Where are the matches going to be played? Same system as last time with all games on NA or will you change it?
Thanks for organizing the league, it's always been fun to follow, even though it got a bit difficult in the end with so many postponements, rescheduled games and often no English cast. If you improve on these issues, it'll be even better.

We decided to reduce number of participants to 24, that's why some players from previous seasons are absent. Games will be played mostly on NA server, but there is a chance, that some matches will be on EU. Concerning reschedules: we've changed format and system of League in the 3rd season to avoid this. Will it work? We'll see.
Great way to kick it off with a showmatch between the previous champs. Interesting format (exluding mirrors in groupstages).. gonna be fun tho. It might be a typo but I counted 7 p tags and 9 z tags in case you are going for 8-8-8 balance.

Damnit, that's a good point! ...After some consideration though, I stand by my statement. It'd also be very strange to have Vortix (3rd place last season) and not have Scarlett (2nd place last season).
Can't wait, I love to see more FXO players around, as well as the best foreigners. Thinking the Korean Protoss will either be Creator, YongHwa or PartinG, and the Korean Terran Polt or MMA.
I have to agree with StarVe here - lack of English stream was even bigger issue than reschedules last season. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think even the final was not transmitted in English ?

It's really big problem, as most of english casters live in NA and it's early morning when we start. Anyway finals were casted by HDstarcraft (:

Well, it's not too early in the east coast, and at least it makes english VoD's for people who can't watch, and it makes an english stream for Europeans who do not speak one of these other 4 languages.
Aww. Poor Abver, you kicked him out and replaced him (with slivko, I think) without telling anyone!
We've never invited Abver to RSL III and never replaced him with someone else, I think it was misunderstanding or maybe just a mistake here =)
I'm pretty sure I saw Abver as an invite in the first post before it was edited, that's why I was so surprised you didn't invite LiveZerg instead. With sLivko I think it's a bit more understandable, but LiveZerg is a bit better than Abver at the moment. ^^

Throwing up some of them beachballs worked out fine and shut it down fast though. New times.
They played Khaydaria in game 8, I think. No ESV Colloseum 'cause of a problem with observers on this map. They're playing Abyssal City in game 9 instead.

This is a map from the beta / early release. GSL used to have it in their map-pool. It was a showmatch, as in, show some fun matches on old and weird maps (with 1-2 exceptions). Relax~
Yes, i am not going to play in this tournament. In RSL II i agreed to play my matches like 6 times in a row and they suddenly were changing the dates again so we finally agreed to a date that i couldn't attend(only 1) because of school and they got angry so i got banned from their tournament in addition to no prize pay-out. Looking at this map pool and how unorganized the last edition was i have no regrets whatsoever. My schedule was a chaos after all the date changes in this tour.

Since the last season prize pool has been increased to $8ooo and will be divided among players as follow: 1st — $3,000 2nd — $2,000 3rd — $1,000 4th — $500 5th-8th — $250
And $750 will be raffled between RSL I and RSL II champions: Kas and Leenock.
Nerchio didn't mention that he agreed to play on the date our admin requested like one week before the actual date and said that he can't play just the day before game. He said that he messed up the days and thought something like "Friday instead of Wednesday". We really couldn't do anything with it because the date was agreed with sponsors (it was one of the last days), streamers etc so such strict decision had to be made. We are nonetheless thankful for Nerchio's games and being almost always ready to play - but that doesn't mean that any player can take a W/O in one of the last days of the league. Anyways Nerchio is right about our unstable schedule: it's really hard to gather such great players in one time, but we're working hard on it.
I only count $7500, not $8000?
Panishev meaned that $8000 ($8250 to be strict) is a prizepool of the third season with showmatch.

Sorry dude I have to call you out on this one. Terrans don't come back from being down against zerg, neither do protoss. Therefore, Terran was never out of this game BECAUSE he won. See how that works?
As a point of contention, there was exactly one 10 second period that BratOK was down in supply against the zerg. Is that the 10 second window you are referring to when you said you thought he was dead half way? It was 196 vs 183, with zerg in the lead and it lasted 10 seconds. I'm curious whether or not it was this window you were just referring to.
This is a disagrace that you are not inviting livezerg back....
Livezerg is so much better than some of these players. He lost to thorzain and marineking last season who could blame him ? ? ! ? !? I won't be watching because you are not inviting livezerg back.

Who cares about supply? It's the army composition.. marauders and tanks don't shoot up to kill 5-6 bl's you know. If bly had pushed instead of hanging around the 4th, it could get nasty even tho bratok had good production..

I strongly agree. It really is a shame that LZ wasn't invited, such a great underrated player that is never given the chance that he truly deserves.
The babyK vs Happy series may have had the worst games in recent sc2 history? They were rather hilarious though. 50 supply in game 4 vs bio and BabyK just kept building stalkers and suiciding them haha Thank god TakeTV casted that.
Lolwut, what do you have against LiveZerg, Catz is just the weirdest replacement ever, I mean, he has the same reputation of creativity as TLO but having him in a tournament full of top tier players is just not appealing. Pick LZ, Snute, anyone, really.

A PvZ on Debris field. Now this is going to be intresting. Needless to say such a raw island map would be heavely terran favored. Zerg is still at disadvantage with needing lair before taking the natural but it is not that bad vs Protoss who absolutely needs a Robo for Warp prism to expand.

I agree here. Really disappointed about Livezerg not getting a spot back.
Well, clean sweep for CatZ.. who would have expected that?! Gg's!
@ToD: I know you are mentioning it now and then but a little overlay (or plain text) for score at top wouldn't hurt. It's a little confusing if you miss the start of a series. And thanks again for english commentary!

NA servers are down for the moment and will be up again in ~4 hrs. And it's unable to play on EU for MMA, so we had to reschedule thisgroup on Saturday. We apologise for this reschedule, but it's beyond our power ):
No matter how he does, at least I'll see him play a BO5 against Gumiho and Scarlett, should be sick, although his opponents are favoured in both matches.

He had the same problem with Happy. They didn't see the third (although Gumiho should have known) and didn't move into the main and thought just taking down the natural would put them ahead. But if you let the 3rd produce, it is actually 2 base v 1 base
Also, like ToD had said. After killing drones, gumiho could have gone for timing for the win, but he didn't and decided to go for the later game win. This allowed zerg to even up the game a bit.
Seriously Scarlett is the ultimate patch zerg: rushing blindly into greater spire+infestors blindly in all games vs T is a useful talent she got...Well she lost so i'm pretty happy. Fraer fighting!!!

They've been using weird maps in this tournament, like Heartbreak Ridge, Debris Field (!), Scrap Station. Not the most competitive maps but it's refreshing.
it was the same in vanilla wc3, the mechanics allowed spellcasters to be massed as a viable army and so people did all the time, blizzard completely changed the unit interaction in frozen throne to prevent spellcaster massing

There is nothing that can win against such a combo: not even mass carrier...on the other stream for MSI, Stephano is doing his Roach+Hydra style against Forgg which is much more exciting imo.

Don't know what you're talking about, mass casters is still standard in Human vs Orc (Sorceresses & Spellbreakers with some Priests) and Elf vs Orc (mass Druid of the Talons). Even Human mirrors often involve Spellbreakers + Priests from both sides.

they changed how damage and armor types interact, most importantly spellcasters autoattack did very little damage to basic units
in sc2 the mechanics are totally different ofc, but blizzard is aware of the issue obviously and will fix it in other ways in hots

Well, it is smart.
You've nailed the massive problem with WoL right now.
The best strategy for Zerg to use is the most passive and boring to watch game possible. It's also really simple to do and makes it difficult to separate the skilled players from the truly incredible ones. Honestly, the fact this strategy is viable only does the best Zerg players (and Scarlett may well be included in this) a disservice as it doesn't give them a chance to show off their multitasking or ability to engage, etc. It'd be stupid though, to do anything else because mass infestor is essentially unbeatable, and these players have to make a living.

I'm looking forward to it a lot. I miss the days of watching great Zerg players pre-BL/Infestor and queen nerf. I think the new units + more and more infestor nerfs will make Zerg dynamic and exciting to watch against.
Sure, continuous immortal/sentry pushes from two bases is not abusive at all. I'd love to see the day when a zerg wins vs protoss with just two bases at 25 minutes.
Congratulations to Fraer for not being abusive at all.
Lots of Scarlett hate in this thread. Sounds mostly like anti zerg QQ and angst.
Well played games by Fraer though, I've never seen him play like that, he did great. Some really nice forcefields made that frustrating for Scarlett I'm sure. I remember the last time they met Scarlett crushed him with some hilarious nydus play as well as repeatedly getting lings into his base.
Last two games were good examples of why there's infestor/sentry QQ. Not much you can do against that many forcefields...and also not much you can do against that many infestors in the previous game.

Fine, lets say you want it back to when infestors arn't the best units for zerg. You know what the best way to do that is? Nerf them, then buff hydras, ultras and mutas. Every other race is also getting new units and zerg now needs another caster now that Infestors arn't a catch all unit, so you throw in Vipers which are in my opinion the most fun to watch unit in the game right now.

Why do ultras, an a move unit that is now good against everything-- aka a colossus, and mutas need a buff exactly?
Is Zerg a horrible race without infestors? Didn't DRG win a GSL with muta ling bane? Didn't Nestea win 3 GSLs without relying on them?

Well, it is smart.
You've nailed the massive problem with WoL right now.
The best strategy for Zerg to use is the most passive and boring to watch game possible. It's also really simple to do and makes it difficult to separate the skilled players from the truly incredible ones. Honestly, the fact this strategy is viable only does the best Zerg players (and Scarlett may well be included in this) a disservice as it doesn't give them a chance to show off their multitasking or ability to engage, etc. It'd be stupid though to do anything else because mass infestor is essentially unbeatable.
HoTS can't come fast enough.
Eh, I've quit WoL and have had your mindset that HoTS will make everything better.
But between the new swarm hosts, hydras, vipers, ultras, and mutas, man..... Game just aint what it used to be.
Wait, you've quit WoL but you want it to stay the same?
Fine, lets say you want it back to when infestors arn't the best units for zerg. You know what the best way to do that is? Nerf them, then buff hydras, ultras and mutas. Every other race is also getting new units and zerg now needs another caster now that Infestors arn't a catch all unit, so you throw in Vipers which are in my opinion the most fun to watch unit in the game right now.

Same. She's the most abusive player in the scene right now. 61 infestors lol
how did the game even come to that?
fraer tried a 4gate +1 attack with phoenix support but failed hard because Scarlett sniped all of his proxy pylons. Then he transitioned into a robo and a third while Scarlett put on some light pressure, he held, the game stabilized and Scarlett got a fourth and turtled into infestor/broodlord/spines with focus on infestors. Fraer harassed with two warp prisms all over the map and sniped the greater spire and the hive with an immortal drop and zealot warpins and constantly took out her sixth and seventh base on the left side of the map with drops from the other prism.
Then he overcommitted and lost all of his stalker/sentry/colossus army to infestors, had to rebuild and teched into mothership and took more bases while still harassing with warp prisms so he could get carriers out. During all of that, Scarlett sat back and defended and massed infestors and spines. And you saw the rest, I guess.

It's refreshing to hear casters who are not trying to sound uber-knowledgeable and cool, using fancy words and over-analyzing even the most insignificant thing. I like ToD and Desrow!

yeah.. it's like normal E, except you inhale instead of exhale when you pronounce it ^^
Sorry for that incident with Colosseum, it's completely our fault, I haven't checked such things on this map after it was updated to make obsing possible. Hope it will be fixed in the nearest future so we can use it.
The results are already clear. Every single group so far ended with a Terran taking second place, so Lucifron will continue that tradition. Since Leenock is going to be first, Verdi can only end up third.

nice, it's good to see some of these builds reemerging.
I think leenock may have noticed lucifrons scouting pattern. Lucifron doesn't scout the main on 4 player maps, meaning 1 base play will be unscouted for certain. I don't think this build has a chance in hell if scouted, so it makes sense to do it vs marineking on 2player maps too ^^
how did marineking hold it?
He scouted for the first time in his progaming career and got a rax wall up in time then he just contained nestea for the rest of the game and even built a factory right outside Nestea's natural on ohana to make siege tanks

Please look for another good English caster since ToD can't do it. This one and the Gumiho/Scarlett/fraer group are the best groups of the tournament, would be a shame if there was no English cast and/or VODs.

Thorzain's TvZ rating is absolutely miserable. He hasn't won more than a handful of TvZ matches in the last three months or so. As for BratOK, he just appears to be up against a better player.

I'd like to thank you for the stats you provide, very cool(I know you've been doing them for a while but got banned for 2 weeks so I couldn't say thanks) Good job!

Its a bit funny. Empire terrans really seem to have figured out Fraer while Fraer can take wins against Korean terrans (Supernova, TheSTC, Gumiho).
Yeah, but they never reveal how the brackets are going to be made. If we know how is it gonna be created, know what group plays vs what group, noone would say anything. At IPL5 they changed the lower bracket aswell to face them in 2º round of looser and cast it on main stage.

We were to change Fraer with BabyKnight as the last was in one group with Happy and couldn't play vs him in playoffs. If you think we did it on purpose, you are mistaken.
When you have writen rules and follow them, you can be happy or not with a result. But when you change rules at half the tournment and do waht you think its good, it s always going to fuck someone.
Orgfanizing an event is very difficult, organizing a bracket it is not. Only have to copy/paste rules of another.
Seriously, this match between brothers in early stages of the tournaments changing brackets needs to stop. It looks suspicious after some times and doesnt help at all either of them or the transparency of the scene.

What a coincidence that they dont change the match the other way, so they dont have to play in the same half of the bracket.
Such a joke. One of them should forfeit the match. This is so retarded...5 times in 2 months? Come on... Anyway after the IPL5 (3 or more changes to cast them in the main stage) everything is possible..

Don´t understand... if u changed BabyKnight, next round for Luci/Vortix should continue equal. But i think u should have changed Luci or Vortix to get this final bracket.
Hm, i never knew that there were changes in IPL 5. If tournament organizers are doing this on purpose, they should already know that this idea will backfire.
This is starting to be sooo annoying, last 2 times they´ve met was due to "changes" in the brackets... seriously please, none is happy with this anymore...
This is not a Spanish fanboys cry. Its about doing what you want because you are the admin, and then whining because things get ugly.
If you cant organize a bracket, then contract someone. Its not so difficult to get groups phase and brackets and getting everything written one year before the first match, so everyone knows what are the rules.
Actually, it doesnt matter to much what they say about the bracket was made right know. Whatever they say we dont know if that was true before what happen today. This wouldnt happen if they explayned the format of brackets when they anounced the groups, like every other sport competition does.
ELA, if you think that spanish voices are so easily silenced, you should ask for a good psychiaric.
We hacve worst politicians ever, worst lawyers, worst economists, but don t try to fuck with our football players or with our starcraft players. Spains trolls are worlwide know, we can be really annoynig.
Ritmix admins sure that do their best, or at least I think they will try.

They didn't get placed in opposite sides of the bracket. What a conspiracy.
We are not complaining about them not been placed in oposites sides of the bracket. We complain about the ways tournament place the players in the bracket. It would be fine if they play each other early in the bracket sometimes, but they played early in the past 5 tournaments with weird bracket changes that dont smell pretty good.....

When we made bracket, many factors were taken into account: huge tournaments (HSC VI), players schedule, correction for gravitational redshift... But as Karont3 explained us their situation for the last two mnths when Lucifron met Vortix in the first bracket's round almost in each tourney, we decided to edit our bracket a bit.

Changing the seedings to avoid certain players meeting each other due to their relation (be it brothers, team mates, rl friends or something else) feels kinda like a dangerous path to take.
I understand that it might be crappy for Vortix and Lucifron to face each other early in a lot of tournaments, but assuming a non-random seeding was made it's just something you have to take.

Funniest thing in here is that you asked Pedro to change his spot but didnt tell him about the chances to meet VortiX at Ro8 if both win their rounds. Maybe you were expecting some "no" from Lucifron and got your mouth shut???
Spaniards we have been very supportive since the first RSL Season, even if our countrymates werent playing at all, but sorry man, this is very suspicious how you made it and how you didnt give any specific answer to Karont3 managament, just a late "sorry its not possible" after claiming several times "we will fix it"
We dont mind if there´s a duran vs duran matchup as long as brackets/seeds are clear, but not this time, not IPL5 either

You know, I hate to break it to you but apart from spaniards, nobody takes special notice when Lucifron is playing VortiX...
I can understand how you would think it's fixed when it's a live event and there's a main stage and you can hype things up with it, but I don't see how you would think it's relevant in an online tournament... what gain could the organization expect from it? How is Lucifron vs Vortix better for an online tournament than say, Lucifron vs Babyknight or Vortix vs Titan?
The only real outcome you can expect is the spanish whine that is here...

Thanks for getting an English streamer anyway, even though he probably has the most terrible webcam picture I've seen, if I didn't hear the voice I'd think he was about 11 years old.
Leenock basicly gave away the first game! -_- Second game is a fast 6g after FFE (7:15-7:30) from oz who gets his proxy pylons up without much trouble! And third game is a failed nydus rush from leenock!
