The time has come for the Contender group matches of the IGN Pro Team League 2013 Season 1!
Upcoming Contender Group A Matches:
Fnatic v inFDreamteam Gaming - Jan 31st
Acer v NsHoSeo - Feb 14th
When: Friday, Feb 01 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also rebroadcast repeatedly afterwards!)
Format
Contender Division Group A is made up of four teams: Fnatic, Acer, NsHoSeo, and inFDreamteam Gaming. Group B contains TSL, ROOT, FXO EU, and Complexity. Both groups will play round robin against each other team in their group. When group stages are over, the top two teams from each Group will have a chance in the Up and Down matches to join Premier Division.
With TSL disbanded, their wins and losses will have no effects on the standings.

NOTE: We have changed the naming schema for this season of IPTL. We will now be naming our seasons by year (though I know you were all excited for IPTL XXVI). This will be IPTL 2013 Season 1.

I would put my money on fnatic, because I think oz and alive should be able to beat every player on dtg's roster and I would not put anyone in dtg's roster above Nightend and maybe even harstem

I think DtG has a real chance of taking it, especially if Fnatic only fields 3-4 players again.

not sure about Oz but aLive should take out at least 3 guys, he is in good shape right now judging by his run to Code A and his IPL 6 qualifier games
anyways, fnatic isnt a serious contender for any league right now, they would badly need to recruit players of HyuN`s / Polt`s calibre

Fnatic doesn't have the roster to sustain losing their best players. If Oz goes down, and aLive doesn't show up, that's essentially it for them unless Harstem can beat the DtG guys (which he probably could).

DtG is kind of like the redemption team. Whenever a player needs a boost, they can always beat down on DtG for a quick confidence boost. MMA got a nice all kill off of them during his slump, and now Oz can get some PvP wins off this team.

Man, Fnatic's roster looks anemic... but I guess when Oz and aLive are on point, they don't have much to worry about.

I still remember when dignitas (or was it mill?) was basically the first team to forfeit a match in the iptl now it seems every one is doing it why can't teams make sure they have the right number of players and actually play all the games?

Yeah, it was Millenium in Team Arena, back when this was a weekly showmatch. Either way, both Fnatic and DtG are also guilty of not being able to 5 players during this season.

IPL should start disqualifying teams from Contenders/Premier divisions for forfeiting matches before they're over. A team shouldn't sign up for a league in which they cannot even field the required number of players to compete and it's shame to leave teams out that can. In the All-Kill format it's possible to get in with just a few players, but teams with full rosters should be more deserving. This just sullies the professionalism of the tournament.
