IGN Pro League is thrilled to be able to bring you another unique StarCraft II tournament! This one is called Tournament of Champions, and is a 16-man, double elimination tournament for a $12,000 prize pool! Each team from the IPL Team Arena Challenge was asked to pick one player from their roster to represent them in this global tournament, that will span the month of March. The WINNER of the Tournament of Champions will receive a spot in our live, open qualifier at IPL4 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Official Home of the IPL as well as an all expenses paid flight and hotel stay for the event!
The time has come for another Winners Round 1 match of the IGN Pro League Tournament of Champions!
When: Friday, Mar 16 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also have a European re-broadcast as usual at Friday, Mar 16 4:30pm GMT (GMT+00:00))
Format
This double-elimination tournament features 16 players from around the world and is an best of 5 format. This match is being played for Winners Round 1. The winning player will move on in the Winners Bracket, and the loser will drop into the Losers Bracket. Keep in mind that the top 8 spots receive prize money!

IPL has randomly determined a winner, as a double walkover does not work in a double elimination tournament. ThorZaIN won the coin toss and will move into WR2, NaDa falls to LR1.

I'm sure I speak on behalf of the community when I say we want you to tell us at the last possible second that a match won't be played. That way we can all bitch about what a dick move that is!
Haha, just kidding. Thanks so much for telling us in advance IPL. I (and I'm sure many others) really appreciate it. Damnit, I've been working on what was going to be my 2000th post and I've now overshot it even more Oh well, it was worth it to voice how pleased I am with IPL. (Just wish IGN didn't disband ReIGN)

I always thought Apocalypse was really good when I see him vs Koreans on stream. But he never seems to perform in tournies. Maybe he can prove himself today =).

Well, he beat Mvp in tvt 2 sets in a row in GSL, but I don't know if you can say that that is a good example of his skill level because it was more of Mvp not playing his best than Gumiho being awesome.

3-0? What? I had dismissed this match because I thought it was going to be one-sided, and now I see that I was right about the match being one-sided, just not in the way I expected. Gumiho's TvT is relatively weak compared to his other matchups, but I didn't expect this!

The reaper hellion push was scouted by a single SCV. Apocalypse didn't get the tower with the hellions first, and risked the reapers being spotted earlier. When he went to attack he didn't do much with it... and he is still doing this much damage with the banshees? What is going on...

How did that even happen... I want to give credit to Apocalypse, but Gumiho just seemed to handle that so poorly after scouting the reaper/hellion at the tower, scanning the raven and vikings... but I suppose Apocalypse should be credited with using that unique strategy. GG.
