I think that it's an issue that FXO.KR will face MVP before RO2, but anyway this qualifier will be awesome.
|
the round of two isn't played as both teams qualify so no issue there. besides fxo isn't going to make it to the round of four ROOT will see to that.

He said it's an issue that they face *before* the round of 2 - so they can't both qualify.
|
Tends to happen with random brackets. Anyway, ROOT4ROOT!
Also working at a public radio station for nearly 5 years has caused me to not see the acronym 'ATC' as anything other than All Things Considered.
|
How many of the matches are going to be streamed?
|
Shooooooooooot this looks good! When do you ever see such top teams in an open bracket? Very excited, hope teams will send out top players

Some nice bracket luck for the teams that get to avoid the Koreans

Haha well maybe you guys can pull off an epic upset

Haha, we'll have to see about that.

I wonder who we will see from MVP considering they have GSTL in a bit too.
|
Do we know which match will be streamed first?
|
I should be running the English stream for this tonight, at twitch.tv/nathanias
Matches streamed will likely be same as on Take's stream ^^
|

I am sure we will see more of you in the future XD

You're very kind. Either way, this is a great experience. MVP is damn good, can't complain.

So they forfeit the game, where they were able to revive one player, because they have not enough players? Maybe I am missing smth., but this seems really odd.

Anyone know what maps these games were played on? I'm going to try and fill out the LP match summary. Also, the stream(s) that you can see matches would be helpful to fill out the VODs section of each summary.

This part confused the heck out of me too. I talked to the Quantic manager and he told me that the admin for these two teams said that they couldn't use an ace player cause the score had to be 4-4.
Which makes absolutely no sense since every other team re-used their ace players when it WASN'T 4-4.

I really wanna see them too. IG actually qualified for IPTL, but then IPTL up and died so it feels like the door slammed in their face just as they got an opportunity to promote their scene =/
This would be a big opportunity for them.

not really, Pulse didn't play sC (he closed out the series against Pulse) as a starter while ROOT did. He might have all-killed (and might not have).
Either way, glad to see sC back in the game, he was a beast at this game. Same thing for Coca... both imo Code S talent (and they have proven it), just bad luck. Health issues for sC and the old forfeit controversy for Coca.

you know how for awhile we were like liquid=Team Taeja. I am gonna put this idea out there EG=Team Revival
|
What's this about allowing a player to be revived? that sounds like a horrible idea.
|
Revival earning dat dirty money :D

1.2 ACE (useable in qualifiers!)
If a team is down to 'x : 4' (one more loss equals to a lost match) the loser can be replaced by a player, who played already and lost his game. Every player in the roster, even those who´ve lost already can be chosen.

It's actually normally only used in proleague format (aka when it's not all kill format, 4 1v1's then if it ties ace).
When it's used in an AK format that's kinda silly imo.

In this format, when a team reaches four losses, they can choose to play someone who has already been defeated as their ace.
EDIT: See blade's post. It's kind of silly to give teams with monsters like Hyun two Hyun's IMO. It just doesn't feel very teamlike.

JIM is just 16 yrs old hope he can participate more foreign tournaments
|
So sad EG lost...I think Quantic will beat invictus though. Hyun is too good. But I could see quantic throwing out other players before Hyun so who knows.

Anyone knows where I could find the detailed information? ( Like rosters of the teams; score, map, and players result; or how many teams advances to the main tournament)

If beating EG earned you a Code S seed we would need to expand the players per season dramatically!

It spices things up. It was used in WC3 in the NGL1, a pretty popular league back then.

Koreans really don't play the same game as everyone else. No foreigner would ever do what Hyun did, but Koreans do stuff like this all the time.

Guess that means no Leenock and Gumiho to ATSC finals? Aww... But perhaps DRG will come!
Idk who to cheer for in the last game. I liike Hyun a lot but damn it would be awesome if a chinese team qualifies.

Hm... Even though XY is behind, his better macro is allowing him to keep the supply gap absolutely even... o.o edit: absolutely, not relatively

ah sorry! I'm watching F1 and just keeping an eye on stream

Finish him!!! edit: wouldn't have thought that iG is so strong, they knocked out a Korean team already and are pushing another Korean team to the ace match! :D

Go Hyun, Go iG... no idea who to cheer for haha.
Oh mass Swarmhost ZvZ, now i'll cheer for iG. ^_^
Rofl that failed hard... So close, almost a Chinese team in Germany.

Close assault swarm hosts strike again.

What an anticlimactic end to such an exciting series...

That camera movement by Delphi(?) is just awful to watch. Besides that nice stream and a couple of good games.

Bah, yet another Korean team makes it. I so wanted a Chinese team to qualify... the Korean domination of SC2 is sadly the biggest threat to the scene.

Wth, did they just mention that EG is eligible to participate in the NA qualifier? Like 80% of the players they are sending out are currently living in Korea... why bother with region locked qualifiers if they are not region locked after all?

Well, that is your definition. It's carried by Korean players, so competitively they are a Korean team for me. edit: to put it in other words, the player makes the team, not the management.

If I cared about the owner and managers of the team I could consider them a "foreign team" but the players they use are all Korean, and it is the players that matters.
|
they werent sure if they wanted to let quantic participate in the american qualifier because they have more than 50% korean players. but i guess 3 koreans out of 11 players isnt too much for EG. Clarity has 4 koreans and Root has 2 koreans too. and in the end eg is eg, you need to give them a second chance to qualify.

eh? it was an AM/KR qualifier, hence MVP and FXO played as well
|
On March 24 2013 18:20 Eury wrote: Bah, yet another Korean team makes it. I so wanted a Chinese team to qualify... the Korean domination of SC2 is sadly the biggest threat to the scene. This statement is just utterly wrong. We had the best numbers at MLG that we've seen since I don't know when and that was completely Korean dominated
I can't believe MVP loses to Axiom Acer and beats FXO with ease the next day.

Also, Idra, Machine, Incontrol, and Stephano are at PAX East, so they did play every non-Korean they had at the moment except for Huk and DeMuslim.

I am not saying that everyone who played is a better player than sC, but everyone that played can beat him. it was a really shitty day / clanwar for us, probably the worst we've ever had, last time we played FXO we beat them, with Minigun and LeiYa beating FXO Korean players as well. This time around, to be completely honest, 3/5 games could've gone our way, but we made a lot of mistakes that aren't characteristic.
Truth is we were expecting a lineup of players and 3/4 players weren't able to play. Sage overslept, he apologized and let us know how he went to bed early and normally sleeps 7-8 hours but this time he slept 12-13, it happens. YugiOh we still haven't heard of but he knew of the clanwar and we're a bit dissapointed, but this is the first time he's done this, so we're waiting to hear what happened. Minigun was playing bad earlier and asked if eh could sit this one out, I told him he could, so during the clanwar he was just shitting around instead, but that was my mistake. (I thought we'd have plenty of players available, but it turned out not to be the case at all). LeiYa was late as well. I made a mistake to announce what lineup we wanted prior to the clanwar in the ROOT chat, it made it so people weren't expecting to play, weren't warmed up or tired and ended up not performing to the best of their ability. I was relying on everyone being available and showing up to a clanwar we were anticipating and I didn't have a backup plan, as a result, we had the worst clanwar we've ever played. But I know my players, I know what they are capable of and I watched every game and cringed at game changing mistakes that I KNOW they don't normally do. Unfortunate chain of events, I'll take the blame.
To our fans, Sorry for a shitty performance, you expect better of us and we do too. We are working very hard to be competitive in HotS despite the odds being stacked against foreigners and haven't given up hope quite yet, we have a very deep lineup and we'll soon be implementing an In-house Ranking system much like Korean teams have to push ourselves a bit more. Tomorrow and on days to come, we'll try to learn from our mistakes and perform to the best of our abilities, that is not to say that we won't ever get 5-0'd again, it happens to everyone, this was our first time, feels like shit, but next time we lose badly, we'll hopefully at least be able to bring our best game out.
I love you AleroR and thanks for wearing the ROOT flair, but don't tell me what my players are or aren't capable of. Won't even comment on the 'legit 12 hours a day' cause its honestly offensive, if you want to know my position on why Koreans are better on average than forgeiners, i've said plenty on StoG and I made a couple reddit posts that you should read through my profile, only last night.
One last time, sorry to everyone, we'll do better next time.

Show nested quote + Puck has the ability to be sC. Everyone who has played has the ability to beat sC.
~ Catz 2013 Catz, I love you, but this just isn't true. sC is far better than anyone on your team. If your foreign teammates practiced as hard as he did legit like 12 hours a day, there could have been some good games. Should have sent out Sage or Yugioh. So I would say he has a right to be a little ticked off with what people were saying
