Because the KeSPA fanboys (and the counter KeSPA haters) would flood the forum really hard for the following week, completely ruining it for everyone. ZvZ final (max balance whine) + ESF vs. KeSPA final (max conflict) + KeSPA winning their first GSL within a year of switch (max fanboying) = the worst LR thread in SC history. | ||

Do I need to reread it? Wasn't the basic idea of the article is that the best players in Brood War, like Jaedong, Flash, etc. would move to SC2 and instantly dominate? Roro was a good player, but he was no godly Brood War star. He has an overall record under. .500 all-time in Brood War. | ||

You know, a TL writer who's been on the site for several years needs to go look over an article that you've probably read several times which was posted by another TL writer because some guy who certainly seems sketchy* said so in an effortless one liner in which you swiftly and accurately swept aside. ESF fans aren't the ones who think their players are somehow inherently superior and endorse one of the most arrogant and disrespectful articles I've ever seen (note that in this post, I'm talking about the extreme ends of the spectrum here, obviously there are plenty of Kespa fans who are cool, reasonable people who also thought the article was bullshit). I hope you realize that the CORE dynamic of this rivalry (inspired by the Elephant article) is that ESF fans want to prove that their players are at least just as good inherently as the Kespa players, and Kespa fans want to prove that their players are somehow superior to ESF players and will completely dominate at some point in the future (just as the article tried to predict). ESF fanboyism, in short, is nothing but a COUNTER to Kespa fanboyism. Annoying Kespa fanboyism is the cause, annoying ESF fanboyism is the effect. Both parties are certainly at fault, but it's obvious that the initial offender is more at fault. You're trying to somehow paint yourself as the victim by talking about majority/minority, but you conveniently ignore the specific mentalities of the two groups. ESF fanboys are certainly not perfect in the slightest bit and have plenty of annoying aspects to them, but on the extreme side of Kespa fanboyism, I've seen idiots telling ESF fans that they're literally not welcome on TL because it was originally a BW site, I've seen a guy claim that anyone who is a fan of e-sports (as in, not even SC2, but e-sports in general) is somehow obligated to know BW history because it's "the history of e-sports", and in the article itself, it said stupid bullshit like how Flash and Jaedong would excel at ANY game (ridiculously arrogant) due to their BW prowess. You talk about bullying, but don't forget that the article, clearly written by a Kespa fanboy, started this whole uncomfortable mess. Without that article, the rivalry would likely be a lot more friendly. ESF fans now have a stake in seeing Kespa players lose that is directly inspired by wanting to prove such a stupid article as incontrovertibly wrong as possible. I realize this may come off as overly harsh, but it just boggles my mind how, after everything that's happened, you see ESF fans as somehow bullying Kespa fans. | ||
