Wow, I just heard about the University Star League and this tournament looks awesome. Since I live in the US I don't get to see much up-and-coming Swedish talent, so I'll tune into the stream for sure!

I've also recently applied to several grad school programs in Stockholm, so hopefully I can make it to the USL events in the future

The stream is live now, at http://www.twitch.tv/universitysl, and games will begin shortly! NiNMrX (terran) vs shAz (zerg) are the first to play in the Round of 16.

The production is really impressive! The players might not be the best there are, but the production compensates for that .

More people should really tune in, it's well worth the time

Maddelisk could just make a ton of mutas for the win right now I think.

Edit: Though either way, solid crushing victory there.

Yeah, a bit derp-y not to do that move against a starving terran with five banshees. I guess it's the cold speaking. So hard to make decisions when you got a cold.

I think Maddelisk's been watching GSL.

(This build, especially with the spire dropped slightly off of her main creep was done against... Flash I think, in code A?)

Isn't 500 SEK a bit low? I mean I understand that it isn't MLG but 500 SEK is like 58 Euro/77 dollar. For such an event a 250 dollar prize wouldn't be weird.. Ahwell, money isn't everything ofcourse, and I understand she helped to organise it all so Maddelisk herself will be probably be ok with it

Why should it be higher? If price money is your way of attracting viewers or players, then going $100 -> $250 won't change a thing (or $1000 for that matter). People are not flying in from all over the world, or coming to earn money. 500SEK works well if it is just symbolic, and for a student it is still a nice bit of pocket change.

Overall it was a nice event and I enjoyed it. Congratulations to Maddelisk.

The event was really neat! It's great to see tournaments and opportunities for lesser known (and lesser skilled) players to get some time in the light.

This made me wish there was a Swedish Star League, not only for the Students.

I think what he means is that the prize pool is not really coherent with the overall production quality. For a university tournament, it's extremely well produced : booths, animations for each players, members of The GD Studio casting on a real casting table, animation for the map picks, hosts, etc... We might expect a higher prize pool with all that.

Thanks a lot for your answer. And don't worry, it's not a criticism, it was really fun to watch. Congratulations for the organization and your casting is really cool ! Plus, 4000 viewers for a students tournament with only MaddeLisk as a well-known player is huge.

Worth to point out as well though is that she got gear worth that costs ~200 $ in retail from Qpad. Which makes the total quite decent. Also we (as in me too!) got sweet trophies :D.

I think what he means is that the prize pool is not really coherent with the overall production quality. For a university tournament, it's extremely well produced : booths, animations for each players, members of The GD Studio casting on a real casting table, animation for the map picks, hosts, etc... We might expect a higher prize pool with all that.

Worth to point out as well though is that she got gear worth that costs ~200 $ in retail from Qpad. Which makes the total quite decent. Also we (as in me too!) got sweet trophies :D.

The thing is, did she actually need that gear?

Nah, I think she's happy with her Logitech mx518 and Mionix Zibal. But huge props to Qpad for supporting us and providing additional prizes.

The event was really neat! It's great to see tournaments and opportunities for lesser known (and lesser skilled) players to get some time in the light.

This made me wish there was a Swedish Star League, not only for the Students.
