.

idk. I'd be willing to say most of them were expected except for Sleep over Crazy and maybe Bang over Bunny since Bunny has looked solid in proleague.
Journey struggled to qualify over Stork. Flying had this in the bag. DRG vs sKyHigh was kind of a tossup because sKyhigh hasnt played a proleague match in 2 months because he was sick so no one really knew what kind of shape he was in. Yoda beating Turn is expected. Turn beat Bbyong in proleague but the guy still has a sub 30% win rate in TvT. Ruin vs Balloon was basically a match vs a player who gets some playing time in teamleague vs someone who just joined a team so Ruin winning can be expected imo. Dream has shown very good TvP form so I wouldn't really call him beating Paralyze an upset. EffOrt should have been expected to roll over s2.

Edit: I guess I didn't expect it to be so lopsided. I thought it would be near 50/50 since most of the players are either B team, fringe A team, or have little experience

Well if you look at the overall matches... Pigbaby 2-0 RagnaroK - Pigbaby is the master of preparing builds. No one can beat him without messing up his builds. GuMiho 2-0 Terminator - I don't think anyone expected anything else. Dear 2-1 ByuN - ByuN is struggling in TvP. D: Flying 2-0 Journey - Journey lacks experience, Flying doesn't. DRG 2-1 sKyHigh - This could have gone either way, the only way it would have been an upset was if the score was 2-0 Sleep 2-0 Crazy - You might think this is an upset, but Sleep said he had several ZvZ builds prepared for GSTL when he won against Lucky in AZUBU vs. FXO. EffOrt 2-0 s2 - s2 has nerve issues and EffOrt doesn't. YoDa 2-0 TurN - TurN also has nerve issues, YoDa is a solid player. MKP 2-0 Mamuri - Mamuri lacks experience, MKP has been in the GSL for more time than anyone else. Ruin 2-0 Balloon - It's a PvP between two of the newest eSF players. Could have gone either way. Bang 2-0 Bunny - The only match I'd consider a true upset. Not as much of an upset if you notice that Bunny has never won a TvT against a non-KeSPA player. Dream 2-0 ParalyzE - ParalyzE has only won one PvT game this year. Dream is one of the best TvP players on the planet.
Not as weird as you might think if you look at it carefully. :o
Just wait until tomorrow though. If you think these results are weird just wait until Seed knocks out Shine, Billowy knocks out RorO, kOp knocks out Life, and Trust knocks out jjakji. ^.~
If you said that before games, well that would have been impressive, but now you are just talking AFTER matches...It's lame thing to be an expert AFTER the matches

I was just explaining that things weren't as weird as he claimed them to be. The whole point is to sound like an expert to persuade him that the results aren't weird, which they're not... lol
