I decided to compare the win rates of teams of the year vs sase, it appears that sase leads 1-0 so I believe that quantic shall have the edge.

Well, it's a best of 5 and if you take out Machine, Lzgamer, and Incontrol, EG has an incredibly rooster of 5 dedicated individuals left. Sorry Quantic, but I don't see you going through all 5 of them. :-/

waaaah? At most it's gonna cost Quantic 1 game, they can't lose because of Destiny. (unless they throw him in at the Ace match or something) And you don't have to be a hater, obviously he was making a joke...

Should be interesting for iNkA, it's his past team vs his current team.

Hahah yeah not really, sorry I thought you were serious. Lots of people just like to knock down Destiny, (and obviously everyone who says he is soooo good is joking )

I would not mind seeing that. It would be good exposure for Flo and hopefully raise legitimacy as her status as a progamer rather than token female.

Of course, it would also be funny as hell.

Come on EG!!! Shape up!

Naniwa and Sase will be huge threats, but I think EG is ever-so-slightly favored... only in the respect that they have the deeper line-up.

I want to see some good PvX games :D

This one could be close... Though I gotta give the edge to EG due to their ability to take out protoss. Though Apocalypse could hit his Korean Beast Mode button so I guess we'll see.

Sase seems to be such a beast in team leagues, so I think Quantic will take this. But EG has so much talent, it could also be a Puma/JYP/DeMuslim all-kill. Really hard to tell.

this'll be a fun match. I think EG should be the SLIGHT favorites, but anything can happen. HuK hasn't been playing in these team leagues though, so that evens it up a bit more. Im thinking 5-4 EG

I don`t think HuK or JYP can win 3-4 PvPs in a row, because of the nature of the matchup (Q will likely run nani, sase, agh, apocalypse and destiny, maybe inka). Idra can`t seem to beat P as well.

About Puma, ok, I agree with you there, but he is a player on decline lately. I still favor Quantic overall.

if naniwa and sase dont all kill EG then i cant see quantic winning.

HuK, JYP, Idra, Puma and even demuslim imo all have the capability to take out everyone on that line up (ok idra vs a few of the toss like nani and sase are questionable) i can only see nani and sase taking out EG, unless EG sticks some of the lesser members out.

I think its safe to say demuslim is gonna win the first game, hes an awesome player, and professional against non-professional isnt a contest imo

SaSe or Naniwa can all-kill EG easily.

And Huk, JYP, Puma and Idra can all kill Quantic easily.

Look at MLG Orlando, Huk can win PvP all day long. JYP quite frankly is a better player than anyone who Quantic has. How is Puma on the decline recently? We haven't really seen much of him lately. And while Protoss is the bane of Idra's existence, I think its just as likely that Idra gets an all kill as it is Naniwa or Sase do.

I don't see anyone getting an all kill. Its going to be a pretty good match. If Nani or SaSe get hot, Quantic certainly can win. EG has depth on them though and their top guys are better.

In 2012, Puma has lost a lot in foreigner team leagues while doing just about average in the ESV weekly.

But, yeah, agreed that it will be a pretty good match, looking forward to it. Anything can happen, really. : )

Destiny's 2-1 in IPL TAC, it definitely could happen. But I think he may lose as he was said he was tilted on stream yesterday.

This really hinges on how Destiny/Sase/Naniwa perform, particularly Destiny. Given that both Sase and Naniwa are P, Puma's TvP specialty and JYP's strong PvP makes it hard for quantic, which is why Destiny's performance can and should be the dealbreaker in this series.

He's 2-1 due to mass spine + mutalisks in PvZ. I play Terran and those games were disgusting. People need to remember that since SC2 has been released Destiny has only won $700

And any notable success comes from abusing the stupid things in PvZ mass infestors and then mass mutas. If he played terran he would 1/1/1 every game

If MC played Zerg and made two spine crawlers and pulled both queens against 3 marines he wouldn't have lost a queen.

Pretty funny joke. Destiny outclassed in that game, his lack of multi-task ability makes me want to cry. Some good play by Demuslim there, triple prong harass was nice.

Lack of multi-tasking? Please...he was defending drops just fine and there wasn't really any display of lack of multitasking until the very end when he died to the three pronged attack, but his death there wasn't due to lack of multitasking but rather due to lack of an army thanks to Demus timing attack.

Exactly, people who honestly rate Destiny as a pro player need to get their heads checked.

As for the person who said Destiny lost a queen to 4 marines, he didn't. He built two spines, pulled both queens and then lost one queen. To three marines, I'm diamond league and people defend my 3 marine push better, and i halt my 12th SCV to get them their faster. On smaller maps.

He sent his entire army to deal with the drop in his main leaving his third to die to hellions. He lost 3 infestors to 2 maruaders simply because he wasn't looking. That sounds like a lack of multi-task to me.

Nice engagement for Apocolypse there, a bit unfortunate that demuslim didn't move out earlier

Have you ever dealt with that kind of harass before? Its not an easy thing to keep up with. You cant just send part of your army because if you only send part of it you need to wait for it to regroup in the base or else all of your lings are just going to get slaughtered. Sure he made a few mistakes, and he couldve spread his overlords better, but the game was basically over once his natural went down, he was playing 1 base behind the rest of the game. Demuslim also played extremely well, the drop harass was killer.

That game was over as soon as Demuslim's timing attack killed Destiny's nat... from then out, demus was up a base and 40-50 supply the entire midgame. Destiny didn't get out multi-tasked, he just lost the game early on and made a pretty respectable effort at a comeback. His army consisted of pure infestor + ling, neither of which are particularly great at killing massed blue flame hellions anyways

This. Pushing the front, blue flame hellions at the nat, and a drop in the main? Ouch.

I didn't deny that. The game was over if Demuslim didn't make any big mistakes, but that doesn't change the fact Destiny lost 3 infestors to 2 marauders and sent his entire army to deal with one drop. It was an observation about his play.

Destiny is a pro-gamer, or at least trying to be one. So we judge him by the standards of a pro-gamer, not some ladder player. He could have dealt with the drops far better, when he lost three infestors to two marauders you can see why he isn't a top player. Yes he was indeed behind and made a pretty good stab of getting even which in all honesty was only achieved by killing twenty supply for free when he fungaled the two medivacs seconds before they unloaded.

He never once attacked demuslim all game and if demu hadn't bothered with drops and just teched to whatever big timing push he wanted he could have won far earlier, he just played it safe.

Nice solid execution by incontrol, nothing too fancy but solid all the same.

PS: Remember he 2-0'd ThorZaIN at HSC so he must be alright with PvT. I really don't know about this whole EG practice schedule thing, I've watched it occasionally and it hardly seems optimal given the lack of games each player plays and how they observe / make comments on match ups where they don't play either race involved. I'm no pro so maybe that is exactly what you want to be doing but, meh.

Incontrol didn't target fire the second medivac in the first encounter, but apparently still managed to catch it later in the route back to the base. No way apocalypse could recover from that blunder.

Incontrol has a small timing window for a blink all-in, but Phoenix-Immortal is really strong in the mid/late game with proper micro/focus-fire. SO glad to see a pro use it ^^

seems like naniwa or SaSe not playing because of they send theognis and score is 3-1...

Not sure why agh didnt kill zealots with his pheonix, definitely would have won him the fight.

Theognis? Doesn't that mean only SaSe OR Naniwa will be able to play instead of both of them because when/if theognis loses EG will have 4 wins and only need 1 more? Bit odd for Quantic not to use both their two best players when they are on the verge of elimination.

AGH played that last battle out terribly though, focus firing zealots with immortals what?

I feel like you don't play much PvP...blink stalker v phoenix is heavily favored to the blink player. His transition is also better - to chargelot archon instead of Agh's useless slow zealots and void ray.

Wow, iNcontroL taking two games off of QxG! I'm impressed, that's a decisive blow to be struck by a player who usually doesn't perform up to snuff. Don't think the drop will fare so well, though...

Blink player has a timing window for a blink-obs all-in yes. But Agh had enough immortals in his original composition to deal with the blink stalkers. Going for chargelot archon was a good move by Incontrol, but Agh should never have let him get to that point. I have no idea why he went for VRs anyways...

Can't tell if the scan was timing or just lucky. Hard to say

Incontrol's heart probably dropped when he saw that scan, sad times.

When Agh got 3 Immortals, he should have thought about moving out and trying to pressure. I have no idea why he continued to wait, since Phoenixes give you good harassing abilities. He even could have expanded if he wanted to, since if Incontrol tried to pressure the expo, Phoenixes can get into the mineral line and Immortals are good against even blink stalkers.
I think Agh just waited too long. He let Incontrol find a good counter.

Nah, he did something really cool when he went for those fast Colo. If he'd kept his army all together and hit some solid FFs, he could have taken down the third and moved into the nat. theognis didn't have any Vikings. Unfortunately, iNcontroL got hit when he wasn't looking and lost his Colo instantly.

With PuMa's TvP and Quantic's aces both being P.... this could be the two wins EG needs to take it. I'm also expecting SaSe to play for Quantic as their ace... NaNiWa hasn't shown his face in a team league for a while...

Great games by Geoff, I'm so happy to see him performing so well. It's a shame that last game against the ognis didn't go well, that's a really strong timing if it goes unscouted. I've seen him get really good results with it on the ladder. Overall, great job though. Taking 2 games off QxG is a good start.

Agreed. Tough luck on that last game of his but you gotta give all the credit to theognis for that sick scan

I think if you erase the word gimmick, you're statement is true. He did a Collusus timing and caught his opponent being a bit too greedy/didn't scout. Nothing wrong at all with that.

Sick, sick, SICK mech TvT by PuMa there. So patient when theognis would outside his base with the tanks.

theognis looked good for a while but utterly refusing to make a Thor (and losing like 30 workers to two banshees) turned that game from him winning to getting crushed.

Fantastic comeback for Puma there.

Have to say I'm still extremely impressed with theognis. Played extremely well and maybe could have taken that game if he hadn't taken so much damage from those banshees

Nice job by Quantic, baiting out Puma unnecessarily against Theognis and sniping him with PvT god SaSe. Hopefully he doesn't die to 1-1-1!

Puma got 2 cloaked banshees into the main mineral line, and destroyed many workers. theognis also made the mistake of sending in small groups of marines to take care of the banshees, which meant that they were picked off one by one. Puma saved both those banshees and later used them to break a tank contain by theognis.

And it's not like the BO had any major influence in the result... when an opponent donates 20 supply that early in the game, it's pretty much over regardless of what each player is doing.

PuMa got a slight early lead but then theognis got a sick contain before PuMa got siege mode up. PuMa was insanely patient and waited until he had siege mode + banshee to break the contain, theognis still ahead. Used Raven and landed vikings in theognis' main base to clear up a few supply and most importantly kill a missile turret which theognis didn't rebuild. A few moments later two banshees show up while theognis is out on the map and kill a stupid amount of workers + units (they ended the game with 40+ combined kills). By the time theognis drove them out (he didn't even kill them even though he scaneed twice and had vikings) the supplies were even and then PuMa managed to scout theognis' hidden fifth and kill the building SCK with a hellion while getting his mech army in to a great place in the centre of the map.

Air superiority + banshees + tanks in range of theognis' fourth caused him to lift the fourth only to lose it to vikings. PuMa kept picking off theognis tanks with banshees and then theognis went for some weird counter which puma a move crushed, theognis gg's. Overall it was pretty solid play by theognis but he utterly fell apart to the two banshees and probably could have won the game with a few more drops and one Thor.

Too much for SaSe there. Great play by Puma, EG just a little too much for Quantic.

Bright future for Quantic though. They got a good core with Naniwa, Sase, and also a good base of solid players.

It was actually a really smart decision by iNcontroL in that specific scenario. I'm not sure how much intel he actually got with his observer that game. But if you scout a terran taking a quick third like Apocalypse did and is relatively marine heavy (which he knew because Apoc did an early game combat shield +1 poke). That just screams a colossus timing, even ignoring the fact that he lost 2 dropships full of units.
It was the proper reaction to what his opponent was doing and is in no way, shape, or form a cheese. Lol.

I think if you erase the word gimmick, you're statement is true. He did a Collusus timing and caught his opponent being a bit too greedy/didn't scout. Nothing wrong at all with that.

its not a cheese at all. Its just a Colossus timing. There was nothing gimmicky about it.

Indeed, colossus timings are extremely common. Some hits at 2 colossus, some at 3 and you adjust the number of probes you make depending on which one you choose. It might just have been one of the most common strategies for a little while.

wow that takes so much skill.

yeah its still a cheese, just because it is a delayed cheese doesnt mean it isnt a cheese.
you only have to sleep with one chick to be a whore buddy etc etc

How is it cheese? It's a regular timing attack...It's not like Incontrol would be dead if it failed

actually he would have been behind. try the build on ladder and put yourself in that scenario its quite interesting actually
but like i said im all for cheese and gimmicks it adds to the game, well done incontrol - beat 2 qxg players, expecting a tweet :D

Dude, you should really do some research on what is a timming attack, all-in and cheese.

Yeah I really don't think you know what cheese means. And I'm not saying that to try to legitimize his play, I have nothing against cheese, this just wasn't a cheese.

Maybe incontrol is right! perhaps we will see Demuslim a lot this year! with great achievements! Hope he does well because he has it in him. Just by watching him play and play against him you can tell that hes a very good player.

At least he got a great team with house and good environmental place to practice in <3 gl and gj EG!

That really urks me. Geoff is a great guy real easy to root for and want to see him succeed so his first two wins were nice albeit not the most impressive games from his opponents, still taking nothing away from him it was indeed executed beautifully.

But then watching his multitask fail.... and being more concerned with his drop harass than with his main lifeline, his vital artery, its very disappointing. We've all been there... I know I have countless times where we look away from our army and if you don't get those FF's up (or at least micro back your collosus man >_>) then thats the game. KO toss goes down. I was actually worried for him about this while he started his drop play. I scanned the minimap to make sure his army was up his natural and to my joy it was.

You really should have considered moving out a scouting probe.... zealot... .stalker.... anything. Ahead of your entire army if you really thought it was time to push out.

I know you're aware of all this Geoff I'm sorry man I don't mean to bummer down your 2 wins cause its still a + in my book and any math book too. But I guess I'm more just typing this out of frustration cause I know you could have came back to win that one. Those mistakes that if you just ironed out a tad bit more you'd be in the RO8 and semifinals without a doubt.

And I also probably type this because those same small mistakes are what keep me from winning a lot of the time too being a toss brethren I know all too well how one misclick = death.
One step forward without scouting what lies ahead = death.

GG's Incontrol I hope it becomes your new, and permanent, trend.

After watching months of Puma's FLAWLESS TvT's watching him push out and lose almost all his hellions when he clearly doesn't need to lose any is making me start to think after winning all those tournaments and dominating TvT especially for so long that he's gotten cocky. And so much so its even gone into his play. You see him make many more decisions now where you think afterward, "He got overconfident" or "He overextended". And you definitely hear a lot of "Puma is going to just go for it here" Of course he still plays brilliantly 90% of the time; a la banshee micro from this game we just saw, but we also saw a few moments of overconfidence. The hellions moving too far ahead early in the game after he first broke the contain on his nat. And then again when he landed all his vikings in the mineral line nearly losing them and while also letting his raven nearly fall to a single missile turret without just moving it back.

Ick. Saw this coming. QxG, even if Nani did play, just doesn't have a deep enough roster to handle EG's top 4.

Sase/Nani can only do so much (esp. when they're the same race). All-kill format gives them a better chance, but EG really only needed 2 snipers prepped to win this. And incontrol winning definitely didn't hurt either :p

Why would QxG send out a Protoss, a good one, when they know all PuMa does is 1/1/1? Makes no sense. I mean, PuMa is a good 1/1/1'er at best. I just wish PuMa would play standard instead of 1/1/1 all te time because he's a pretty kinda decent straight up player.

Of any of em bra. It was a general statement. What were you trying to do, call me out cause you thought I was referring to this tournament and its clearly a teamleague?

At the end CatsPJ's makes one last statement of mild sillyness that CP himself thinks is the funniest thing so DOA flashes CP a look of.... haaa yeahhhh you're funny man, I'm so glad I went from casting with the genius/hilarious/dashingly badass - Wolf, to cast with you: Man who laughs at his own bad jokes.

That just proves how god awful Moletrap truly is. He was willing to leave his incredibly successful partnership with Wolf that was just seeping chemistry from every hole in the stream.... just to get away from having to cast with the EXACT, COMPLETE, OPPOSITE.. the other have of the time.

You know DOA's last words to Khaldor were: God speed man, God speed.

Puma has a good case for being the best TvP player in the world, regardless of the 1-1-1 and he doesn't 1-1-1 vs Sase anyway.

I would definitely say PuMa has one of the best if not the best TvP in the world :O. His long game and 1-1-1 are so sick. And the fact he has both at his disposal makes him unpredictable which is even scarier.

Watch the PuMa vs Sase games, they were really exciting.

When your back is up against the wall you send your best player and hope reverse all kill. That move made perfect sense in every way. You have to treat you Ace with the confidence, the respect, and the belief that they will do well. Even though SaSe lost here, theres no question you send in him again in a similar situation.

Yeah it was cheese. Like I said though, good for him for spicing it up.
Congrats on the 2 wins big guy, against two TOP players.

Puma has a good case for being the best TvP player in the world, regardless of the 1-1-1 and he doesn't 1-1-1 vs Sase anyway.

I would definitely say PuMa has one of the best if not the best TvP in the world :O. His long game and 1-1-1 are so sick. And the fact he has both at his disposal makes him unpredictable which is even scarier.

his 14 supply depots is awe inspiring.

he will always get his supply depot at 14 supply and halt construction just as it's building even if he's getting gas and has to cut worker production.

that way you don't know when he started the supply depot

I think that NaNiwa is a better Protoss than SaSe and should have been sent out versus PuMa because NaNiwa is better at defending 1/1/1.

If Naniwa was a choice to play he would have played. Obviously he either can't or wont play in this tournament. He is obviously their number one player.

I agree. While SaSe is good against Terran, I don't think he has as much experience getting 1/1/1'd that much. NaNiwa is actually very good against players that constantly all-in.

Interesting results. Was iNcontroL vs Apocalypse a good game? Because that's quite a big upset.

Why didn't they use naniwa btw? He isn't doing any clan wars it seems... I really think Quantic would beat EG quite easily if Naniwa was playing.

I am pretty sure this was played when he was at Kiev for IEM, so he could not play.
Good games, hoping for EG to tear it up in the Lower Bracket :D

I have two simple rules for gambling, that have treated me very well over the last two years:

- Boise State will always cover the spread
- Never bet against Korean Terran

For everyone who wants to make some easy money this year, you're welcome.
