Some people have been having a hard time getting in contact with the people they are going to play. So post in your group page when your free to play, add the people in your group, and go to the tournament chat channel. Please do this, if you don't play any seeding games by the time that the tournament seeding play ends you will be out of the tournament.
Seeding Play Is now over.
We have a channel for the Tournament, it's called "Platinum Tournament", It's the best place to get in contact with the person that you're playing.
This is the tournament format.
1. Sign up. Just post here saying you want to play, before Midnight November 10th.
2. Seeding play, each player will play 5-10 best of 3s to determine there seed.(number of games depends on the number of people who enter the tournament). I will let you know who you will play. You must play your seed games from November 1st to November 17th. Because these games are for seeding no one will be kicked out for losing.
When you play a seeding game it works like this. If you win 2-0 you get + 3 points if you win 2-1 you get +2 points, and if you go 1-2 you get +1 iand if you lose all your games in the best of 3 you get +0 points. After you play you games please go and update your result.
First Map for seeding play is Daybreak.
3. Pool play, you will be placed in a pool of 4 players. The top 2 players in the pool will advance to the winners bracket. The 3rd place player will go on to the losers bracket. 4th place player will be out of the tournament. Pool play games will also be best of 3s. The pool play will be played from November 18th to the 24th of November.
4. Bracket play, The bracket play will have two brackets the winners bracket and the losers bracket. All games in bracket play will be best of 5s. If a player loses their best of five in the winners bracket they will be moved down to the losers bracket. If a player loses in the losers bracket then they are out of the tournament. In the semi finals the top 2 players from the winner bracket will play the top two players from the losers bracket in a best of 5. If the player from the losers bracket defeats the player from the winners bracket, then the player from the winners bracket will have a second chance in a best of 3. Bracket play will go on threw November 25th to the 29th, the semi finals and finals will be held on November 30th and cast on twitch.tv.
Map Pool: Only maps that currently are on ladder will be played. WCS versions of ladder maps must be used. After the first game the loser picks the map.
Rules: The players with the higher seed chooses the first map. If the seed is tied then a predetermined map will be chosen.
You may not be higher than platinum, you must have around a 1000 games played on your account and play as your main race(this is to prevent smurfs) if your main race is random you may play any race including random. If you wish to play a race that is not your main(say you switched races) you must state it before hand.

Do you also have a rule for games played in current season? I find if people are playing less than 100 games or more (50 wins) per season then their skill is very volatile and cant be matched very well by any MMR system, and for example, one can improve mechanics/macro off-account or in 2v2 or something enough to go plat to masters 1v1 in a matter of days if not weeks. There's no way to account for that. I guess by only accepting people that are still stuck down in platinum after 1000games will deal with that somewhat, but you're going to to attract a niche of people who are bad in different ways than regular platinum players. I dont know what effect that would have.

Yes I have been thinking of that. So far what I've come up with is that NA will play there tournament and EU will play other people from EU then the winner of each server will play each other, and then the world will finally know which server has the better platinum league!

Wow. This is certainly by far the most intricate platinum tournament I've ever seen. Christ. I'll need to think about whether I'll be willing to commit to that much time and effort or not, especially since it'd mean unvetoing all my ladder maps to practice on.
I've played most of my games as Protoss, but I've never reached a Diamond level with any race, and I belong firmly in Platinum with Zerg so I'm confident that I qualify on skill. That being said, I only have 630 games on NA. I have 1,070 on SEA, but I assume you can't check that.

An intricate tournament was what i wanted to do, because to me a simple Bo3s tournament is really boring. This tournament is very flexible, so you shouldn't have to much trouble fitting it in your schedule.

Hi, I am a platinum protoss from the North America server and would like to play in this tournament. However, I only have 459 games played.
I am really platinum, and not a smurf. I just don't get to play that much. You can see some of the threads I've posted on teamliquid already, I would not post for help and waste everyone's time if I'm only pretending. If you would like me to submit some replays to prove I am platinum level, that is fine.
However, I'm rather busy. You want us to contact the person we're playing and we have several days to get the games played, correct? So it's not like I have to play on one specific day?

You can play the 1000 games is just a guideline, yes you will contact the person and set up a time to play with them. You just have to play you games with in a reasonable time frame.

People from the EU can not play people from the NA directly.
However, they can play through someone elses account, although that results in one player have a ping of 500 ms.

Right now not a lot of people from the EU are joining so I'm gonna say the EU tournament is off, unless you can get more people from the EU to play. If you want too you can get an account and play on an NA server if you want to put up with the lag.

around 1k games played is a really difficult requirement, even including teamgames, my diamond account only has 500 games after 1.5 year and my off race account has only around 100 games at most

Welcome, I've checked out z33k but it could not do all the things I wanted like seeding play and how I was going to set up the winners and losers bracket. Once the tournament is further along I plan to use z33k, but for now it can't do what I wanna do. But thanks for the suggestions.

There's not a whole lot of structure at the moment, but we are just in seed play. I think you just add your group to your friends and look for them. I wouldn't mind having the TL names along with the bnet IDs so we can send a PM if need to.

Do teamgames count to the 1000 counter as well? Because solely 1v1 1000 games is really alot. I signed up on the .docs hope i'll be able to play.

Also, is it okay if you were once ago above platin and your current play does not represent that skill lvl anymore? F.E. I was placed in platin this season again. So my MMR probably significantly dropped

Whoa there, I've found a note from Simon in the spreadsheet the day before yesterday and have updated my chat settings immediately. We actually played our games that very night, and I did a second set yesterday. The results are all noted in the spreadsheet, but Simon seems to have forgotten to update his post here.
I'm sorry for the confusion, but I think I've done everything I can by checking the spreadsheet on a daily basis and fixing my settings asap, so removing me right away after only hearing one side of the story would be a bit unfair.

I cant get a hold of Deathcompany, and Fawxkitteh and I started our series, but in the second game I had a server error at about 6 mins. We decided to replay right away, in our second try of the second game, he disconnected at about 6 mins, and havent seen him/her online since and cant get a hold of him/her.

Jv it's true as soon as sheep saw my message he changed his chat settings. I'm assuming he didn't see my post on here so it's kind of my fault. I think? Anyways he's been making more of an effort than other people to play the games so there's no reason to remove him from tourney...

You know all you have to do is turn on communication with other players, I will let you stay in, but you need to turn on your chat settings, to make it easier for other players to contact you.

Thats why I asked everyone to stay in the chat channel Platinum tournament because I've seen both Deathcompany, and Fawxkitteh there a lot. But it's ok if you didn't get to play them because there just seeding rounds.

I've made the NA pool play groups so go and check them out. I'm still trying to decide how ill do the EU groups because there are less people playing from the EU.

So the group play is going to work like the BWC the winners will play the winners and the losers will play the losers. After the the winner of the losers round will play the loser of the winners round. If you win both rounds then you advance out of the bracket in first place. If you lose both rounds you are out of the tournament. The winner of the 3rd round advances out of the bracket in 2nd place. The loser of the 3rd round advances to the losers bracket.

Can we still play the seeding games to have it add to our score, for first game map choice later? It's no big deal though.
I've noticed that groups are posted, but none of my groupmates have put their info. What happens if they fail to put their info by the deadline? Edit: found the player info from the main page, but still, what if I never see them online?
I'll try to check the battle.net channel to try and contact them, though.

As mentioned by Trfel, has this tournement died? I've played one game in group play and have been awaiting the loser of the other match to play but nothing has happened in like 3 weeks!! This sounded like such a fun thing, a tourney just for us plat players but now it seems dead... unfortunate, can we get official word from the OP on this!?
