IGN Pro League is thrilled to be able to bring you another unique StarCraft II tournament! This one is called Tournament of Champions, and is a 16-man, double elimination tournament for a $12,000 prize pool! Each team from the IPL Team Arena Challenge was asked to pick one player from their roster to represent them in this global tournament, that will span the month of March. The WINNER of the Tournament of Champions will receive a spot in our live, open qualifier at IPL4 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Official Home of the IPL as well as an all expenses paid flight and hotel stay for the event!
The time has come for our first Losers Round 1 match of the IGN Pro League Tournament of Champions!
When: Wednesday, Mar 21 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Wednesday, Mar 21 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Format
This double-elimination tournament features 16 players from around the world and is an best of 5 format. This match is being played for Losers Round 1. The winning player will move on in the Losers Bracket, and the loser will be eliminated entirely! Keep in mind that the top 8 spots receive prize money!

Congrats Life! I was cheering for him for the sake of racial diversity and Zenex, but I also feel a bit bad that Artist, who I believe is still teamless, getting knocked out. Hopefully Artist finds a team soon.

3-1 sounds reasonable especially since Kas seems to be in a bit of a slump. Squirtle is also starting to heat up lately in individual leagues although his only PvT in GSL recently was against Taeja who is really good. Startale obviously thinks he can beat Terrans because they sent him out against people like Marineking in team league when they still had other options left.
How did the Life vs Artist games go? Were they completely one sided, close, or a mix?
Also, I've noticed that Squirtle seems to struggle more against really aggressive terrans like Marineking and Taeja while he can hold his own against more passive terrans. I don't know a ton about the EU scene but from what I've seen from Kas he's not exactly the most aggressive player. I think the play style also favors squirtle in this case

Damn. Yea when I saw it was over that quick I was like either someone tried some cheese and failed/succeeded or it was just an absolute beat down. Too bad for Artist. TvZ is supposed to be his strongest matchup, too, I believe. Life is pretty good though. Can't believe he's having so much trouble qualifying for GSL (well i guess I can since code B is hard as shit but this kid has talent).

Yeah... Kas literally had a 4+ minute window to kill Squirtle there, really weird build.
When Kas finally did show up, Squirtle handled the engagement a little bit weirdly as well.

I'm not really sure what Squirtle was expecting. I guess he was hoping Kas would just turtle forever and squirtle could just chrono up to like 3-3 vs 1-1 with all his gateway upgrades or something.
I hope Squirtle uses the PartinG build on this map. I want to see how Kas stands up against it. Squirtle tried it against Polt and it didn't go too well.

Supply lead while denying the toss's 3rd and taking his own, and he gets completely rolled and comes out 50 supply down.

That's one of the issues of mech: You can't retreat. You pick a bad engagement, and you lose the game.

Squirtle's upgrades were too great. Kas had a better chance if he would have taken his advantage and sat on it instead of continuing to walk around the map.
