Jaedong up first? Glad to be able to see him more, but can't really see EG taking down Leenock.

Guminock should pull it out for FXO if things don't go as well for their other players.

Wow as of now I realize how many players EG has.

Still FXO should be the favorite.

Not really a big fan of either team, though.

On EG I love me some Tzain, PuMa and JD, on FXO, asd, GuMiho, Leenock, Tear and TheBest (when he doesn't make Banshees).

Either way, should be good!

I'll probably watch because I'm dying to see pro games again, off season is sooo boring. Not even many online cups. >_<

Can't predict against FXO in team leagues, really. But EG will take at least one game, because Choya wants playtime again.

FXO 5-3 EG.

Really wanna see a lot of games from Gumiho, preferably against Jaedong, Suppy and Thorzain.

Thinking 5-2 to FXO, EG (like all teams) will have troubles with Gumiho/Leenock, so it kinda depends on when they get sent out. Tear and KINGCHOYA might score a kill or three as well!

*edit* "Group B contains LG-IM, MVP, Team Liquid, and Karont3"

I read this as 2 teams and a player, lol.

Well, the last two teams also basically consist of just two players in team leagues, so it's only fair if LGIM gets to play just MVP and no one else.

The map pool seems a little dated. 9 maps is abit much but there is also Zero daring ones. I guess it is too soon to add the new Blizzard Ladder maps but i do feel something should have been done to make it more appealing.

All of the Ladder Six is present. Little dissapointing.

Oh well, FXO should win, but I'll be rooting for EG!

Yeah, FXO continue to be overlooked completely despite winning the last two GSTLs.

But to be fair, they don't really seem to take the online team leagues teams anywhere near as seriously. Or rather, they do, but they put a heavy emphasis on giving their B-teamers practice. Anything's possible!

This match is reminding me on how ridiculous it is that Leenock didn't get any TL awards actually.
He lacks the GSL title I guess, but Leenock was wrecking face the whole year.

I tried to look it up on Choya's account, but I'm not sure, I'm no opterown and totally inexperienced at this. D:

I'd say it was played between 10th-14th December, but it could be totally different.

How is this unexpected? Can't remember a ZvP where Jaedong won.

Focus on proleague without ever meeting a P there. EG getting him his better match-ups (to their credit) but it's not unreasonable that it has a reflection on the matchup you don't really invest training in.

It's not an excuse, just an observation. Kespa Zergs have been struggling vs Protoss, this is a fact.

Joshy, you wrongly used PDT instead of PST for the date in the OP:

[date]January 2 2013 16:00 PDT[/date]

PDT = Pacific Daylight Time (summer)
PST = Pacific Standard Time (winter)

That wrongly shifts the date in other time zones by one hour ahead of schedule (i.e. results in midnight CET instead of 1 AM CET). Please fix this.

Okay, okay, I misread and thought you were solely referring to TvZ, because EG is fucked anyway if they rely on that. If at all, they'll have to ZvZ him out or hope that he plays a random nydus build against JYP and JYP spots it. :D

As I don't think they'll win, it doesn't really matter on which map they play Leenock, and looking at Puma's shape, I think he needs all the advantages he can get through somewhat Terran favoured maps to get any kind of win.

He lost to vines back when vines was relevant then just kind of failed to make it back after that I guess people figured out his love for base racing and all ins.

It's not a good sign for a player if he loses to PuMa right now, and then in a ZvT even.

Strange times.

Btw, those games were definitely played on the 14th, this checks out with the one win and one loss I saw in Choyas match history, no clue what the other results are. Just keep watching the IGN VLC player, guys. ^_^

Puma had very late tanks, like 6 medivacs before starting the techlab on factory, and still had 2 tanks with siege up. That's not supposed to happen :/

Tear could clean up the rest of EG, he's the Code B Bonjwa.

I wonder if yonghwa simply swapped soul with tear to condemn him to a life of code B greatness.

You only have very few chances of beating Leenock, don't waste the main anti zerg map in the pool like that

You can always 2rax on Entombed.

From who ? Thorzain ? lol

Puma all kill, duh.

Well, we'll see.
Was saying that assuming Choya won. :d

edit : damn, Lucky. That guy fall of the scene so hard this year.
I still remember him in IPL3 finals

I remember the like 2 months where lucky was considered a contender for one of the best zergs. Oh how did that fall apart quickly.

Damn, those were sad times. Dude just abused fast 3 base broodlord/infestor and roach busts.

Back when fast broodlord/infestor made you a mad man rather than an average zerg.

Not on maps like Terminus and Antiga Shipyard. Terrans complained that they could not read the fast tech or break the infestor line at the junction between the three bases. I believe the pre-BL timing attacks started to originate during this time period and once terrans learned they could outmacro the strategy as well, it died out.

Well, BL/Infestor became popularized, and Roach busts was popular for a time, so he was a harbinger of the future.

True, but I did not like his playstyle. He did not display good micro or positioning or consistent decision-making.

He had that one crazy base trade game against Mvp I think, where he had an almost purely air army with corrupor/brood lord and walked spine crawlers around, that was fun. Nowadays he'd get terrible hate for it, most likely.

I think so, people really saw Lucky's BL/Infestor in Assembly, which was in Feb 2012.

He had that match against MVP where MVP actually ended up backdooring lucky with siege tanks vs his brood/infestor.

I mostly remember that series for teaching me the entombed valley bunker rush position.

Not to forget Mvp ghosts games happend quite early after that, so people weren't already mad at the zerg composition

I think it happened before then. Wasn't Blizzcon in October 2011?

I think so, people really saw Lucky's BL/Infestor in Assembly, which was in Feb 2012.

He had that match against MVP where MVP actually ended up backdooring lucky with siege tanks vs his brood/infestor.

I mostly remember that series for teaching me the entombed valley bunker rush position.

Forgot about DRG feels like forever since DRG and TheStc for some reason always failed to make code A but there's definitely many more protoss code bonjwas than there have been terran/zerg code bonjwas.

I miss the old mouz team league hit squad of Thorzain, Morrow, Mana and Hasu.

I'd be so much more emotionally invested if they were playing, with EGThorzain I'm just kind of impartial because I also like Tear.

In Proleague he upgraded to spork. But that doesn't really work in TvP.

Neither did spooning here, it seems.

Awful observing. Made it even more anticlimactic than it was, there was actually engagement on Thorzains fourth for like 10 seconds while they watched dark templars.

Not the same magic when they field 4 zergs instead of a mixed roster.
A lot less personnality in the player themselves too

Games were played three weeks ago, so it was standard Jaedong. Not all that good, Choya played decently, with warp prisms and zealot/DT warpins, but Jaedong tried weird attacks that didn't work at all and set him behind pretty early on.

Stephano if he plays on point, and maybe Suppy if he plays at his 100%.

I had a feeling Tear would do this, he is such a talented player, just doesn't have the publicity or results.

No Stephano then. Don't remember if he was doing something near the 14th december.. HSC I think ? I don't know

Revival is good ( and it's killing my heart that he's not on TSL anymore ) but I don't see him winning the whole thing for EG
Damn actually, Revival is the first true player that I like that get to be EG. That's so conflicting to me

If Center can improve, he can fill the Terran void TSL needs, though he might never reach his level. Besides, Polt was never the most important team league player (Symbol and HyuN were far better) and was utilized as a sniper just as Center will be used as. RagnaroK has potential, he just needs to take more focus and learn from HyuN and Symbol.

Then Gumiho come and we can actually see a good game to save this serie.

Tear is so good but always seems to get nervous. I hope he can control his nerves and finally qualify for code A, since he's better than most code A players already.

He's one of the more underrated pros right now. Let's see if he can translate his success into individual leagues in 2013.

FXO ist so good in Team Leagues.
Leenock and GuMiho are the aces with Tear being the solid toss who always gets a couple of kills and then a couple of b teamers to snipe.

From what I've seen in Revival playing in online cups, he almost always goes early Pool builds in EV ZvZ.

When I think about it.. if Revival win that, he could totaly win against Gumiho, and then EG win the whole match..

It's not hard to tell, one of them is a two time GSL champion ( and very recent wins ) and the other is not.

I mean this is assuming that GSL > all other tournaments which I think most people would agree with, although IPL5 does mean a lot considering how stacked it was.

Leenock won 2 MLG this year too.
And let's be honest, Leenock is basicly a GSL champion, everyone has forgot Jjakji beside me and the other terrans fans in this thread

Providence was in 2011, and no he's not basically a GSL champion, you don't get to be basically a GSL champion unless you actually win. Leenock has a problem with throwing away good chances at winning a GSL, not winning Season 5 is still mind boggling to me.

ok, but if anything, they are equal. It just seems wrong to say that one is the best when the two of them look so dominant... (with Sniper and DRG behing them, i guess.)

Well according to the stalking actions of some people earlier in this thread this was likely played around 14th Dec., so before Blizzard cup. At that point you might still be able to make a case for Leenock despite most people accepting Life as superior. Kibbilies does not seem very knowledgeable about the scene or the game so it is not really that surprising if he calls a top3-top2 zerg a top1 zerg.

It's hard to tell really between those two :p

I get my Gumiho Revival match atleast. I hope Gumiho win.

Shaddup, Jjakji is very much alive in my heart.

Yesss, Jjakji fans unite!

Damn, if this ends up killing GuMiho, that would be a disappointing end to a potential epic game.

I care much more about the players and their playstyle more than anything else. Don't make this a thing about races, jjakji is way too cool for that.

I am not sure about this, i mean can he get his acc back some time in the future from blizzard support. He can make recovery account form, like someone hacked his acc or whatever (account is on his name so he can upload his ID, he also said that he doesnt have CD? if he is lieing he can upload image of original sc cd, and so many other things...) He's got all the proofs that acc is his. So i am wondering if is there anything i can do now before i buy it, and could i contact blizard to ask them to change the acc owner in my name, if they even allow transfering acc owners ?
So i would like to know, if this is good idea, what can i do if i am buying this to ensure my future acc.
Thank u very much and sorry for being boring.

Don't buy it, go buy the digital or physical copy. Simply said, also this really isn't the place for this, so if you can spoiler tag and refrain in the future that'd be nice. :-D

I can't tell what annoys me more. People who call the match before it's actually over or people who love doing the quoting after it's all over and do the oh so reminiscent of the "I told you so..." Then again, I'm not your significant other so... oh wells. haha.

Going by TLPD alone, Taeja has a good claim to that. I can't remember his last significant loss vZ except the Life 3-0.

None can consistently do it, but they can have streak of brillance sometimes. ( see Polt and Bomber at IPL5 )

Imo Ryung is the strongest in TvZ at the moment. Others with strong TvZ are Polt, Mvp, Gumiho, Bomber, Flash, Taeja, Keen and MarineKing.

But not any that I would consider favored against the likes of Life, Leenock and HyuN atm.

Not a terran or zerg, so really asking.

Is it because to beat the top zergs, terrans need to be a little gimmicky? Like... I see MKP and Bomber doing these insanely greedy builds and while by conventional knowledge it's dumb because it makes you susceptible to all-ins if you keep on doing them, yet all the solid and standard terran players haven't even had any success to begin with. It makes sense to me since doing this kind of thing allows you go to far, but just not win.

Then again... I'm pretty bad so LOLs.

He lost too time in that fashion to life, though (3-0 in GSL, and 4-0 in MLG). But yes, he has pretty good TvZ if you exclude Life.

OMG! Almost didn't see this was going on! Talk about a great matchup! Could go either way though, never doubt a GSTL winning team in a team league.

Edit: wow, it's way later than I thought... where does the time go?
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

true, but im still so fed up of seeing this "i win"-composition. there should absolutely be no composition in the game that is as close to unbeatable while at the same so "easily" accessible as bl/infestor. (something like 15 bcs + 15 vikings + 15 ravens or a max out on carriers is probably equally strong, but less accessible by several magnitudes..)

im just so sick of seeing terrans play a really good game, being in the lead and then losing without having any actual fighting chance nonetheless, simply because they couldnt prevent the zerg from reaching his money composition.

revivals performance today was great anyway, beating gumiho is still no easy feat as is beating tear and leenock.

Believe it or not most zergs don't like doing it either. But if we want to win games we have to.

It's hard to tell really between those two :p

I get my Gumiho Revival match atleast. I hope Gumiho win.

Jjakji may have been a one hit wonder, but he still has more GSL titles than Leenock :p

And there is no almost when it comes to GSL titles, you either become a champion or you fall short. That being said, Leenock is certainly a very impressive GSL finalist :p

Well played EG

I think everyone is sick of it honestly. I am sick of all deathball syndroms. I was sick of the toss deathball before and now I am terribly sick with the zerg one. I more or less stopped playing because as a zerg its incredibly boring to feel the need to either go all in or turtle into this silly comp.. since I have no hope in ever being a top player winning isnt worth it when the comp you play is boring as fuck. This is balance aside, even if it was balanced vs the other races, its still boring as fuck to play aslong as its by far the best lategame comp we have.

And again, playing a toss deathball is just as boring, it just isnt as strong anymore but no way is it harder to control or more fun.

Muta/Ling/Bane and Ultras would never work if Terran weren't expecting fast BL/Infestors. They're metagaming builds.

Nobody said it wasn't a problem. It is, zergs deathball needs to be nerfed and zerg needs to be buffed in other areas to compensate otherwise terran and protoss would just crush zerg like good ol 2010/11.

That is the reason I even stopped playing wol is I hated making that composition.
When I think of something else, something will go here

Nice! Revival is finally showing some good results. Good job by Puma as well! I was getting worried about him after his poor performances in PL.

Wow, what, Revival? I knew he was good after he played in the last IPTL, but I didn't know he was THIS good.

Great work! This is one the most impressive EG wins ever, it's a double GSTL champion.. and it was kor VS kor.. no cross servers

how was the Revival - Gumiho match? I'm asking because of my FPL team, Revival is affordable, a good player, but he starts vs Flash in Week1 :/
