MaSsan shall surely take this tournament.

Haven't been very impressed by Koreans lately, MasSan should have a pretty straightforward path to the finals

Really do think IPL missed a trick here making this a WOL tournament. I mean outside of Korea i don't many pros are "full time" on WOL? Think even the Koreans on EG are playing HOTS full time now. I just feel this tournament is going to be the equivalent of Code A. Bunch of all ins. Just think it will be a rather low level finish to WOL which i think is a bit meh.

I guess that this "MaSsan" is better then top tier koreans? Taeja, life, bomber, herO... how is that possible if the only thing he really did is defeating EGSuppy in MLG.
this poll has some biased answers.

Yeah, probably troll votes. There's better choices that could have been included as the final option in the poll like, say, Nerchio or TOP or Puma.
(Incidentally, looking at the bracket, MaSsan's already been knocked out by PiG in the first round).

He got a walkover, still a huge upset for PiG though, congratulations to him on this fantastic result

Looks like Life forfeit. He's playing in the eSF seeding tournament, I guess that's why.

HerO always drops stargate if he doesn't scout third

Could be something interesting by Nerchio
Mutas cant run from phoenixes but phoenixes cant always kill mutas.
Poor nerchio. Thought he had managed to get momentum.

That was reeeeaaaally strong by HerO. Playing phoenix vs mass muta is so hard, one misstep and you insta lose

Engaging there seemed to be wrong. And I don't get why he doesn't add ~3+ Infestors to potentially kill all the Phoenixes in one swing.

I find myself trying to respect Nerchio for his playstyle and how successful he is, but things like this just turn me off. How was that a "cheap win" when HerO completely dissected his play and won it "fairly"? Maybe because I'm not a progamer I won't understand the frustration of losing out on two qualifiers (MLG and now IPL) and on FC, but really, be a bit more mannered.

Tournaments are really bad about setting maps for certain rounds. we played on entombed and cloud kingdom which are 2 protoss favoured maps and he got outclassed on balanced map which is daybreak. What's more he used immortal all in in the last game, that's not neccessarily his problem because i agree win is a win but for me it's a cheap win.

I am fairly sure Nerchio was joking with that last comment. I mean he made one at the end of every game and they were just playful, Hero even gave a smiley face.

Considering the build used on Daybreak, that's pretty funny. Also he took a third base behind this and continued upgrades. He didn't all in, it was a timing attack and guess what's not gonna help you against it - drops. He won the game because he was smarter and you misread the game + didn't scout the attack until it was at your third, basically feeding him half your army. GGWP

I believe you guys, Hero practices more so he deserved to win, we are on team liquid and all of you are biased. I am not gonna argue with you since opinions of spectators mean nothing to me as you have no idea about the game and mind games during the match. If you think having different opinion than the mass is not being grown up then it's up to you, i prefer to be a child forever.

It wasn't an immortal all-in. He took a third base and continued his upgrades.

It was a timing attack after having his third delayed, which he took + continued upgrades. He just had to do some damage which is pretty easy if half your army is completely out of position + on drop tech that doesn't help at all defending an attack...

He didn't all in, it was a timing attack and guess what's not gonna help you against it - drops. He won the game because he was smarter and you misread the game + didn't scout the attack until it was at your third, basically feeding him half your army. GGWP
He didn't scout, that's true, but he was gearing up for an attack so it's not like he was caught droning without any army; he actually had a pretty large army, which was admittedly lucky given the lack of scouting.
Are you suggesting things would have gone significantly different with scouting? What would he have done differently? Cancel drop research so that he could make four more roaches?

Dammit Stephano ! Hope he'll be among the 2 invited players, given IPL gave 5 seeds to korean players.

He did have a decently sized army, and then he sacced half of it trying to defend his third because he didn't notice the attack until it was right at his door step. He was really caught off guard and he never had the opportunity to fight hero with his full force because he scouted it too late, and would have lost his third anyway if he pulled back.

The general rule is that you can't go infestors and expect to hold your third base against a 2-base army.
Even when zergs go two base rush to infestor tech, they need about 10 spine crawlers to turtle if a sentry immortal comes, because lair->infestation pit->pathogen glands->infestors takes about four minutes, so even a two-base tech rushing zerg won't get infestors out till about the 10 minute mark. With a 3 hatch build it's usually gas at 6 minutes, infestors would not be out till about the 11 minute mark. Going infestors would almost certainly mean saccing his third against any kind of 9-10 minute aggression. And if he did do that, then he's a 2 base zerg against a 3 base toss (so he's basically lost).

PuMa played well, but HerO threw this game so hard when he move commanded 2 colossi into PuMa's army after PuMa failed to do any damage at HerO's 3rd. When HerO tried to push afterwards he had only 1 colossus and couldn't do anything. If he'd had 3 he'd have steamrolled PuMa since he had almost no vikings.
That was painful to watch, especially after he'd microed so well at his 3rd at first.

I remember one game on Antiga Shipyard, PartinG vs jjakji. Was one of the best games that season IIRC, very back and forth. Both of them was kind of best in the world in the matchup (jjakji maybe behind MarineKing). Really sick game.
