What is the CSL
Ever wonder what it would be like to have your home team play against your biggest rivals -- not on the football field, but instead on the virtual landscape of StarCraft?
Welcome to the Collegiate StarLeague.
The CSL uses South Korea’s Starcraft “Proleague” as a model for its format – pitting teams against each other on a weekly basis. We've come a long way in our first year. Looks that way. I really hope CSL does well. College sports is a very strong base for any professional sport and I feel it should be the same for eSports.
Looks amazing! CSL is really doing great for the community -- next step school sponsored teams, then scholarships for SC2 players, then scouts who go around to HSL meets to pick up players for their college's CSL team.

I'm confused, the brackets at CSL's website say that the division finals were to be played on May 12th and 13th, but no results are shown. Liquipedia doesn't show results either, am I missing something here?
Either way definitely looking forward to the grand finals. UW fighting!

Yeah, took me a second to figure out that the casts on CSL's twitch stream aren't streamed when the games are played. I guess what I'm really asking then is whether there is a schedule for the stream casts? The Eastern and Central conference finals were streamed yesterday, it appears, so it would logically follow that they will be streaming the Western and Northern conference finals later today, but you know what they say about jumping to the island of conclusions...
On May 27 2012 08:49 robzombie wrote: Really looking forward to it! Thinking about heading out there myself. Is there an approximate start/end time for each day?
The room reservations are for noon-midnight each day. Also to anybody interested in bringing their computer LANKnights will be having a small LAN inside the room for people to game! If you are interested check us out at www.lanknights.net !
Hey guys, the LANKnights staff wanted me to forward this info to ya'll that plan on attending the lan portion of the event in addition to watching the CSL finals.
We're planning on running a SC2 Tournament at the LAN, and we wanted a gauge on how many people would be willing to participate. If you're interested, shoot out an email to augjmark@lanknights.net with your name and Battle.net ID. The more people we get to email in, the larger the event, and the bigger the prize!
Man, as a UCF student this makes my inner nerd get chills, but unfornately just like the full sail event, I'll be working all day both days. Why can't it be on a Monday/Wednesday...aka the days I am on campus! I'm sure this will be amazing, good luck to all!
On May 30 2012 13:11 Xeris wrote: Haphazard in what way? Can we improve upon it?
I guess it's really kind of just a question about how you want to do it, but spreading the different events out so much just seems kind of weird to me. I like the way that the all-stars matches and the CSL main event matches are distributed across the two days, but it just makes more sense to me to group them together within each day (ie, switch the 3rd place game and the all star's final, and put the all-stars WB R1 after Harvard vs Washington). Just my two cents, take it at face value. Looking forward to the whole event any way it goes down.
Getting my gear set up to head over there in a bit. See you guys out there! Going to be streaming the huge BYOC area all day for you guys starting at 12:00 EST. www.twitch.tv/CecilTV
Also, Ender I owe you some bro hugs when I get out there in a bit.
Day 1, 10:16am - Day[9] has arrived. Bringing a whole new level of professionalism to the event and giving a lot of great pointers based on all his experiences.
If you can get a temp computer hooked up while you finished setting up and fixing the main streaming rig you should do it. Just start streaming the various videos you've done on youtube.
The Day9 one is good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec2hB12ZTVE and they talk about who they think will win the tournament, etc, makes a perfect tournament preroll to fill in the gaps and problems like htis.
and IIRC Nestea did this with overlords, bringing the queen allows zerg to spread creep all over his opponent's half of the map. abusive to the extreme.
On June 03 2012 09:05 TheDougler wrote: I just tuned in. How did this creep spread happen?
spanishiwa sent a couple drones and a queen to jer's natural, started a hatch, dropped some creep tumors, canceled the hatch, then made spine crawlers.
SkipToMeLu vs TropicalBob (sic?) was literally one of the most intense ZvZs I've ever seen in SC2. Such a heart-pounding, action-packed game. I love Ling-bane vs ling-bane, or in this case ling vs ling-bane.

Calm down Frenchy, people are playing it because its the best way to currently play ZvP. Not because Stephano does it, even though he does it better than most.
Day[9] is the best caster by far. Next is that British guy that sounds like an adult. Those two together would be an interesting combo and would rival the best korean commentators.
Unless I'm having major video issues and minor hallucinations, they're using a team color enhancing mod. I've always thought that unit colors, for Protoss especially, can be hard to read. But why are they using such a mod for the casting of this tournament?
Whoever is controlling the camera... Can you not slide around everywhere on the map as much? Kinda gives me a headache, I don't know about anyone else. Move around the map a little more slowly. Everything seems to be happening to quickly with the camera work right now, lol.

Thanks again for supporting us. If you want to help or you love the CSL, please do the following:
Heh. I love those UCF security guys. So compassionate. (Actually, I can't complain, I used to LARP at UCF at the Union until the wee hours of the morning, and they never seemed to be upset about all the weirdos hanging outside on the deck until 4 in the morning.)
Are they going to cast the matches from the regular CSL that were supposed to happen yesterday? I watched this stream all day and didn't get to see my buddies play; perhaps if their were more scheduling updates, it would be less confusing as a viewer. GLHF to all
The OP should have the most updated results. If not, www.cstarleague.com has a nifty calendar. Please check there! Harvard will play Washington today at noon, broadcast should be around then.

Kind of hard to know exactly what happened, but to me, it seemed like kawaii just kept killing the infestors until at the end Ostojiy had no/very few(as in like 1) FG left when kawaii pushed in. From the health bars atleast, the rines seemed very clumped up, so FGs would've massacred that if there was any meaningful number left.

You also have to account for the fact that Kawaii Rice was able to produce Medivacs. Extremely potent in these low unit count situations.

Yeah, but say he got 4 FGs left and got 2 sets of FGs on those rines, the medivacs wouldn't really make much of a difference, they'd keep what 2 rines alive each? Medivacs are probably the best unit in the game, but for healing they are at their best inbetween fights or when it's healing a unit blocking a path(such as between mineral lines with the other 7 rines free to massacre the oncoming assault).
Whatever team colors mod they're using makes it a lot easier to differentiate between protoss armies, but why did they decide to do that for this tournament?
I just have to put in that the color mod should never be used unless some color-blind person is casting/playing. Seriously, that stuff looks like LoL or some other cheesy-looking game with that mod on.
this is gonna sound like an odd complaint, but they need to get Day9's co-caster a higher chair. It's a really weird vibe, having the other guy nearly a full head lower than Day. seems like other guy (whose name I do not know, sorry) is hunching bad or something.

Indeed, definitely doesn't represent yourself well, but more importantly, hurts your school's rep as well. But I guess I could understand his frustration when he was supposed to close it out for his team.
Compared to some of the shenanigans that other collegiate athletes pull on the field of competition, not typing GG is still thankfully not too terrible though.

Haha why do people say this, its not the end of the world, and in my opinion it doesn't really matter if someone doesn't GG or not.
sportsmanship is universally accepted to be important in competitions.
GG doesn't mean I surrender, it means good game. If the player didn't think it was a good game, he won't type the two letters. I'm guessing that's the mentality of some of the players. But I do think it's rude not to gg ._.

In our "culture" it doesn't. You can't really deny that.
Whether you share that view personally doesn't matter, when you're representing an organization and/or sponsor. I'm not saying the pitchforks need to be raised, I'm saying this should only be frowned upon.
