Well, with like 2 foreigners in each GSL. Even if assuming all players are equal, the chances of a foreigner winning is 1/16. I definitely think it CAN happen but a lot of things need to go well and align. A few things against the foreigners

1) The 2 that have the highest chance (Nani, Stephano) still have a very weak matchup (vZ). Previous, players like Mvp and MMA got by with a weak vP but the race ratio is much more balance now.

2) Koreans are more used preparation BoX matches which just doesn't apply to a majority of foreign events.

3) Kespa players are incoming so the talent pool in Korea has increased dramatically.

Haha, naniwa such utter trash. Lol at 55 stupid people polling for naniwa over heart .... come on naniwa is so overrated he never stood a chance. Much like every other foreigner out there.

I dunno. MVP had to crush all of those Protoss players in his last GSL win and a few of them were particularly strong against Terran.

I thought Naniwa got kinda lucky with his group. It is tough obviously because it's Code S, but it wasn't anything like Mana's group.
I didn't see the games for myself so I can't judge whether he just played cruddy, or that I under estimated the other players.
I am happy to see Squirtle move on though!

This is going to rely on either DRG or Nestea breaking their slumps as well as Life performing up to his new raised expectations.

This is also relying on JYP winning a group that has Nestea and Supernova in it.

I don't know, the odds are looking good right now for a Terran heavy RO16. Not that I think that's a bad thing. It's good to see Terran finally bouncing back from a miniature dark age.

And even then Terran heavy or not. Someone still needs to figure out how to get past Seed, otherwise I see no reason why IM won't take another trophy for their trophy case.

Seed is one of the favorites but so are players like Taeja, Squirtle, and others. I don't really see anyone as an overwhelming favorites since there are still so many great players left.

From what I've seen so far in the RO32 and the GSTL. Seed is looking dominant, while Taeja and Squirtle are just looking strong.

However:

Seed managed to avoid playing Leenock (who looks like he's spending time in the hyperbolic time chamber) and Taeja didn't really demonstrate much outside of very strong TvT and the ability to stomp all over poor Mana, so maybe I'm underestimating him.

But from what I've seen so far, Seed looks like more of a favorite than Squirtle or Taeja do currently.

I'm sad to see Naniwa fall out of Code S. To be honest, he hasn't played well the last few months so it's not unfair nor unexpected. He hasn't shown Code S calibre. But he's a smart and innovative player, I believe that if he can get back in shape again, he can go further than before. It would be horrible if he fell out of Code A in the first game, I really hope he can get back up on the horse. Not only for his own sake, but for the hopes of foreigners. It's especially fun for us Swedes to have a countryman to root for.

And to the people who like to gloat and hate, take a moment to think about why you bring so much negativity into a wonderful sport like SC2, when there is so much good to focus on. Listen to Artosis.

If Naniwa wouldn't be a progamer, he would be a serial killer with that look while he's playing.

Also GOM has to distribute Code S seeds again, because with the current skill level no non-Korean progamer will get into Code A, not to mention Code S.

What happens when Naniwa loses in the first round of Code A and falls out of GSL altogether?

I was mainly referring to Aug-Oct last year when P representation was very very low.

Feel bad for Naniwa though I am really not his fan. I remember his interview last season, how much he wanted to show what he's capable of.

Tough to show off anything when you're dealing with a player like Heart.

I wake up to see what happened.

Really glad that Naniwa got knocked out.

There are more players that deserve code S spot

than Naniwa. I hope i dont see him in code S again ^_^

I'm talking specifically about the last few games in GSL and GSTL.

I'm not talking careers, I'm not even talking about their trending performances over the last few months and I'm not even making a claim that's intended to be interpreted as fact, I'm just voicing an opinion for purposes of discussion.

But sure post their ELOs. Like I'm not already totally aware of them.
