This will be very similar to the Top 200 KOTH that thundertoss has done in the past, only with a little twist this time (HotS Beta!). In future weeks I will probably be doing this with a co-caster (possibly thundertoss), but I've decided to go ahead and get started on some HotS content early since not much is currently going around.
(The date and consistency of this KOTH is still in discussion. This will be a consistent weekly thing, but the day is still to be decided.)
When:
Thursday December 27th, 2012 @ 5:00PM PST / 8:00PM EST
Where:

Format / Rules:
Best of 1's , winner continues until they lose. This will be open to all HotS grand master players and a few selected master's players (non GM players are chosen by discretion and based on skill).
The players will be chosen in order, meaning this is not going to be a list (the reason for this is to diversify game play and match ups and to also highlight player story lines.
Prizes:
$50 - for first person to get 5 wins in a row.
$10 - for dethrone (defeating someone who has 5+ wins)

sounds awesome, although i question the skill level of many hots GM's (since it was so easy to get into, I know several plat-diamond level players in hots gm)
looking forward to both playing and watching exciting strats on stream

The top 200 KOTH has been my favorite event for a long time, glad to see it still around/coming back. Is ascend still around as well?

I tend to agree that there are a good amount of people that were placed into GM early in the season just because they had earlier beta access. Even though this is still in its "beta", as long as you feel confident playing against the other top 200 people in GM (which are mostly professional players on teams), then go for it. If it REALLY comes down to it, I will end up choosing people's names I recognize or maybe even base it off of win/loss ratio.

Yes, the higher end of GM on HotS is pretty much all pros, or at least good/decent GM players from whatever relative server; though, there is noobs in the lower ends of the division. That said, you should still be seeing good, quality games with very few exceptions.
I'd play.. but Thursday seems like an odd day for a KOTH >.>... I'll be getting home tomorrow sadly. I've been destroying ladder this last week+ with 1000 ping, it has been so pro. I'm like 20% w/r suuuup

I agree. The style of casting is also very nice and relaxing to listen to. Game music is slightly loud though.

I will say I would recommend getting a line up or something of players so they know when they play.
atm it's just a bunch of people waiting to play but not knowing when they will go.
Or to avoid constant mirror match ups you could pick out of 3 players 1 of each race everytime x race wins.
Hopefully you start doing this as it would make this already awesome event even better .
Reason being I ended up being one of the first to join the chat channel and never got picked so yeah would be nice to have a line up so I don't wait around and end up not being picked :D

promise you need to pay way more attention to the minimap. you miss alot of stuff that happens in the games.

Hey prOmise just wanted to say I've never heard of you until tonight but you're doing a great job. Nice voice, nice pace of the games (no 15m downtime) and good knowledge. I will certainly tune in for future casts.

From a player point of view I am very dissappointed by how this was ran. I ended up waiting 4 hours to not be able to play. I'm not too bothered as I was doing other things in the meantime but I think this is a place where some improvement can be. Maybe setting up a time frame (like 5pm-9pm PST) and setting up a player schedule. I do not like how the caster is "picking the story line" by being able to pick the player he wants. Just my 2 cents to help improve this for next time as I think this is a good way to be able to showcase some not as popular players.

Too bad the stream was so choppy and there were fewer big names, this was my favorite thing to watch last year. Friday night, beer + barbeque, KOTH. Boss.
Hopefully more pros play the beta before release, or we're going to have a sparse few months. Also, the stream fixed in time for the last 3 minutes of a 200-60 supply game. Bleh. Fun casting though.

I apologize for you sticking around for a very long time and not getting a chance to play in this week's top 200 koth. I knew these kinds of things were going to happen given that so many people wanted to play, and unfortunately, I can't get to everyone unless I'm streaming for 24 hours. Next week I will definitely put something together where everyone will be given an equal opportunity to participate and have their games casted. Once again, this is the first week that I do this and I know that improvements are needed, they will happen, just please be patient!

Maybe I came off a little to dissapointed but like i said, i was doing things in the meantime + watching stream so it wasn't a total waste of time. I'm just saying that I'm pretty sure someone felt like that and just trying to give feedback to make it better for next weeks.

This is pretty much how the top 200koth has always been run
The casters select the player order so that they can maximize the entertainment level of the games. Not to mention they want to make sure that the current king plays a decent number of good known players in order to make sure that someone doesnt get 5 wins beating no-name noobs and walking away with an undeserved 50$
I imagine they should be more strict and stick with players they know for now because there are alot of bad players who are in GM who would not be able to hold their own against the more known players and it would just be one sided games that nobody wants to watch.
If anything the top 200koth is something done more for the viewer than it is the players.
Personally I feel appreciative that this is being run whether or not i get to play as atleast i have something entertaining to watch that has a fresh and new feel to it
