Agreements
* By signing up for this tournament, you agree to participate in NASL Season 4 should you qualify. NASL Season 4 will take place from approximately September – December, 2012. Each player will need to be available once per week to play his/her matches for the duration of the season.
* In qualifying for NASL Season 4, the player’s team agrees to pay the $500 security deposit required of the league
* The player must be on a team by the beginning of NASL Season 4 if he qualifies, if he is not on a team at the time of this tournament
* The player will not be allowed to participate in any future NASL tournaments if he qualifies for the season and fails to participate.
Rules
Playing the match – all games are 1on1: no observers are allowed except officially sanctioned NASL casters and/or administrators. The correct maps MUST be used – a start map will be listed for each
round, and the loser will choose from the remaining maps in the map pool. No map can be repeated in a series.
Free wins – If your opponent is not online or in the channel within 20 minutes of the scheduled time of the match, you can take a free win. To report the free win, message one of the BG (Beyondgaming) administrators.
Disconnects – If a disconnect occurs in the early stages of the game and/or without any major action, the game will be re-played. If one party thinks he had a significant advantage, email xeris@nasl.tv with your dispute, along with the replay, and an administrator will make a final decision.
SERVER – All games will be played on the NA Battle.net server, no exceptions.
Default Channel – All players will meet in channel NASL, (NASL1 and NASL2 if NASL is full). It is the player’s responsibility to be in the channel at the time of the match. If a player is not in the channel and his opponent cannot contact him, he is liable to be forfeit.
Default time – Each play-day will start at 8:00pm EDT (20 CET, 3:00am KST). You are responsible for showing up on time.
Disputes – Any dispute not covered in the rules should be emailed to xeris@nasl.tv . Note: all disputes must be made BEFORE the completion of a match. Disputes (such as a wrong map being played) made after games have been played will be ignored, unless significant cheating, map hacking, or foul play has occurred.
Reporting Results – All players must have BGLink downloaded and enabled. Results will update automatically until the Ro16. At this point, all results and replays must be emailed to xeris@nasl.tv . All replays must be attached for the result to be valid.
Administrative Decisions – All administrative decisions are final, and can go beyond the rules.

woot woot :D quite a lot of signups so far, nice!

Some cool signups already. This will be great. Would be nice to see some Acer players in season 4!
|
Pretty good signups for now. Hopefully we get some more Euro's in there, despite the time. Koreans should be able to do it, I think.

Already more people than the last qualifier round from the looks of it.

lol that must blow, the second place winner only gets 250? he should at least get a spot in the Nasl getting that far

He'll probably be contacted at IPL5 depending on his performance.

You missed Sleep, Bly, and Heart.
Maybe the top prize should be bumped to $1000 and money given to top 4.
|
Of the people signed up definitely Scarlett and Crank would be considered favourites, but it's very very early days for the sign ups.
The prize money is great. The qualifiers was a season 4 slot and a chance at the season 3 finals, this is much more immediately rewarding for the players.

Will any games be streamed?

I would expect it to be like the last round of Qualifiers where they broadcasted the Round of 8 onwards.

Ah, it would be awesome seeing MMA in this. NASL needs more GSL champions

Uhh, why only 4 spots? 12 got eliminated last season right?
NASL should really start using a better system, especially for the real season. The end of each season and seeing who gets a playoffs spot is confusing as fuck every season.

4 new players from this qualifier, 4 new players (Masa, Galaxy, Beastqt, and finale) from the Open tournament, and 4 invites (I believe).
That being said, I wish NASL could have stated the rules for making the playoffs at the beginning rather than keep it hidden.
Edit: Changed sC to finale. Thank you Dexington.

It's been pretty similar every single season.

Yay, Catz just signed up. So glad he's trying to get back in, his move to Peru unfortunately really gave him a poor start to the last season.

Using it every season doesn't make it less confusing.

Someone should tell Lowely that he's already in NASL Season 4.

He may have not confirmed in time, like Socke did last season.
I wonder if some of these guys are aware you need to be on a team to get a spot, regardless of winning. Some notables, like Future, CranK, ToD, AureS, Artist and DeathAngel, don't have a team as far as I know.

I imagine it's a rule that NASL might ignore at their discretion, I can hardly imagine they would turn someone like Crank away if he won. Perhaps they would even allow a 'Team Crank' sort of situation as a temporary measure.
|
Just so you know Sleep is listed as a member of x6 in the notable participants list, although he has left the team

Just realized that isn't Lowely, it's FXOMinato using Lowely's account. He probably doesn't have an NA account. He doesn't show up on any team page on Liquipedia, but TLPD has a page for him.
|
Ahh ok.
Some more great names have signed up, Socke, Nony, Incontrol, Machine, & Suppy!
|
|
Man something like 140 people signed up for the first round, this is more like what I was expecting for the last round of qualifiers. There was probably a higher percentage of Koreans in the last lot though.

Inca, IceCream, TOP and JookTo signed up

Guys -- just remember that matches start at ... 5pm PDT THURSDAY NIGHT (that's 9am KST Friday morning)... channel is NASL on the NA server. If NASL is filled... go to channel NASL1.

Are you broadcasting any games as they're played?

We'll be broadcasting from replays as soon as games are finished. The broadcast starts at 6pm, games themselves start at 5

Nah there are 4 consecutive different tournaments, each winner gets a spot and 750$. Runner ups get 250$.

I kinda wish there were more spots for NASL. So many awesome players wont make it through.

I know, Idra, Machine and Daisy are signed up now, this is a sick line up.

So it's only 2 rounds/day??
Any particular reason why it's so spread out? I doubt u will be casting Ro256, 128, 64, 32.

Most likely due to time zone differences.

TubbyTheFat to win the tournament with only PvP!
Incontrol is also signed up twice?
At least 72 players with Liquipedia pages are signed up. That's nutso

I dunno bout that, will be 5PM PDT, 9am KST, and 2am CEST...eu kind of gets screwed, but maybe..obviously someone will get screwed no matter what.
Also, if we don't get 128 players (only 64, lets say), then do we not play at all today???

We obviously won't cast every single game, but we want to cast as many of them as possible.
With this many players, and this many games, spreading it out over four days gives us tons of good games to cast, and more importantly, it allows us to easily fill our broadcast obligations to our sponsors.

The Olympics revealed something awesome to me. Not everyone gets what they want, when they want it. Beach volleyball finals happened at midnight. Other events take place at random times too. We are an international community. We can't always do everything in prime time for everybody.

Well it's better for the disadvantaged than playing the entire tournament in one block. But it seems like that is not the case.

Ya, that's what I figured for the spread out times... was just wondering (not complaining).
Thanks for the answer. It only showed we had 46 players signed up when I checked but it must have been mistaken or I read it wrong..which is why I asked. Ya, apparently when it says 210/256 Spots it means only 46 are left, not 210. My mistake.

That is a very generous description, Gretorp.

Given that HuK made the Season 3 offline finals, his position in Season 4 is pretty safe.

Sometimes you can't avoid stuff. Well Xeris, its raining because warm air turns the water from rivers, lakes, and oceans into water vapor that rises into the air. That water vapor forms clouds, which contain small drops of water or ice crystals (depending on how high the cloud is and how cold it is).
As clouds rise higher and higher, the air gets colder and colder. When the water vapor in the cloud becomes too heavy, it falls back to the ground as rain or snow.

I like what Inca did. Zerg are used to defend stargate play with queen and spore because protoss player are very light on it.
A big 2 stargate play with 3 Voidray / 5 pheonix is garante to do big damage if the zerg greedly skip Hydra.

Is it an idea to update the OP to state that BeyondGaming's brackets are ridiculously screwed up on Google Chrome? Apparantly people were playing the wrong opponents and such today.

It's not being greedy to skip hydras. Going hydra is a bad idea in general, getting corruptors or relying on infestors is something the zerg should be doing.

Scarlett vs. TOP... these mindgames are epic!

i hate how the casters are missing the complete genius of what top just did.. he ended up actually quite far ahead vs scarlett by not showing he was expanding.. but scarlett.. makes 2 banelings vs top? we don't hear the end of it..

Because he can't/doesnt want to change it. Nothings making him, same reason why tod was FnaticRCToD despite not being on the team

Wonder if top isn't playing as much lately or something as his money seems high for awhile now >< (this was when he was at 120 food and he had 1.4k minerals and not when he was close to max or maxxed).
|
|
Hmm, with teamless players like TOP, Inca, Crank and ToD in the qualifiers, and NASL rule requiring players to be on a team to participate, I wonder if it would force players to find a team, any team, or would NASL try to amend their rules?

Not sure what's the anwser to BL corruptor infestor when it's heavy corruptor. Raven I guess. ( And I'm serious, I'm not the nydus/raven lolol guy )
Going very heavy marines with a few ghost and try to go before the BLs perhaps too. Viking wont cut it, specially 0/0 against 3/3.

I agree. TOP was way ahead... 40-50 food up, a huge bank compared to nothing... and Gretorp kept saying that Scarlett was phenomenally ahead. She was only ahead because she got a few huge fungals off on the vikings and then things tumbled out of control for TOP... but they acted like Scarlett was ahead all game long -.-'

That's classic TOP. Hardcore macro, but nothing too special elsewhere. He's kind of like a Terran version of Ret. When you enter the late-game with a significant lead due to superior macro, you have a larger margin of error than your opponent and thus don't train your late-game as well since you can afford to play sub-optimally.

I don't see how you can justify building 40+ vikings over the course of the game, never bother investing a single upgrade for them (against 3/3 corruptors), and expect to achieve anything.

That's clearly a big mistake, no denial. But even with 2/0 viking ( usually what player get when they're up on it ) it would not have work I think.
I always love Terran players in these spots. "Fuck it I lose the previous half hour long macro game, I'll just proxy 11/11 the fucker. " No offence obviously.

We mentioned the mind games a lot, I hope you tuned into the whole broadcast.
she was really far ahead all game long. Saying that Top is ahead b/c of food is one of the silliest things ever. If that were the case just 1 base every single time and you'll have more food than your opponent.
If you ask pros, i guarantee 99% of them will say she was ahead all game long.
I'll stop using actually. Thank you for noting!

I don't mean to be argumentative but a Terran hiding the fact that he is expanding behind his wall is a pretty obvious move. I mean I realize he correctly gambled on having Scarlett overreact at the loss of some mining time(for floating the CC) but Terrans do this in my diamond scrub games and I wouldn't call any of us geniuses...

Really? I hate when I scout a Terran last on a four player map as it is always a coin flip as to whether they are expanding or going for an all in. Maybe it is one of those things that is considered bad by talented players so at high enough levels it can catch players by surprise as in this game. But yeah this happens pretty often in diamond. Seems like a pretty intuitive move given that CCs can float and Terran all ins scare the bejeezus out of me.

why are you taking away the win from scarlet? she won in those long games and lost to a cheese. she's a great player that beat a GSL finalist. saying the win versus top wasn't that impressive is like saying beating rain, rainbow or Fruitdealer isn't impressive.

Mmm.
If you do not prepare for DT's versus Inca...but Inca does not go DTs...
|
IdrA falls ever just a bit short of victory, le sigh.
2000 minerals and 600 gas when he left at the end + greater spire completed. Think of what a 2000 minerals and 600 gas remax was going to do to Inca's 120 army after the initial engagement, followed by 8 brood lords, and you have the difference between IdrA and Stephano.
|
hard to pick what he did wrong...bad macro + no larvae. I mean 2.5k banked with 600 gas he easily should have had a extra queen + hatch or just be injecting better.
also no way would 5 BLs be able to deal with that many blink stalkers. Also upgrades probably in effect there it was 1 carapace + 1 melee upgrade vs +3 weps protoss.
if idra remax'd with his money bank just on roachs/lings it probably would have been fine maybe, but oh well.

It would have been a pretty resounding stomp...
Still, liking this play from Idra a lot more than what we saw perhaps half a year ago. Just need to make small adjustments rather than looking lost as all hell.
Furthermore, I am wondering whether that four Zealot drop ended up doing any damage in his main. They were kind of fighting Spines in the one shot we got of them, but they could definitely have done damage had they been micro'ed without any real opposition.

What was Idra's bank looking like before that attack started? I think if those corruptors were BLs for that fight, it would have been a stomp. And he definitely had the time to get them out (maybe he would have to stall a few seconds at most), but I didn't catch what his bank was looking like. All I saw was him randomly maxed after seemingly keeping open supply for BLs, which is definitely a big mistake if he had the money for the BLs.

Ah, the worst engagement of all time, that's how he can lose this.

7 bases and no broodlords.
This is stupid indeed.
|
|
|
What the hell? Idra's one of my favorite players but good lord, what the hell just happened?
|
*Sigh*, IdrA really needs to work on choosing better engagements, he had that game in the bag. Maybe it was his inexperience with the Symbol ZvP, but he still had control of that game for most of the time.
|
well that was stupid...he left at a terrible time, but i thought idra was doing better with leaving early?
|
If he just fucking flanked from both sides, Inca would have needed twice as many storms (which he didn't have).
Holy fuck that was frustrating to watch.
|
Idra's in hot form.. Not his play unfortunately
|
That's it, screw all my bases and the time that's more than enough for me to remax, /ragequit
|
Oh this my Idra xD...
Ps: Never i think he can lose this Game...
|
how the fuck can you be that bad. like what....im speechless just attack from 2 sides like every zerg would do it and its easy win...i dont get it
|
IdrA threw that game away. He was looking really good until that first fight at the 4th.

Symbol ZvP (which was done way before Symbol started doing it) requires good positioning and micro. And I will digress from there...

I also realised that better FPS would help me a lot XD
|
I must say IdrA still has drawing power, the stream went from 3K viewers to 8K just during that match.
|
Idra really needs to innovate. Making a ton of crap and 1Aing hasn't worked since GSL 1 when Fruitdealer won.
|
Idra had that in the bag if he didn't take that engagement at Inca's fourth.
|
its like idra is trying to make protoss look op throwing away his units and making a horrible unit comp
|
He attacked in the worst place possible. All his banelings and ultras down the same choke.

Idra losing and raging as usual.

It's like Idra purposefully chooses horrendous engagements to prove a point or something. I guess that point is that he's not very good right now.

Yes, that's what I mean by "that engagement"

I like the approach NASL took with discussing the recent stories about gaming in the media. "check it out, we're being talked about big organizations. tl;dr go read and judge the content for yourselves"

Really hope Crank gets picked up by a good team.
Must think happy thoughts after that game. Not even about whether I care for Idra or not, that was just super painful.
|
|
Caliber and Sleep have been playing for hours lol
|
Anyone have the bracket link?
|
|
As a zerg player, I kinda feel bad for Idra and I can certainly relate to his frustration. But he should never have attacked into mothership, colossus, templars and cannons. What the hell was he thinking? That can't be done.

Symbol ZvP is not new, people need to shut up about it. Just because someone popularizes a strategy in a high-profile match does not mean he invented it.

That is an insane precision on starting Infestors in conjunction with Pathogen Glands. First seven Infestors popping out pretty much two seconds after the upgrade had finished.

It's obviously a slip up from being used to saying he/him in every other game they've casted.

Quite. Also it must pretty much be naturalized within every single caster to refer to any player as he/him. I would be super surprised if they meant any disrespect whatsoever.
Also, yeah I know Dexington re: Infestors/Pathogen Glands. Not saying it is new or anything, just really nice to see such a crisp timing. Perhaps I have been watching too many sloppy games recently, but usually the gap is a lot bigger.

hm why does protoss not start to build mass voidrays after he came back from the first fight?

I wonder what would happen if somehow we could engineer brackets to feature Tod versus Idra.
|
For scarlett to make the finals, she beat slayers dark, now she has to beat tod, then daisy, then major, then likely Crank.
Then in the finals.....stc,inca,golden or sleep.
thats a really tough road

Second game a row with a bunch of whine instead of GG. Idra and ToD should play each other next and see who wines more when he loses

hm im sure there could be a strat where toss goes for early ship upgrades and build void rays in that situation and do well. colossus just got sniped and fungaled aswell without doing aynthing so why not try it

Looks like a Korean will for sure make it to the finals for the top half, but the non-Koreans have a great shot in the bottom half. Major, Scarlett, Illusion or Bischu are all top notch players.

It would be tough because, like muta's, vr's clump and stack, they are also glass cannons. with the amount of fungals the zerg army has, they can usually take out those vr's very quick.

Major is clearly the best of those four, Scarlett and Illusion may be in the same tier (with illusion being better) and Bischu is a few levels below the others.

2 base allin, 3 base attack before broodlords, if zerg gets broodlords u gotta get mothership/archons/templers...
theres points in the game where either side has a big advantage when zerg first gets broodlords they usually ahve a huge advantage

I dunno why people keep saying this, we _NEVER_ say anything else than she or her, yet every single time we cast a game of scarlett people say this, it's like you guys are so eager to create drama oO watch the VOD and give me 1 example of where we said he or him, if anything it ever happens might be in the heat of the battle since we cast guys play 99% of the time but stop trying to create something that isn't there -_-, besides that thanks everyone for watching, hope you enjoyed it

I remember you said he like once or twice, but I really hate when people can't get over it as a mistake. Whenever Scarlett plays people jump through hoops to "defend" her against things that don't even attack her.

Oki ;p sry in that case too, didn't wanna jump into heavy defend mode or anything but we've got a producer sitting in the studio who will jump up screaming if we would say he or his like 3/4/5 times as its obvious it ain't right, as I said before it might happen once or twice because we are so used to casting guys play vs each other but we'd never do that on purpose, yet the last 3 times I casted scarlett games I've read this every time while for my feeling we never do that, anyways all good, glad you enjoyed the show, can't wait to see who makes it in the end ^_^

I think it would have been possible to start a week earlier. That gives you a clash with ASUS ROG but as your main demographic appears to be North Americans then that clash would have been less of an issue.
The best solution would be to just run qualifiers on weekdays though, then you avoid the issue of conflicting with weekend events altogether.

Watch out for DTs! I repeat, this guy will use DTs against you. Build spores and overseers preemptively.
Don't think that he is using his reputation to mind-game you into needlessly getting detection. He is double mind-gaming you! Make detection!
Seriously, good luck though :p

I would think the key to inca is just lots of scouting, he's either using DT's or Voidrays. either way spores early would help.

He was not maxed and he should've been at least below 500 gas before he was maxed. He was floating 1000/1000 before he even hit 170 supply.
He had templar to feedback the infestors and he didn't use them.

In the context of discussing protoss females, Bitter said something like "What would you do with a woman without a mouth?" pretty clearly in context implying that oral sex is the only purpose women serve. Rotterdam responded by saying that a woman without a mouth would be awesome, that relationships would be so much easier then, implying (if not directly saying) that the communication of women is a contemptible thing that needs to be minimized as much as possible.

Well everyone knows that Protoss girlfriends are superior to Terran ones, and certainly superior to Zerg girlfriends (ouch). The immortality thing also means that you never have to worry about your girl getting old.
And the sex...priceless

I doubt that either of them are really misogynists and they were truly speaking in jest(if I recall correctly they both have girlfriends.). They tend to have bro moments where they speak a little crassly in which is very inappropriate on stream, I too was little shocked to hear them go off like that. I wouldn't freak out about it but they probably need a tap on the shoulder and a reminder to keep it a little more respectful.

Seriously? This is so pathetic I actually can't tell if you're joking. Putting entirely aside the serious problems the gaming scene has with gender, jokes about that stuff can be perfectly fine in complicated contexts where everyone knows everybody really well and people's actual views are beyond question, but I don't know these guys personally, and plenty of people watching know them even less than I do. Outside of those contexts, those kind of jokes are evidence of serious character defects.
This isn't a point about professionalism or whatever. I don't particularly care whether they're professional. I do kind of care that they're not terrible people.

That would be great. I hope that's true. I don't think I have particularly good evidence that it's true. People with girlfriends can be misogynists too. What people say in unguarded moments tends to shed light on their actual views, regardless of what they say when they are paying attention.
But I've said my piece, I hope somebody at least taps them on the shoulder.

The issue of misogyny aside, I just find it interesting that your name is InvictusRage, which in Latin/English should mean "Inconquerable Rage" if I am not mistaken :p
Sure I can see how the comments could get some people upset, but it was really just some light-hearted banter. Nothing malicious, and maybe a tap on the shoulder like you suggested probably would be a good idea.
However, it's probably not best to label Bitterdam misogynists just from this. That would be a bit of an overreaction.

If people want to continue talking about that remark :: It's something that would get you booted off of broadcast TV if it was said during a sporting event. In the context of a random bs starcraft stream, it's not really a big deal... but it's the reason why SC2 broadcasting will never expand beyond what we have now. Lots of major community figures have been commenting on sc community professionalism for a while now... obviously it's not going to be solved.
That's the reason why some people are 'upset' or 'being uptight'.

Let's face it though: at this point we are far from being mainstream enough in North America to be on broadcast TV. There are much bigger issues on why we aren't on broadcast TV, and it's not because of the occasional politically incorrect remark.

You don't think this is the kind of stuff sponsors care about? Because getting sponsors willing to bankroll by paying players and broadcasters is the biggest barrier to becoming more mainstream. Kellog's stopped sponsoring Michael Phelps because he was caught smoking pot despite the fact that he is still hugely popular. You don't think Destiny's behaviour has hurt him financially? No this one comment is not going to destroy the NASL and the lack of it is not the sole barrier to mainstream appeal, that doesn't make self destructive behaviour a good idea.

SC2 isnt mainstream because its a god dam video game. Society (atleast in the usa) has to change becuase SC2 ever has a chance at mainstream. The jokes casters say while might affect sponsors (to a point) isnt going to have a huge impact on whether or not sc2 is going to go mainstream..
Bitterdam did not end SC2 or another video games chance at hitting the main stream..

One season too late. If he had signed up last season and qualified, we would have seen Liquid's entire roster in the NASL last season.

I wonder if some of the guys were like 'Inca made the semi's? I need to get in on this action!'
|
To be fair, the only new Koreans are TaeJa and Coca, I think, and Taeja had actually signed up for the last three tournaments at some point last week.
|
Less of a turnout for this one, but it should still be pretty good. Less top foreigners but more Koreans.
Starts tonight
|
Yah, i'm hoping taeJa makes it. That would be so great to get to watch him every week!!! Well every week except his bye week
|
I always expected the first to be the biggest, but it's not much smaller, still a great turn out. The one during MLG Raleigh will probably be the smallest.
|
Let's see some good matches potentially these couple rounds.
Round 1 Ziktomini vs KawaiiRice Caliber vs Kyhol JookTo vs Horror (I think, Oink's in game name is KimHyoJung, which is Horror's name) IceCream vs Scarlett (!!!!!) ToD vs Coca Carn vs White
Round 2 possibilities JonnyREcco vs Glon Elbegast vs Zikto/Kawaii TaeJa vs Slayers.Arthur (Again, I think, because in game name is Arthur) Artist vs Idra Golden vs Tod/Coca
Round 2 could be wrong, BG brackets look really weird.

The Beyond Gaming brackets make upwards of zero sense. The rounds don't go together at all and the only way to find who you are playing is to count up from the bottom, cause at the top, Crank just appears from no where.
|
It's just like 64 players are seeded into the round of the 64, and the rest of the players play off for the other 64 places. Or something along those lines.
|
Big result, they'll probably show IceCream vs Scarlett after this game.

I remember yesterday during the NA Gauntlet, Frodan started off wearing the glasses, then gave them to Gretorp. I'm guessing someone dared Bitter to wear them through the whole cast.
No clue about the hat lol

How are they filling out this bracket? The 3rd round shows a bunch of W's and L's next to the players' names, but the winners' names aren't being placed into the next round. A few minutes ago, it showed W's for both players in one of the matches.
Do only the winners of each qualifier receive NASL spots, or the top four of each qualifier? The OP doesn't properly make this distinction (is it 4 players or 16 overall?). + Show Spoiler + I guess I'll just assume MMA lost. Too bad he dropped out of IEM, like a few days before it became a who's who tournament (and one for which he won the qualifier)

The bracket only makes the next round once the current round is finished. It is pretty annoying how it doesn't show scores and, afaik, doesn't give a way to find out scores.
Only 4 players overall.

Good lord, Destiny drains his opponents dry. Terran mines out 4 bases and Destiny's all "whatever". Even the greediest fast 3 OC wasn't enough to take down Destiny's turtling. He needs to stop sending his whole army to take care of drops though.

That sounds like every other game destiny's played on stream this month. That dude seriously sits around and waits all day and night to stream cheat destiny, and ends up losing 5 out of 6 games anyway. It's pretty fucking sad.

Is that the same guy who recently stream cheated against IdrA too? To the point where IdrA shut down his stream for the day? I think ErA might stream snipe (stream cheat?) against multiple players.
|
IdrA losing 2-0 to Shibby :O, UK powa! Good to see Ziktomini with another strong performance, he hasnt shown a lot online since winning WCS UK so this could be a great statement to send out with WCS Europe fast approaching . British sc2 scene looking as strong as it has ever been ~
edit: I was always curious why JonnyREcco seemed to be particularly bm towards ErA whenever they played. I guess it kinda makes sense now
|
destiny vs era hilarious they end up going against each other. shoudl be great lol, hope he wins as i find stream sniping/cheating to be incredibly lame to do.

Apparently it wasn't, but he always uses the account name Mavengence, which Coca also used. So it should have at least been a Slayers.

Looks like they aren't updating the bracket until they're done broadcasting the round. Smart.

I honestly can't stand this internet explorer commercial song they have played for the last 4 god damn months on twitch tv

Gooooooooo Ziktomini, probably the only foreigner left who could make it to the finals.

Heart seems like he's not playing as well as he could be. Or maybe Ziktomini's playing better than expected...
Hmm...I think Heart's going to pull through and win, though.

They've only been showing 4 matches per broadcast, so I don't think it'll matter.
He also could just be assuming Arthur won cause he's Korean. Or Xeris gave him insider information since he's on the team
|
Arthur was against Vines.
|
Spanishiwa is the Korean slayer in this tournament. Min and SeoHyeon, now a shot against Arthur and if he wins that he gets another Korean in the final. Great run by him so far and his games have actually been really awesome.
|
Of the 4 players left I have to admit he's the one I want to see make into NASL season 4. Though I guess it would be a nice boost for theStC to make it through.
|
Hooray for QuanticSpanishiwa!
|
When does Spanishwa/Arthur play next? The current matches airing are rebroadcasts, right? Results are already on Liquipedia.
|
the semis are played in about 5-6 hours.
|
Go Spanishiwa! It would be great to see him in the NASL playing each week.
|
Gretorp just broke the TvZ metagame :p
|
Dark has the sickest use of burrowed Banelings I've seen. They're absolutely everywhere.
|
Dark is impressive. I was actually rooting for him though I don't usually root for underdogs. I can't wait for Spanishiwa vs Arthur; will we see the Korean slayer win or will the finals guarantee that a SlayerS member takes a NASL spot?
|
Arthur seems like the favourite now. We've heard nothing from Dark so far. And Spanishiwa hadnt too big results and should be the outsider.
|
Well, looks like we got ourselves another Slayers in the NASL.
+ Show Spoiler +Looks like Slayers B-teamers are the best B-teamers :p

Yes

Gretorp not that updated "Slayers consists mostly of terrans"
Looking at TLPD, they have 2 terrans in their 11 player A-team left: MMA and Ryung. Many terrans left: Clide, Ganzi, Taeja, Boxer

Yep. Slayers Arthur was a player who won the Slayers recruitment tournament. Last I heard, he's pretty cheesy, and basically an online player (EWM, ESV, etc), no significant LAN showings.
I know even less about Slayers Dark prior to this. I think he beat Polt in some offline qualifer this summer, but once again, no significant offline showings.
Two true up-and-comers.

Then who was smilekr29?
smilekr29 is 100% MMA. In game name is Mavengence (I guess him and Coca shared?). If you click on his info page on beyond gaming, his birthday is October 29, 1988 and his last name matches, Moon.
It might not be him playing, but it is definitely his Beyond Gaming account.

And the slayers guys have all signed up for the 3rd one too. I wonder why the Slayers B-Team are so keen, is Cella prodding the B-Teamers to get more practise? More teams should be doing something similar.

sortof doing really well, really like his decision making in this zvz vs dark
now up 30 supply, up by 20 workers, has mutas infestors and now getting roaches!
dark really really supply capped right now but now it's even because both players are maxed
hahah huge engagement but it comes out mostly even and then both players re-max ahahahah.
sortof with a much faster greater spire
sort of taking forever to break down the spines at the front of darks 4th so dark does a bunch of multi pronged shit and hits 3 bases at once takes out the hive and 4th

Speaking of NSHoseo, it'd be nice to see NASL extend an invite to Jjakji.

http://www.nasl.tv/News/Article/20120830nasl-introduces-the-leaderboard-and-invites-players-to-season-4
So apparently the invites in NASL season 4 are MMA, DRG, Violet and Taeja. Which as silly as it sounds is a little disappointing. At least 1 should have been an interesting foreigner player like Scarlet. I mean it's not secret that foreigners enjoy watching foreigners play. You are also awarding players who can't be bothered to try out for the NASL through the open tournaments (though DRG did try in the wildcard tournament). Basically 12 foreigners are removed from the league and replaced by ~4 foreigners and ~8 koreans.
tldr You should use the invites to bring in interesting players into the league.
And what happened to the BitterDam Qualifier?
|
I was expecting Nerchio at least.
|
Exactly, another successful competitive foreigner.
And MrBitter just said Nerchio declined an invite, which is possibly even more disappointing.
|
When will tonights bracket be made available?
|
|
And now a good chunk of MVP just signed up too, so Slayers, TSL and MVP are all well represented now. pity they waited till the last one seems they missed a few good chances.

I <3 NASL but it seems like they probably just chose a system that would give them four fan favourites.
They did get 4 fan favourites though. However, when this system gives them some boring Koreans nobody is interested in, there might get some more flak

Which is why it will be interesting to see if they actually keep the system after this season. I hope they do but I will understand if they cave into the need for high profile players.

Remember how much negativity there was during the IPL Finals with Squirtle vs Alive just because they weren't the biggest names? Yes most top players manage to gather a fairly large fanbase because of their skill but some players seem to struggle to attract interest(No one ever seems to be excited about poor Alicia) regardless. But you are right that the odds are good that next time the four will be popular enough that it won't be a problem.

I just have to say that every time I listen to Gretorp and Frodan I'm amazed at how much they have improved and how good of a team they are. Especially Frodan -- you are so eloquent, man!

I wish sC could qualify. He's one of the few Korean players I like watching because of his very unique play most of the time.

Whole lot of TSL players today.

TSL players beasting up this qualifier. Probably going to see a TSL player qualify today, judging from the sheer amount and the skill they have.

So I think MrBitter suggested that a Zerg has dropped from the league to be replaced by a protoss?

I wouldn't be too surprised if the list we have on Liquipedia isn't 100% correct. Last season upwards of 5 players didn't accept their seeds, including Socke, Kiwikaki and Inka.
Also, shocking that we have a foreigner guaranteed in the semifinals of this tournament.

Not really, it's just that the amount of foreigners is higher than the Koreans, and they all formed around the same bracket.

Killer, TOP and jookTo were all beat in that bracket though, by Major, Dime and Everize. Major is the only one that wasn't too much of an upset.

Really, those three players are in Code B for a reason, because they really cannot stand up to any current GSL player. They are around a high foreigner level, so it's not that surprising they lost to MajOr, Dime and Everize.

That surprised me, inori is a PvP specialist, so I thought he would have rolled over a TSL b-teamer.

Yeah I had you there, but then the Binary bracket said it was Sasquatch. Changing it back.

Revival always manages such clutch and amazing engagements which is why he does so well.

One bracket says Sasquatch lost to PrplPplEatr (which he also confirmed, and he also said he lost to Gimix), the other says Sasquatch is facing Hyun. What is going on?

Time to find out if Major can make it to the semi's.

I fail to see how a TSL player will not qualify for NASL.

Indeed. Special nod to Gretorp for tremendous casting improvement.

Looks like Revival had a...revival in that game. :p
|
It's a shame that both of these players cannot advance to the Ro8, they both play incredibly well.
|
Revival is such a powerful player at online tournaments, I only wish it could extend a little more towards LANs.
|
It was a good game, until Dream forgot about the possibility of Broodlords. Too late of a viking transition :\
|
Hyun had quite a bank though, 1 full round of lings would tear things apart.
|
That was a great defence by HyuN, the Drone micro was pretty intense.
HyuN dominates.

You know you just delete the word 'spoiler' from the url and you can read the whole thing, or click the +s to remove the spoiler form a particular bracket.
Major chatting his way to the Semi's.

HyuN vs Logicc & Major vs Revival

What a bad A-move by Revival. :/
|
Well, Major took some obscene risks by playing super greedy, but Revival didn't punish it. That, coupled with great engagements by Major, made that game very one-sided. Well won Major.
|
Wow easy money for Major I think.
Major into the money!

Dominating performance this series by Major. Congrats

Major going to have to lift his game.
|
Hyun completely outmacroed Major that game, but I also remember a day when engaging your entire ling/bling army up a ramp/choke into 7 sieged-up sieged tanks would really punish the player silly enough to do it.
|
Never thought I'd be cheering for Major to make the comeback :p
|
Well, in TSL, Major was down 0-2 against Hyun and brought it back. We'll see
But yes, it looks way too hard for him right now.
|
Losing all those Hellions and then the Banshees really hurt Major it seemed.
I hate that Infestors freeze + reveal cloak + damage the cloaked units. It's so boring to watch one unit clean up any harass with a single spell.
