This qualifier will give FIVE eSF seeds towards the IPL6 Wings of Liberty Tournament. Games are played live online on WoL.
Each eSF team nominated ONE player for the "top seed" and THREE players for the "normal seed" as well as one for the "reserve seed." Essentially, each RO8 bracket contains one player from each eSF team, and the winner of that bracket receives the seed. "Top seed" players have two chances - if they qualified on their first go, then the "reserve seed" player can play in their next chance.
Might as well get up a thread for this to promote the event! :D Plus, AcE is casting.

Creator goes for a blink build and Tear goes for stargate, and both expand after token skirmishes. Creator moves out with a blink stalker-zealot-immortal army but Tear manages to get a colossus out in time and Creator GGs out!

Tear opens with 3 stalker rush into twilight while Creator goes gate-robo-gate. Tear gets a proxy dark shrine and expands behind some pressure. Tear cancels the dark shrine when Creator breaks the light contain, also expanding. Tear gets blink tech while Creator goes for colossus and double robo. Tear's colossi and second robo are later than Creator's, but his third base is a bit faster. He manages to catch Creator's colossi out of position, killing 2, but Creator pushes Tear back.
Tear tries to drop Creator's main while moving out to attack Creator's fourth. He does a lot of damage in the main but is driven away from the main engagement. Creator is caught out of position and loses the laser war, and GGs out.
Tear wins 2-1!

Noblesse opens with an 11/11 2rax, but it's not proxied. Curious doesn't find the second rax for a bit, but does notice the low SCV count. Noblesse bunkers the natural, but lings are already out, and a spine and queen are on the way. Curious drives him off and Noblesse double-expands at home. The game settles down a bit.
Noblesse goes for a marine-hellion attack, but Curious' banelings drive it off decisively. Noblesse moves into marine-tank while Curious goes ling-bane-muta. Noblesse gets caught unsieged and Curious rolls in, taking out all but 2 tanks. From here on there's really not much Noblesse can do. He stabilises a bit and takes out Curious' 4th, but Curious has already gotten a 5th base. Noblesse's push at the 5th is unsuccessful, but his later drops are quite successful, killing quite a few drones.
However, Curious goes for the doom push with BL-corruptor-infestor. Well-placed fungals zone out the ravens and prevent seeker missiles from hitting, allowing Curious to take the engagement! Curious is only left with 3 brood lords though, and has some trouble finishing Noblesse off. A final engagement at Noblesse's last mining base seals the game!

After that I really thought he had a shot again, that's why I was a bit sad he didn't use the ravens, if he had gotten some great seeker missile splash hits, I think he maybe could have won, Curious was so low on economy by then.

Both players open up as standard as can be; Noblesse goes for reactor hellions into marine-tank and Curious for ling-infestor. Some token skirmishes occur with the reactor hellions but the first few minutes are otherwise uneventful. Suddenly Noblesse outsupplies Curious, moves out and takes out Curious' 4th base. Curious tries a runby but it's largely unsucesfful. He does manage to clear up Noblesse's push though, catching him unsieged.
Noblesse pushes out again and takes out Curious' 4th twice, but brood lords are out. Noblesse's 2/2 is only just now started. He does a 4-medivac drop into Curious' main while poking at the 4th, and the brood lords are indecisive. Curious loses his hive and spawning pool. In the meantime, Noblesse attacks Curious' 4th but the brood lords clear that up. Noblesse keeps active with his drops, though, and takes out Curious' greater spire at his natural!
Curious goes for the doom push, but Noblesse takes out Curious' 4th (or 3rd, since he never rebuilt his main). Base-trade ensues and Noblesse pretty much wipes out Curious' side of the map. Noblesse has one base mining but is severely supply blocked, but Curious has to build random hatcheries and extractors to prevent him being eliminated. Curious takes out Noblesse's last base, and has a much superior army, but it's less mobile. Infestors get ninja fungals off, and Curious has restarted mining while Noblesse has not. Noblesse tries for a last suicide push, but it's not quite enough. He takes out the hatchery, but Curious has one extractor left on the map, and Noblesse GGs out!
Curious wins 2-0

Very standard openings from both, with Mvp getting reactored hellions and BBoong going for mutalisks and +1 flyer attack. A few skirmishes happen but otherwise the first few minutes are unremarkable. Mvp moves into marine-tank while BBoong adds in banelings. BBoong rolls in with a huge ling-bane-muta attack and suddenly Mvp is dead lol.

Must be pretty annoying playing at such a late time for the Koreans (Currently 12:01 AM). They are probably used to it and adapted by sleeping beforehand, but still, must be inconvenient.

He ran like 30 marines into the creep, and died like flies. I think he thought Bboong was transitioning into late game instead of maxing out of mutas/lings, and got caught offguard.

Good trade there, it was like 30 Lings for one Hellion and Banshee.

Why on earth is this being streamed by AcE?

BBoong going for Roach drops and containing with Mutas, while Mvp is taking a third and building a Mech army.
Well, that's gg.

Mvp opens by fake-bunkering BBoong's natural, forcing a drone-pull overreaction while in fact Mvp went 1-rax CC at home. Mvp moves into reactor hellions and BBoong goes for a spire. Mvp pressures BBoong's 3rd, forcing a cancel. Mvp goes for mech on two base. BBoong scouts this and adds a roach warren and drop tech. Mvp drives off the overlord pooping on his 3rd base area, and notices overlord speed. BBoong suicides his mutalisks and takes out most of Mvp's tanks.
He moves a bunch of empty speed overlords into Mvp's main, distracting him, while the roach army rolls into Mvp's natural, taking out most of Mvp's army and killing off his 3rd base. BBoong is up 190-70 supply, and the GG is inevitable as his roaches roll in again.
BBoong wins 2-0
|
What cost him the game was that awful exchange tanks <-> mutas, not the fake drop. He didn't react to it at all, as the roaches went in too soon, but it didn't matter.

Good, there are more good players in Korea, so it makes sense to give them more qualifiers.

If you think that's bad there are 12 players coming from IPTL which is likely to be LG-IM and then one of startale or team MVP

IPL is basically the GSL of the west and has been for their past two events, personally I enjoy it but I know a lot of people wish there were more foreigners there. I think by now most viewers have accepted the Korean dominance and have learned to be fans of the popular Korean players. I think it if really impacted viewership so much then IPL would change their system, either way I understand if some people don't want to watch it.
At least there is the HotS open bracket which will likely have tons of foreigners in it.

Life please win! I do not want to get nervious during IPTL semis coz the chanses are 50/50 there...

I think it'll be all good. We might get some second-game mindgames with Tear thinking Life wouldn't keep using the Hydra build after Parting countered it in GSL. Or, we might see a counter to the counter of that counter...
Anyway, it'll be great.

Life delays 3rd hatch a bit to get early gas, gets quick Ling speed, then banks a ton of gas on 3 base and gets 15 Mutas. Meanwhile Tear has gone Phoenix harass, so doesn't have a lot of Stalkers or blink yet, gets Phoenix range to defend. Chases away Life's Mutas, kills quite a few but Life is now on 5 bases, and has already teched to Infestors. Life catches all the Phoenixes with a fungal, and kills them off with Muta/Corrupter. Tear tries some desperate harass with Warp Prism in main, and Stalkers/Zealots on the other side of the map, gets shut down. Life pushes with Broodlords gg.

For me, it's still way more fun to watch HotS games and see the metagame shape itself than go back to WoL after almost 2 weeks of HotS, or so I think it will be. It'll be good StarCraft, but not the new shit we've been waiting for. Some matchups have become extremely fun to watch, and the new units seem funny in the hands of gods.

It was but the stream wasnt attached, it's mentioned in the OP here though at least.

Ace has no stream attached here, it's only watchable over twitch, no TL embed. It's a bit cumbersome to watch that way.
|
It's just a qualifier, if eSF cared enough they could have ace make an account and then attach it to the calendar event here.

For Group C:
Win Top 2 Top 4 Top 7 -------------------------------------------------------- MarineKing 30.64% 19.34% 27.04% 22.99% First 23.64% 21.82% 7.04% 47.50% SuperNova 21.38% 16.80% 9.32% 52.50% Lucky 9.38% 12.13% 22.24% 56.24% Jjakji 7.84% 10.55% 37.86% 43.76% finale 3.71% 6.41% 12.86% 77.01% SoN 3.40% 12.95% 83.64% 0.00% Estimated by Aligulac. Make another.
Poor SoN, predicted as least likely to win despite starting a round in.

+ Show Spoiler +But he already had a seed, what would happen if he (or someone else) gets a second seed? Do they just give it away to someone else?

Is this being streamed right now? I don't see a link to IGN's stream despite the event being on air, and the IGN stream is replaying Liquid/MVP...

No it is not. AcE streamed at this time on weekend. Now IPL will stream but there is no date for their streams.

+ Show Spoiler +Then Tear would get an unpaid trip as he was 2nd after MarineKing at the Korean Satelite and MarineKing's trip would be paid by IPL or GOM or eSF.
